The thing about planning marriage proposals is that many factors need to be considered. By the eve of New Year's, Draco was a nervous wreck. His mother's arrival was, as usual, his saving grace.

Narcissa Malfoy had only met Hermione's parents once. When Draco asked for her hand in marriage. The first day Draco spent with the Granger's, he was sure that he already had them wrapped around his little finger. If he were to succeed with his initial plan, he needed their go-signal as soon as possible.

The Granger's sent Hermione on a trip to the store that day, with an extra long list of things to buy. Narcissa floo in, and together, they spoke with the Grangers regarding the engagement.

The Granger's had only given Draco their blessing after a New Year's eve morning filled with hot cocoa. There was much to be done if he were to make it to his midnight deadline.

"Mother, thank Merlin you're here."

"Where is she?" were Narcissa's first words as she entered the Granger's home

"Upstairs. Celine and Astoria are keeping her distracted. Please tell me you've brought everything." Draco begged

"Draco, you dare underestimate me?" Narcissa looked at her son pointedly

"Of course not, mother. I just want everything to be perfect—"

"Narcissa! You've arrived!" Jean exclaimed delightedly and offered Narcissa a quick hug

"Yes, and I come bearing gifts. Late Christmas presents, if you will." Narcissa smiled and pulled a large bag out from her tiny purse

"You didn't have to." Dan smiled as he took it, unsurprised with the magic that concealed the presents

"Blaise and Pansy?" Draco asked Narcissa

Their friends had pretended to leave earlier, making Hermione believe that only Celine, Theo, Tori and Viktor can stay. Little did she know, they had a little plan in mind.
