The calamity trio ended up in Amphibia as babies and taken in by the same people who took them in in canon. Then they all got fed potions that turned them into amphibians and they were raised thinking that they were amphibians instead of humans. Now they're finding out the truth.

Medicated

The heartwarming moment was cut short by the bushes nearby rustling. Something big was approaching! None of them had had any trouble with wildlife up to that point, but it seemed like that lucky streak was about to run out. Or so they thought until Anne’s birth parents burst through the treeline with these weird mini tarps on sticks in one hand each and their phones in the other.


“ANNE!! What are you doing out here in the rain without a jacket or even an umbrella?! You’re going to catch a cold if you keep this up! Look, we wanted to trust you like you asked us to, but the fact that you left withou- whaa?” Anne’s mother started before finally looking down and seeing the frogs. She and her husband were both stunned into silence while the frog family froze in fear. Neither side knew what to do as Anne looked back and forth between them for a few moments.


“Anne, what do we do?” Sprig finally broke the silence by calling out for his big sister. Her parents recoiled at the sound of his voice, obviously shocking them enough to finally confirm that there were no intelligent amphibians in this world. They wouldn’t have been anywhere near as surprised if there were!


Upon seeing her mother open her mouth again to speak, Anne rushed in between them and stood with her back to the frogs. She spread her arms out in order to bring the attention off of them and onto her. She knew she wouldn’t be able to win in a fight against them though, so all she could do was beg.


“Please… PLEASE don’t eat them! They’re my family !” Anne watched her birth parents’ eyes as they seemed to be processing what they were seeing. She wasn’t very used to reading human facial expressions yet, but she could still see realization stirring in her mother’s eyes as she just stared. Nobody moved at all right up until Anne’s father fainted and her mother looked down at him instead of the frogs. The girl thought of taking this opportunity to run away, but she reconsidered when she felt Hop Pop’s hand on her leg. He actually wanted to try to work this out!


And if they were going to do that, then they’d have a LOT of explaining to do…
