[eleven]

Draco groaned as he opened his eyes to wake. His back was cramping from his position of sitting on the floor - he must have fallen asleep when he rested his head on the end of his bed. With a sigh, he stood to stretch, glancing at the sleeping figure in his bed.

It was five in the morning, just two hours until they have to come down for breakfast. Draco had slept the whole night in that awful position that his back didn't feel quite right. He glanced down at Hermione to check if she was sleeping well enough for him to leave, before walking down to take a nap on the couch.

Draco must've fallen asleep deeply, because he didn't notice the sun shining on his face until Hermione was shaking him awake. He was surprised to see her so put-together. She was dressed in her school robes, hair was neatly kept up in a bun, cheeks were rosy and her eyes weren't puffy as he initially expected "You look better." He commented raspily, man, was he exhausted.

"It's a new day. I pulled myself together." Hermione said and cleared her throat "Thank you for taking care of me."

"Not a problem, Granger. As long as you don't go on a sobbing rampage again. You looked horrible." Draco shook his head "What time is it?"

"Gee, thanks." she rolled her eyes "It's time for you to take a shower, it's ten past seven."

"Right, thanks for waking me up." Draco said and cracked his back once before standing up "You should go ahead and have breakfast, Granger."

"Actually....I was hoping to eat with you today." Hermione said quietly

"Oh." Draco said, of course she can't stay with Harry because Ron would be with him "Sure, Granger. I'll just be a minute."

"It's okay, I'm not in a hurry." Hermione said with a small smile as she sat on the couch patiently

But of course Draco tried his best to get ready like Hermione in a hurry. He wasn't sure why, but he felt the weird urge to make sure she was okay, to take care of her - like she was fragile. "She's Hermione Granger, she's anything but fragile." Draco muttered to himself as he put his Slytherin robes on

Hermione was just starting to read through her Charms essay when Draco came walking down the stairs fresh from the shower "Shall we?" he motioned to the portrait hole

"Are you sure this is fine?" Hermione asked

"You're being uncharacteristically anxious." Draco answered "Of course it is."

"Right." Hermione cleared her throat and straightened her back. Though her expression was hard and confident, her eyes were a different kind of brown storm today - and Draco noticed. "How are you?" Draco asked, almost awkwardly he scolded himself

"Fine." Hermione answered tightly "I mean.. I'll fine." she tried again

"Okay, just asking." Draco cleared his throat and looked away

"We have a meeting with McGonagall at lunch today." Hermione reminded

"Yes, I'll meet you there and we can walk to potions right after." Draco nodded and pushed the doors to the Great Hall open. Hermione's eyes first laid on Ron's, who was sitting with Harry and Ginny on the Gryffindor table. It doesn't look like Harry and Ginny were aware of the situation because they both looked up to meet her gaze with inviting smiles.

Draco asked angrily, his gaze turning icy cold when his eyes met Ron's

"I don't think so." Hermione shook her head with a sigh "They'll know soon enough. Let's go." she tugged at Draco's hand

"Everyone should what a of a man he is." Draco growled lowly, glaring at how people passing by Ron were greeting him with a smile or a clap on the back

"Malfoy,." Hermione urged

"Let me just punch the git for everyone to see, please?" Draco said, staring into both Hermione's pained eyes "I'm saying , Granger."

"No."

"Please."

", Malfoy." Hermione tugged again
