Arrival At Base II

As Luke was running, approaching the tree he used for base in his last visit, due to his heightened senses, he heard chatters.

He turned to Obed. "Hear anything?" He asked in a hushed voice.

Obed shook his head showing he didn't hear anything.

Then Luke heard a familiar voice and his advancement stooped. "That should be Kyne's voice." Luke explained even though Obed had made it clear that he didn't hear a thing."

"Hey, why'd we stop?" Obed enquired.

"Oh, I heard Kyne's voice and I wanna see it for myself if he's really here.

Luke stood up and walked out of his hiding place. "Oh, look who's giving a lecture this time."

Luke could practically hear the joy in Kyne's next words. "He's here." Kyne informed the others with excitement.

Look observed everyone for a moment before staring at Kyne. "Hey, were you forced back here?" Luke asked him.

"No, these are old-time buddies who've just awakened and I promised to lead them through the training zone."

"That's Yord, their leader," Yord raised his head with pride.

"That's Raela, his… cough." Raela frowned when she heard Kyne's introduction but she winked at Luke nonetheless with a smile on her face.

Rin looked in another direction when Kyne introduced her to the others. It was like she didn't care. "Rin, Raela's sister, and then we have Dhino." Unlike his threatening stature, Dhino gave a polite bow to Luke and Obed. Luke smiled at it. With that, Kyne introduced the full squad.

"Very well then. Nice to meet you all. Ob, here's Kyne, the one I kept telling you about." Luke informed Obed.

"Oh, the sidekick." Obed smiled and Kyne's face turned slightly red.

"Shut the hell up." Luke scolded Obed.

"Kyne, meet my brother Obed. He's also just awakened so I brought him here myself." Luke introduced them to each other and they exchanged handshakes.

"He has an ID right?" Kyne asked out of curiosity.

"Of course he does. What were you trying to say?" Luke asked with a brow raised.

"Nothing, I just know someone who happens to not have an ID and almost got us in trouble. I'm sure he still doesn't have one. Captain Greyhn had to keep watch on us because of him." Kyne answered, shaking his head.

Luke smiled because he knew Kyne was trying to mock him now. "Okay, first thing tomorrow, you're going to be hunting with me. Been a while since we killed one of those dogs." Kyne's face changed.

Luke's eyes changed focus to stare at Dhino. "His name's Dhino right? He'll engage in physical training with Obed." The faces of the other three contorted when they heard only Dhino's name. Dhino on the other hand smiled.

Luke sighed. "We'll talk more on such matters tomorrow. Right now, I'm tired but very hungry. Running all the way here from the North Camp was draining. That reminds me, I met with the captain."

Kyne was immediately interested in the last sentence. "Did you two fight? Or are you getting arrested once we leave the training zone? Which is it?"

"None. If we had fought, I might've left him with a serious injury or even killed him if needed. We both know that, so fighting wasn't an option. He could've arrested me too, but it turns out he has a deal for me and if I accept, he'll take my secret to his grave." Luke explained to Kyne but the others could hear their conversation and they couldn't help but keep their mouths open.

Luke was stronger than the captains of the zone? That was definitely good and bad news.

Good news was that he was the safest person to be with and the bad news was that if things went sideways between them and a fight broke out, then they might not leave with their lives.

Luke handed his bag to Obed and looked at Kyne. "Kyne, watch over the base while I'm gone for an hour."

"Where are you headed?" Obed and Kyne asked together.

"Where else? To hunt of course. I'm hungry and I'm sure everyone is too." Luke turned around and walked away.

Kyne walked back to the group he had brought along. "I told you all, didn't I?"

"Argh, I'm so pissed right now, I feel like shit. I'm gonna have a talk with our fellow newbie." Yord grunted as he walked away.

"I need to know about his results." Raela followed behind her lover.

"Me too." Rin ran after both of them.

Kyne saw them arrive in front of Obed and sighed. He turned around to have a talk with Dhino, but Dhino was still staring in Obed's direction, his eyes fixed there while he was sweating.

"What's the mat…" Kyne turned around to ask but his words got stuck in his throat when he saw the other three on the floor, Yord was unconscious.

"How is that guy a newly awakened Chosen? And I'm supposed to train with that guy?" Dhino shook his head.

*****

Millions of miles away, there stood an ancient castle amid other ancient buildings which spread around in all directions for thousands of miles. This castle had slowly sunk into the earth with every passing decade.

Over two-thirds of this majestic and ancient castle had gone into the ground.

Now, the hallways seemed like an underground labyrinth. The entire inner walls of the castle were stained with writings of different sizes, and handwriting. There was only one similarity, they were all in red, and were written with blood to be precise.

In one of its hallways, lit with red flames that burned continuously without a trace of its source, a man walked one step at a time. The aura of death surrounded the man like he was death itself. He was covered in rags up to his face.

He slowly walked down the stairs he came across until he was on the final floor. He walked to the front of the only door on this floor. A big black door with runes carved into the door all around it. It looked like a door used to seal the evilest creature. He pushed it open and walked it.

The inside was completely dark but he alone could see the humanoid creature that sat on the throne. He knelt down the moment he got in.

The eyes of the creature fixed on him. Black eyes with red vertical irises like that of a cat shone in this room that seemed to feast on every single light.

Every other feature on its body couldn't be seen but one thing was certain, this was the boss. The pressure he emitted was so vast and terribly powerful that it had kept this place sinking even after being sealed.

The man that had entered a moment ago had to kneel to avoid being crushed by the pressure.

The man opened his mouth and spoke to the one on the throne. "My Lord, I have bad news with me."

The pressure in the room multiplied by ten folds, pressing the man until he lay flat on the floor to even the pressure on his body. The whole castle began to shake violently. So terrible that the areas around were vibrating intensely.

"Speak." The man heard a voice in his head and the pressure subsided.

"An oddity has been born." The man answered without delay.
