Day 46

"Rey?"

"Yeah?"

"What the hell are you doing?"

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is, why the hell are you packing a suitcase?"

"Cause —"

"Cause what?"

"Cause I'm leaving in —" Rey paused counting her fingers, "4 days."

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean Poe is that I'm leaving this goddamn town and doing something with my life!"

"But Rey, you don't need to leave. You can't just run away from your problems!"

"I can and I will."

"Rey!"

"What?"

"But Ben —"

"What about Ben?"

"You made amends with him, why can't you just stay? He loves you, you love him and me and Finn will miss you too much!"

"He shouldn't love me," Rey responded icily as she continued to pack, "it's stupid."

"Rey, stop bringing yourself down. You deserve to be loved by someone, you really do."

"No I don't," Rey shook her head, "it's selfish, love is just a distraction."

"No it's not."

"Yes it is," Rey hissed finishing up her packing, "all it does is get you hurt in the end!"

"Rey you're hurting now cause you pushed him away not because you're willing to love him."

"Don't you ever get it? I can't! It's just too much! It's selfish! Just selfish!"

"Rey —"

"I can't! Love has never been good for me! All it did was get me hurt! I've built up these walls for years and he decides to pull them down in an instant. I didn't waste my years away building my heart up for nothing!"

"Rey — please listen!"

"Just stop Poe! Nothing you could say will convince me. I'm leaving, my heart just can't take it anymore. In 4 days Rey Kenobi will be gone, tell Ben I'll miss him. I'll miss you guys too but I can't.

"Rey you can, stop saying you can't because you know it's a lie. You're just afraid, too afraid."

Rey sighed avoiding his gaze before Poe walked out of the room.
