CHAPTER 20. MAN AND WIFE
breath, please." I try to calm her.
"Oh, how can I, child?" He asks me, fanning herself. "This is an utmost disaster."
"It is not that bad, Mama." I try to convince her.
"I asked for lilies, not daisies." She tells me, wide eyes.
"They are both flowers." I tell her. "It does not matter to me."
"But, each and every member of the Royal family will be joining us." She continues. "We cannot have them see daisies hanging all around the house."
"Why not?" I ask her.
"Because they are daisies!" Mama retorts, as I hold my head.
"Elle." I squeak out, and she immediately supports me, and takes me away. "Tell Mrs. Valery to talk to Mama, I think she just broke my mind."
"Oh, Miss Diana." Elle starts to say, with a smile, as she helps me to the bed. "Do not worry. Everything will be perfect."
"Oh, I am not worried, Elle. I know you are handling everything." I tell her, as I fall back onto my bed, closing my eyes. "My family worries me."
She just gives me a small chuckle, and makes her way out.
dress, looking at myself in the mirror, a soft smile on my lips, as Elle pulls the dress up, slowly.
I let out a breath, as the dress finally tightens around me.
"Oh, you look beautiful, Dearest." Mama exclaims, happily.
"Absolutely gorgeous." Daphne tells me, as she walks up, and holds my hands.
"You look breathtaking, Miss Diana." Elle tells, with a smile, which I return.
"Oh, I do not quite believe, we both have will have married in our very first season." Daphne gushes, smiling brightly, which dims a little, as she says her next words. "I do hope, you have more joy then my marriage."
"You will have joy, Daph." I tell her, holding her shoulder. She had told me everything that had happened with her and the Duke. "I have seen the way the Duke looks at you, it is like you are the only person the the entire room, do not give up on that, or I am sure you will regret it. I do not believe there has ever been a great love without understanding."
She laughs a little, smiling at me.
"I am supposed to be the wiser one, remember?" She tells me.
"Being older dose not make you the wiser one." I reply, and we both smile at each other.
Anthony enters the room, and looks around it.
"You look stunning, Diana." Anthony tells me, and I give him a smile.
"Thank you, Brother." I reply, as he offers me his arm, and everyone else rushes to take their seats.
"Are you ready, Sister?" He asks me softly, as we stop just before the aisle, out of view form everyone.
I take a deep breath, closing my eyes, and letting it out. I look at him, and nod.
"I am." I reply, a huge smile on my face, as we start to walk.
Everyone rises, as we walk down the aisle, but my eyes are only on one person, who is staring back at me.
This is a huge grin on my face, as I see how handsome he looks, just now realizing that this the the person I will be spending the rest on my life with. I always thought that the idea would scare me beyond belief, but right now, as I look at him, standing there, waiting for me, with this unbelievable smile on his face, I feel like I can't not wait for the rest of my life.
His mouth is hanging open, as if he has seen something otherworldly, and he can not quite believe it.
We reach the end of the aisle, and Anthony turns to me, with a smile, nodding at Louis, and walking to his seat.
I turn to Louis, as he offers me his hand. I take it and he helps me up the steps, both of us smiling at each other.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony." The Officiant start to say. "It is said that marriage hath in it less of beauty but more of safety than the single life."
Louis and I turn to each other, as he delicately removes the glove on my left hand, and slowly slips a ring on my finger. Both of us, looking into each other's eyes, not being able to hide our smiles.
"In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen." The Priest continues. "I now pronounce you man and wife."
