Ch. 31

Hermione's POV

The next week passed by quickly, and soon it was Friday night, the night of Ginny and Harry's Halloween party. It was a little late considering that Halloween was during the week leading up to it, but no one minded, especially since it was another reason for everyone to get dressed up.

I was able to convince Draco to go as Hades and Persephone, which he seemed excited about after I explained who they were. His only concern was that we would have to explain who we were to everyone.

"That's part of the fun!" I said from the bathroom as I worked on my makeup. I decided to go with a very earthy, natural look since most of the attention would be on the leaves and flowers in my hair. "And it's not like we'll have to remind them after we've already told them."

"No, but are they going to know who we are even after we say their names?" He asked from the bedroom.

"It's just a simple explanation," I shrugged. "They are the Greek god and goddess of the Underworld."

"I guess that works."

I smiled slightly and shook my head, finishing my makeup and moving on to working on my hair. I was going to wear it down and loose, taming the locks into beachy waves. Thankfully it didn't take long, using a mix of Sleekeazy's and hair-controlling spells that Ginny had taught me. After that was done, I pinned back a couple of locks that were on the side of my head towards the back and conjured up many flowers. I placed them around my head, pinning them into the curls in a way that resembled a crown and added a few leaves between the flowers.

When I was satisfied with the finished look, I left the bathroom to see Draco finishing up his robes. He managed to get Pansy to fashion our costumes, and I was delighted to see how they had turned out. Of course, my dress looked a bit more formal, but I still liked it and it fit with the vision I had.

Draco's costume was a set of black draping robes that were pinned up at his left shoulder with a large, gold button. He had a black cloth belt that went around his waist, and he had matching black sandals. He frowned in the mirror and said, "I look like I'm wearing a dress."

I laughed. "That's what the Greeks wore, love. People will know you're a god, don't worry."

He continued to frown but didn't say anything else as he adjusted his robes again. I went to the closet and grabbed my own dress, quickly pulling off my robe and stepping into it so that I wouldn't mess up any of the flowers in my hair. He smiled at me when I stepped out, crossing the room and helping with my zipper.

"I need to get Pansy to design more clothes for you," He commented as he pulled the zipper up on my dress. "She hasn't disappointed yet."

"I wouldn't mind having more work clothes," I said, shrugging as I pulled a gold belt around my waist for extra measure and to match his costume slightly more. "But it's not very necessary."

"Nonsense, it's very necessary." He turned me around and looked me up and down, smiling. "You are simply beautiful, you know that?"

I smiled and gave him a kiss. "You remind me every day."

"I just don't want you forgetting," He said, kissing my forehead. "The flowers are a nice touch!"

"I figured it would help with the idea," I shrugged, pulling away to lace up my sandals. "I'm almost ready."

"Good, because any longer in this outfit here and I'm going to change," He said, going back to the mirror.

I rolled my eyes and stood up, grabbing his arm and disapparating us to the street in front of Grimmauld Place. He laughed when we landed and said, "Merlin, sweetheart, I wasn't serious!"

I laughed too and led him up towards the walk, where number 12 was supposed to be. The buildings of 11 and 13 separated and revealed the darker number 12, and I pulled my wand out from the laces of my sandal before pointing it towards the door. The serpent doorknocker suddenly came to life and the door clicked unlocked. I pushed the door open and led Draco inside.

The loud music greeted us, and soon we were surrounded by many other guests all in completely different costumes. George was dressed as Van Gogh, which surprised me as I didn't think he knew who the famous artist was.

"I did a bit of research on one-eared people," He told me, laughing. "He was the top choice."

"I like it!" I said, laughing as well. "It's very ingenious!"

"So, who are you two?" George asked, gesturing between Draco and I.

"Hades and Persephone!" I answered excitedly.

George gave me a confused look and I went on, "The Greek god and goddess of the Underworld."

"Alright, that sounds pretty cool!" George said, gesturing towards Draco and grinning. "You look like you need a drink, my good sir."

"I could certainly use one," Draco agreed, looking down at his outfit. "I'm pretty much wearing a dress; could use all the liquid courage I can get."
