Hermione's POV
I spent most of that Sunday shopping for food and getting to know the apartment. It was very large and spacious, and I couldn't help but love it even though I still thought it was a bit too much. Throughout the day, I noticed my thoughts kept drifting to Draco. His bright, grey eyes and how he looked at me. He was always smiling whenever I caught him looking at me. The thought sent butterflies into my stomach.
Monday morning came quickly. I woke up easily, excited to see Draco again. As I realized I was rushing to get ready so I could get to work faster, I had to stop myself in the shower and remind myself that I wasn't ready for a relationship. It hadn't even been half a week since I broke off the engagement, I couldn't go rushing into a whole new one.
I still allowed myself to think about him though on my way into the Ministry. I must have been in a daze while I walked into my office because it took Jenn a few moments to get my attention.
"What's got you in such a good mood?" She asked with a grin.
"Hm?" I hummed before realizing what she asked. "Oh, it's nothing. I just had a good weekend with friends."
She raised an eyebrow and hummed to herself. "Friends, or a particular blond man who took you out to lunch on Friday?"
"It was a business lunch, Jenn," I scowled.
"Whatever you say, Hermione."
When she left, I rolled my eyes but still smiled again. I then remembered that I had to get Seamus, and I scrawled a quick note to him and sent it off with the others, hoping that he was in his office already.
A quick pop into my office told me that he was. Seamus stood in the middle of my office, grinning at me. "'Mione! It's been too long since I've heard from you!"
"Hello, Seamus," I said with a smile, standing up to give him a hug. "I know it's been a few months, I'm sorry! We need to go to lunch soon and catch up!"
"Agreed!" He sighed and then gestured towards me. "So what's up? What do you need my magical abilities for?"
I laughed slightly. "I have a matter that I need some help with. A client has told me that one of his employees is a werewolf, and that a different employee found out and might possibly tell others since he is very anti-werewolf."
"Ahh," Seamus nodded. "So we need to do a memory alteration?"
"Precisely," I said. "Are you free anytime today?"
He chewed on the inside of his cheek for a moment as he thought and then he perked up. "Actually yes! I have a task that I need to take care of but it should only be an hour or so. Should be free right around ten."
"That's perfect!" I exclaimed. "Is it alright if we do this in your office? I'm afraid that if we do it in mine he'll start to piece things together and realize werewolves have something to do with it."
"Well if you want, I can make him think that he was dealing with a poltergeist and that he came to you because Roberts isn't in today," He offered. "That way we don't have to worry about moving everyone since I'm assuming they're coming here."
I thought on it for a few moments and nodded. "That sounds good actually. Just let me know when you get back so I can tell Draco to bring his employee over."
"Draco?" Seamus's brow furrowed. "Not Draco Malfoy, right?"
I quietly cursed myself and sighed. "Yes, he's my client."
His mouth formed into a thin line and he nodded after a few moments. "It'll be interesting seeing him again."
"He's actually changed a lot, he took me out to lunch on Friday to explain the situation with his employees," I said.
He gave me a look and raised an eyebrow. "'Mione, are you sure that's smart?"
I laughed. "Seamus, he's not going to do anything to me."
"I know, I just worry," He grinned slightly. "You need to come over soon and see the girls. They're getting big."
I smiled at him. He and Dean had gotten together finally after the war and adopted two beautiful little girls three years ago. They actually lived not far from Luna and her husband, Rolf, and we were long overdue for a dinner all together.
"I'd be happy to come over soon, I know Ginny will want to see them too," I said. "And it'll be good to see Dean; I haven't seen him since the last time I was over, which was too long ago."
"Yes, it was!" He sighed. "Well, I need to be getting back so I can complete my task before I come back."
He gave me a hug and then disapparated, leaving me alone in my office. I went back to my desk and grabbed my phone, sending a quick text to Draco.
I got a quick response back from him.
I smiled down at my phone for a moment before placing it back down on my desk and grabbing one of my other cases in an attempt to distract myself until then.
There was a knocking on my door, and I quickly looked up to see Jenn. She was giving me an odd look and said, "Hermione, um, your ex fiancé is outside wanting me to let him in to see you."
I glared at the door. "Absolutely not. He is not allowed in here."
She nodded and I looked up at the clock before waving her over to me. She came in, shutting the door behind her and asked quietly, "Want me to hex him?"
I grinned before shaking my head. "No, I don't want you getting in trouble. He's probably going to be difficult though. And I'm also expecting Draco and another guest very shortly; if they show up, can you just wave them in?"
"Definitely," She grinned again before winking at me.
"It's business, Jenn," I said with a scowl.
"Yes, Hermione," She laughed while leaving the room.
I rolled my eyes and heard her tell Ron to leave, followed by him arguing. I didn't realize I was holding my breath in anticipation until I heard him finally stomp off, followed by the elevator dinging and opening.
""
Oh no.
"Ah, Weasel. Excuse me, please; I have urgent business that I need to attend to."
There was nothing but the sound of footsteps, and then he appeared in my doorway, smiling at me.
"Hello, Hermi-"
There was a sudden flash of red light and Malfoy stumbled forward, falling to the ground in shock. His employee pulled out his wand and aimed it outside of the door while I scrambled from behind my desk and rushed to Draco.
