Chapter 9: Farm of Emotion

I forced my eyes open and peered up at the stunning morning sun. Something was pushing across my face, making me itch. I experienced a sensation of a million needles piercing my entire body. I rose to my feet and arched my back forward.

My back ached as if I had been lying here for a millennium, according to the sensation it was giving off. When I turned to look around, all I could see were the many grains of golden-brown wheat dancing all about my body.

I touched the parched earth with my palm. A strange feeling filled the palms of my hands. It appeared almost as though I had never stood before. I positioned myself on my feet and stood up after experiencing a strong inclination. The volume of wheat grew beyond my field of view.

It seemed like a farm made up of a thousand football fields. I saw many people standing by as I cast a glance over the field. Likely slaves. They were harvesting this gorgeous farm.

I kept sweeping my gaze across the golden wheat tiles. It's a home, I think I see a house shining up almost like a come here trap sign. I've got to go there. I began advancing over the wheat field. My body ached from the wheat everywhere.

I only glanced around to observe these poor slaves casting fleeting looks at my current situation. I accidentally ran into a female slave since I wasn't paying attention. I probably wouldn't have seen her even if I had been looking because of her wheat golden hair.

Her yellow eyes shone as brightly as though an angel were observing me from a distance. After staring at her for a while, I finally murmured, "My mistake."

"Please forgive me, I didn't look. I beg you, spare me "I was shocked by her final remarks. It was almost like she was begging for her life.

Her sobs sprang out. Her face was continuously being covered with tears as they formed. The fortitude to speak was beyond my reach. As I passed by her, I lightly touched her shoulders. She looked at me in an almost stunned condition.

The crimson mansion that shines like a glow stick is where I want to go to. It was exhausting to walk through this wheat since every single action I made caused pain across my entire body. I approached the gloomy home gently.

I could hear murmuring as I drew near the door. I softly eavesdrop and whisper, "It's a woman," as I lean closer to the door. Almost as though they knew I was there, everything became silent. Unexpectedly, the door started to open.

Prior to plummeting to the ground, I was able to hold on to the door frame. Very close. Oh shit, I hastily looked up, and there was the strong knight man from earlier.

In the shadowy corner of the room, a somber voice murmured, "Percival, leave him here." I dared not to look away from the guard standing in front of me. I could tell it was a woman's voice.

Percival shoved me out of the way after he gave me a short glance and moved on. As he passed me, my shoulder landed on the ground. He gave the place a cursory glance before leaving.

I hear footsteps. She stuck out her hand to me and apologized. "Sorry about that." I resisted taking her hand and got up off the ground.

She turned around and moved in the direction of a chair. I cast a brief peek her way. She made nice, caressing motions. Crossing her arms, she sat down in the chair. She continued, "Please have a seat," in a charmingly sweet voice that almost had me nod off. But I wasn't going to fall for it. I have to be alert right now.

I could see she was watching me from head to toe as I moved towards the chair. She wasn't even attempting to divert her attention as I looked her in the eyes, so she was probably examining me. I made a rapid movement to yank a chair out and sat down.

"What is your name?" It nearly seemed like I was speaking to a high-ranking military as she inquired with her lovely voice. However, it had a certain charm.

I hastily diverted my gaze when I realized she was staring me in the face. It was almost as if I had committed a sin as a terrified young child. As I spoke my name, I cast my gaze to the ground. "Charles, I'm Charles."

"Charles is such a lovely name. Call me Reia. I am the farm's proprietor. All the individuals outside, including the guard you just met, receive jobs. I suppose things were difficult for you." She remarked while looking over my physique. I was simply wearing a little shirt and shorts. I am somewhat embarrassed.

"What hardships would someone like, you know? While those outside are perishing, it must be pleasant to be here!" I spoke plainly, like if something had broken inside of me. She remained silent as I turned to stare out the window at the field.

My attention was drawn to her as soon as she got to her feet. She began removing her clothing. The jacket she was donning hid most of her body. Under the jacket, which she unzipped, was something resembling a tank top. I could see it once she removed the jacket.

Her body was pallid, covered in bruises, and had stiffened skin. While setting the jacket on her chair, her face was pale. "Do you assume it's just you? Are you the only one who experiences difficulties?" Desperate and agonized, her eyes betrayed her. Her attractive and adorable face is being progressively covered with tears.

She cried out and dropped to her knees with a loud thud. I wasn't able to accomplish anything as my abrupt surprise appeared. After rising from the chair, I took a seat in front of her. She didn't turn away as I extended my hands to her face. She shook her head, and I cradled her face in my hands as tears filled her eyes. Even though I didn't really know her, I felt anxious about her because of the sad, painful look in her eyes.

She kept saying, in a delicate and broken voice, "I just wanted a regular life too." She sobbed and collapsed onto my hands. "I never wanted it to be this way," she says.

She muttered while I was admiring her hair, "I simply wanted to rescue my mother." I'm feeling some sort of emotional response to her remarks as well. I'm unable to reject it. My hand was toying with her delicate white hair as I laid it on the back of her head.

Moving swiftly, she raised her head. Our lips were almost in contact as our faces were close to one another.

This is it? Will this be the scenario where I get my first kiss ever? She doesn't want this, that much is clear. It's simply her feelings. We remained there for a little period until she abruptly jumped up from the wooden ground and hurriedly went away.

"Excuse me, I sometimes get too emotional." As if she had done something wrong, she spoke out. I got to my feet and swiftly grabbed for her. She let go of her jacket and covered her face with her hands. It almost seems as if she was worried I might hurt her.

As she covered her face, her fingers trembled. I didn't mean to hurt her in any way. I was facing her once again as I moved her shaking fingers out of the way. She really is stunning. I released my grip on her slowly disintegrating fingers and tightened my embrace around her.

She drew me nearer while her body shook in the cold. She held onto me tightly as I could feel her fingers encircling my body. I could hear her crying as she fixed her eyes on the ground. I felt an emotional connection to her in some manner.

It is almost as though we have a lot in common. I finally felt like I could talk to someone who understood me for the first time in a while. I carefully lowered my head upon hers. We stayed in this position until she shed every last tear that had been building up.
