Draco laughed at the note before giving it to Hermione to read. She read it quietly and groaned as she said, "I feel horrible that Ginny's been worried."
"Blaise will take care of her," Draco said. He was already scrawling a note in response, letting Blaise know that the two of them were alright. "And if anything, you'll see her tonight."
"I know but still," She said, sitting up and bringing her knees to her chest. "I just feel guilty for leaving her in the dark. And also for skipping a day of classes."
"Are you really still worried about that?" He asked, closing the note and sending it away with a flick of his wrist. "You're at the top of all of your classes, no doubt about that. The professors know that students get sick every so often, so they'll understand you missing one day."
"I've never missed a day though!" She exclaimed, putting her head down.
He laughed and sat up next to her, crossing his legs. "I'm fairly certain you took all of last year off."
She looked up and scowled at him. "That was different."
He shook his head at said, "My point is, that sometimes it's alright to take a day off. And all of the professors know that you are going to make up any work that you missed, so don't worry your head off about it."
"Draco, I don't think you underst-"
She was silenced by his lips suddenly being pressed against hers. She tried to pull away but felt his hand rest against her jawline, his fingers lacing into her hair and his thumb on her cheek. He pulled away after a few moments and grinned at her.
"Sorry, but I needed you to hush for a second," He said.
Scowling at him, she replied, "Well that's rude."
"I said I was sorry," He countered. "I'd be happy to make it up to you though."
"I'm scared to ask how," She said, smirking playfully.
He only smiled in response and leaned in again, pausing slightly to see if she was going to fight him on it. He was surprised slightly when she closed the gap between them, her lips finding his and his other hand reaching up to rest on the other side of her face.
He could feel her smiling against the kiss and his chest welled with happiness as he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. She responded by bringing her arms up around his neck and scooting closer to him, sitting up slightly on her knees.
He felt her shaking slightly and pulled away to lay down and pull her down with him. She was on stop of him at this point but she didn't seem to mind, lowering herself down to resume their kiss. He grinned against her lips and left one hand in her hair while the other one trailed down her arm to her waist, hearing her moan slightly at this.
Something clicked inside of him and he tightened his grasp on her as his kisses became more urgent. She noticed the sudden change and pulled back slightly, putting a hand on his chest and giving him a look.
"Nothing's going to happen," He breathed, though it came out more huskily than he intended.
She nodded and slowly pressed her lips to his again, sighing against him. She had never enjoyed this as much with Ron as she was right now. She and Ron barely even made it this far. Even though she knew she was basically straddling him, she wasn't uncomfortable with the situation like she normally would have. It felt...right. She began to quicken her kisses, unable to hold back the slight moans in between.
He was breathing heavier now and her quiet moans only furthered his need to mark her. He tried to hold it back though, knowing that if he lost control he would definitely ruin things. But as he felt her teeth drag against his bottom lip, he groaned and went to lightly bite her lip in return.
"Ow!"
Hermione sat up suddenly, holding her mouth. He panicked and asked, "What? What's wrong?"
She pulled her hand away and then her eyes went wide when she looked at him. "Draco, you...you have fangs!"
His hand immediately went up to his mouth, feeling around. Sure enough, his canines had grown and were immensely sharp, much like a vampire's.
"Hermione, I'm so sorry, I had no idea!" He exclaimed, sitting up and trying to get a better look at her. "Did I cut you? Are you bleeding?"
She shook her head. "There's no blood; I think you just poked me when you tried to bite my lip."
He was frozen in his spot, just watching her as he caught a whiff of her scent. It was slightly different than her usual scent, more intoxicating than normal. He took in a deep breath, allowing the scent to enter his system and take over his senses, wanting nothing more than to pull her to him again and finally claim her as his.
She noticed his eyes growing dark again and shifted uncomfortably on top of him. He groaned in response and shut his eyes, turning his head away as he fought back against his urges.
"Hermione," He growled slightly, "You need to leave. Right now."
"What?"
He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth, flinching slightly from the new fangs. "If you don't leave right now, I'm going to lose control and mark you."
She immediately lifted herself off of him and jumped off the bed, staring at him as she backed into the door. She didn't want to just leave him like that though, and she swallowed the lump in her throat before asking, "Are you going to be okay?"
He nodded, refusing to look at her. She grabbed the door handle and gave him another look before leaving the room, shutting it quietly behind her.
She didn't realize how much she had wanted everything to continue until she had sat down on the couch, running a hand through her hair and taking a deep breath. It was incredibly intense, and she had been enjoying it. Merlin, she was enjoying it so much she might have even let him mark her right then and there.
The realization of that made her freeze and she stared at the coffee table in front of her. Did she really just admit that to herself? No. It was way too soon for that. They weren't even officially dating!
She got up and paced around slightly, looking at his door every so often. Her logical side chastised her for losing herself like that. She was always in control of herself. Always.
But for once, the small thought of losing herself to her emotions wiggled its way to the front of her mind. And she had absolutely no idea how to react to it. She always ran through a situation logically, and while she knew theoretically what was going to happen, she didn't think that she would be able to lose herself easily in the heat of the moment. That just wasn't like her.
Making her way to her bedroom, she made a mental note to talk to Ginny later. But right now, she needed a shower.
Draco was sitting on his bed, his head in his knees while he took deep breaths. It was taking him longer than he thought to calm down, and as he ran his tongue against his teeth he could still feel his longer-than-normal canines. He groaned and gripped his hair, cursing himself. At least he had ended it before he lost control and marked her.
He didn't want to end it though. He had never enjoyed just snogging any other girl like he did with Hermione; hell, he hardly got that much enjoyment out of having sex with other girls. He knew that no one else would even be able to compare after that quick snog session, not that he would even try. She seemed to enjoy it too, based on the wonderful sounds she was making.
. He pushed away those thoughts with great difficulty. He wanted to relive them again, to feel her sitting on top of him with her arms around him and his own holding her. He knew she wasn't ready or comfortable with continuing though, and he was honestly okay with the fact that they wouldn't go further than that for a while.
Taking one last deep breath, he finally noticed that his fangs were shrinking and he was starting to feel somewhat normal again.
Lifting his head, he looked at the door sadly. He wanted nothing more than to see her standing in the doorway, smiling at him and letting him know it was alright. He tried to search for her emotions, finding a faint trace of nervousness and anxiety. She was also startled by something, but he wasn't sure what. Maybe it was the sight of his fangs.
After he checked his teeth one last time and found them to be their normal size, he stood up and slowly made his way to the door, pausing with his hand hovering over the handle. He knew she wasn't angry, but he also knew that he had definitely surprised her, and it most likely was going to cause her to take two steps back in their relationship. Hell, they weren't even officially dating yet.
Shaking his head, he opened the door and slowly made his way down the stairs. The sound of the shower in Hermione's room caught his ears and he sighed, walking to the kitchen and grabbing a glass of firewhiskey. His Veela was restless and was causing him to move around a lot out of nervousness.
He could feel her emotions roll over each other, changing from confusion to wondering to excitement. Excitement? And then guilt. Back to wondering. Then more excitement, followed by frustration. Then he heard a loud, frustrated groan come from her and he grinned slightly despite himself. He knew she was trying to figure out what she was feeling, and knew that they would most likely have a conversation about it after she had finished with her shower.
Sitting down on the couch, he took a drink of his firewhiskey and distracted himself with his studies. He didn't want to risk thinking about what had happened earlier and risk losing control again when they had their talk, and he proceeded to lose himself into his homework while he waited.
