Chapter 9

'Finally!'

Even though I knew of the incident, I was not the first one to react, it was Bae Jiho that pulled out his weapon and rush toward the scene first.

'I guess he isn't the hero for nothing' I thought to myself.

'Well, they can probably handle it by themselves like in the novel, so I'm just going to be on standby and only intervene in case something unexpected happens.'

While the others quickly followed Bae Jiho's lead I slowly made my way after them.

After reaching where the attack had taken place, I saw the protagonist group confronting the demon followers. However, I saw was unexpected I knew that they would have troubles taking care of the followers but since they had plot armour they would win at the end. But something didn't add up, the followers was way stronger than the groups, so I analyse them using [Eye of Truth]

'Something is wrong the followers' ranks are higher than what they were in the novel. Especially their leader, Cairo, he should had been a lower C-rank. How is he a lower B-rank?'

While I was looking around, I saw another anomality. Originally there should had been five attackers however there was another individual. Someone who's face was covered by a hood, but I could tell that he was stronger than any of us here.

'Eye did the story changed because of me?'

I wanted answers but I knew right now was not the right time. So, I unsheathed my sword and tried to sneak attack Cairo while he was occupied by Bae Jiho.

Soon I appeared behind Cairo.

I aimed my sword at his neck however, I was dumbfounded when my sword shattered into pieces. Well, that was all a training sword could amount to in the end.

"Why don't we have a timeout huh?" I quickly replied to the annoyed Cairo

Soon he turned to me and threw a first covered in mana.

'Sh*t it's too fast. Eye can I block that with my hands?'

'Oh great!'

I caught Cairo's fist. He looked shocked so I threw a taunt at him.

"You may have a high strength, but my defence is higher" I smirked at him.

While I held him Bae Jiho took the opportunity to attack him. The attack successfully landed however it left only a shallow cut. Cairo broke free from my grasp and took a few steps back. Taking this chance, I dashed toward him and threw a punch toward his face. However just as it was about to land a powerful blast hit me and I was blown away. It was the strange, hooded guy.

"Hey that's unfair, interfering in someone else fight, I mean I did that early but that don't count okay!"

"Sorry, but I think you will have to deal with the big guy alone while I handle this one" I said to Bae Jiho.

The other four was also having a one on one with the other followers, so if this continues, we will lose. However, I had one card left. Many terrified students were present here since they followed the protagonist's group. They are terrified right now but with a bit of courage they could be of use.

"Aren't you guys training to become Heroes? So why are you cowering in fear. Once you become a Hero you will have to deal with this from time to time. Didn't you guys come here after following these 5 that you admire. For you aren't they idols that you want to reach. Right now, they are fighting with their life on the line to protect you all. So why don't all take the first step to catch up to them. So, gather your courage and fight alongside them!" I shouted to everyone surrounding us

Soon the students that were terrified drew their weapon and started to fight alongside the others giving us the advantage.

'Learning a bit of talk-no-jutsu doesn't hurt anybody. Now then how to deal with this guy.'

The strange man tried to go and help Cairo take care of Bae Jiho but I interrupted him.

"No, you don't. You opponent is me"

He looked a bit frustrated. I knew it was because thing things was not going the way he planned. However, as I didn't have a weapon blocking him till rescue arrived was the best I could do.

Soon he appeared in front of me and pulled out a dagger that was aimed at my head, I quickly evaded it by moving my head to the side and gathered mana in my hand and threw a counter punch.

'Stop annoying me when I'm fighting, I don't even understand what you mean'

I didn't understand what he meant. But then I remembered the elemental property of [Adamantine Body]. As it was mostly a defence gift It was related to the earth element.

'Now what?'

Soon the man threw another strike at me. I did what Eye told me and tried to block it with my left hand. I thought that the blade would have sliced my fingers, but I saw something brown covered my left hand.

"Wow this is cool"

I suddenly let out a remark from my mouth. This scene reminded me of a novel power up cliches so it kind of embarrassed me.

Suddenly the man said something

"Don't trust them they are just using you!"
