Chapter 29

"Is she finally asleep?" Jay asked as he stood around the mess.

"Yea" Kelly said with a sigh. He looked around at all the mess "What the hell happened here?"

"I don't know. But why would she lie to us? I don't understand" Jay said.

They stayed silent for a few seconds "Has she talked to you at all? About what happened when she was found in that container?" Kelly questioned him.

After thinking about it for a few seconds Jay shook his head "What about you?"

"Not exactly"

"Could that be why she did all of this?" Jay asked glancing at the mess below them.

"Could be. Losing her job at the district could've triggered all of this"

Jay let out a sigh "I can't believe she didn't tell me"

"Me either. Let's get this cleaned up"

The boyfriend and brother began to clean up the mess Cassie left behind.

~

I sat on the bed for awhile. I stood up and walked to the kitchen. The mess was cleaned up like nothing happened. I grabbed a cup and the coffee pot. I began to pour the coffee when Kelly walked out from the bathroom.

"Hey"

After pouring I put the coffee pot down "Hey, sorry for the mess" I apologized as I sipped the coffee after blowing on it.

"It's fine. Jay had to leave for work. Practically had force him out" He lightly chuckled.

I put down the mug. The small cuts I got from all the glass were stinging me "Okay, I'll give him a call soon"

The silence lingered for a few seconds.

"Cass, what's going on with you? Why did you destroy everything?" He asked.

A sigh escaped my lips "It's just everything with losing my job" I kept my eyes peeled to the table not wanting to meet his.

"Is it really that? Cassie you've never talked about what happened when you were kidnapped"

I released he cup from my hand and began to walk away "I don't want to talk about it" I said walking past him.

"Yes you do have to talk about it" He said grabbing my wrist causing me to stop and turn around.

"What is going on with you? Destroying everything from that shelf. That isn't like you"

I glanced at the empty shelf that was put back against the wall "I know" I said turning back but not looking up at him.

"Just tell me what's going on, you can talk to me" Kelly said grabbing my hands "I know your upset"

"I'm not upset Kelly" I said looking up at him "I'm pissed off"

"Look I know you went through hell in that container. But your healed now. He can't hurt you anymore"

I snatched my hand away from his "You don't understand!" I exclaimed slightly raising my voice. I turned my back to his as I put my left hand on my hip. I could feel my heart beginning to pound quickly against my chest.

"Okay" He said in a calm tone "Make me understand then"

I turned around to face him again "I did go through hell in that container" My voice was getting louder as I continued to speak "He took something from me! That psychopath stalking murderer took something from me that night that I could never get back! That's what you don't understand!" I hadn't realized how loud I was yelling.

The way he was looking at me it was as if I was a monster, and that's how I felt. Without thinking any further I turned my back and walked out, slamming the door behind me.

~

"Wait what?"

"Yea she just went off on me then she stormed out" Kelly said as he was pacing.

"Why didn't you go after her?" Jay asked over the phone.

Kelly scoffed "I was too busy being shocked" He sighed "I really don't know what's going on with her, I'm getting worried"

"Okay... I'll give her a call"

"Yea go ahead. She left her phone here" Kelly said looking at it on the counter.

Jay let out a frustrated sigh "Damn it"

"I'm gonna go look for her" Kelly said grabbing his jacket.

"Okay, keep me posted"

"Yea" Kelly said before hanging up. He slid his phone into his pocket and put on his jacket. He grabbed his keys and walked out of the door.

~

After Kelly didn't find her he was getting worried. So was Jay, but Nathan helped calm them down. Nathan decided to stop by her place to check one more time if she were there. Nathan kept knocking but no one would answer the door.

Nathan decided to check inside so he grabbed the spare key underneath the mat in front of the door. After opening the door he found Cassie sitting on the couch. He closed the door and slowly approached her. He was getting worried himself, it seemed like she was in a trance.

"Cass" He called out to her.

When she didn't answer him he walked over and sat next to her "Hey"

Again she didn't answer. Nathan sighed "Cass, talk to me"

Again she didn't answer.

"Okay. If you want want to talk fine" Nathan said "I don't know what you went through when you were kidnapped. And I know it's not easy losing your job but you can't just lash out on people. There's better ways to handle certain situations. You can't keep doing this Cass. I mean.. we're all crazy, some of us just hide it better than others" Nathan said trying to lighten up the mood.

~

I was listening to Nathan the entire time. But I didn't feel like talking. I hadn't even known how long I was sitting on the couch. To be honest, the entire day was a blur. But Nathan was right.

I turned my head to look at him. Tears were beginning to emerge and moisten my eyes "I need help" My voice cracked.
