The Overseeing World

The overseeing worlds were anything but simple. They were filled with complicated and overlapping hierarchies. The general purpose of these worlds was to see to the affairs of the most intelligent species of each planet. The beings working in the overseeing world were known by mortals as angels but they referred to themselves as over-watchers. There was an overseeing world assigned to each planet and Guy worked in the Justice department of the OW for the Zelia planet. His most recent project was an eighteen year old girl named Faith from the Salem continent.

" She took the deal." Guy said as he walked up to his supervisor's desk. The Zelia overseeing world was located right above the clouds of the planet and stretched far and wide above all continents and oceans of the planet.

"That is great. Good for her. Go back down and complete the process. We will make further arrangements when she makes a decision what period she wants to go to. After she is settled, you can take on another project while keeping an eye on her."

"Can I take a 5 year break from new projects? I will still be responsible for Faith within that period." Guy asked with little hope of an approval.

"Hmm. You've taken projects continuously for the past century. I guess it is about time you lighten your load. For the next 5 years, you will not be taking any new projects. Afterwards you can take two to three additional projects. Go find her."

As Guy descended to the lowest clouds, he still had problem locating Faith. He could not sense her at the hospital, at her home or at the vacation hotel. He could not sense her in the Salem continent at all.

"It is only 10th November, there is no way the Grim Reaper could change the death date without notice." Guy thought out loud. He enhanced his senses to locate her anywhere on the planet.

"Tupot!"

In the past couple days, Faith's blended family became....well ...unblended. There was a lot of drama and Faith felt responsible for it. Sandra still had hope that her daughter could beat her terminal illness if she was transported to one of the best hospitals in the world. Tupot was a continent known for its advancements in medicine and all forms of technology.

After a lot of thought and so much desperation, Sandra went to her ex-husband Jamie to ask for help. After, their divorce, Jamie had cut all contact with Sandra and his children after she got remarried. He even refused to be of any financial support to the children. Sandra buried her pride and went to ask Jamie for help despite Faith not being his child. Jamie agreed to help on one condition. Sandra had to leave her husband and go back to him. Without much thought, Sandra agreed. This made Faith's father mad- understandably so. Sandra was disappointed that her husband could not sacrifice their relationship for their daughter. Things got nasty between them, leaving Faith and her siblings in an awkward position. Before long, Faith was already en route to Germania, a country in Tupot with the best medical advancements in the world.

It was barely a day since Faith and her mom were in Germania and Faith was urgently in need of a lighter. She had 5 days to live and her only hope was Guy. However, asking for a lighter made her mom suspect she was a smoker. That seemed to have made her grey hair greyer. And Faith did not dare ask for a lighter again.

The doctors in Germania gave Sandra even worse news than those in Cher. Faith could die anytime soon. In fact, it was a miracle she was still alive.

"The doctors in Cher must have been better that these doctors. Why was I greedy? At least they could have made you live for a couple more months." Sandra chose to believe that the doctors in Cher could prolong Faith's life.

"Don't say that mom!" Faith begged Sandra not to blame herself. She patted her mother's back as she bawled in a 'sujood'-like position with her hands crossed behind her head.

"This is my punishment. I am so sorry Faith. Mom is so sorry." She lamented.

Faith managed to get her off the floor and onto the hospital bed. This time, they were in a private room.

"Is this what I sacrificed my relationship with your father for? I cannot be with Jamie! I will figure out a way to be pay off what we owe him. Faith, do you know why I named you Faith? At age 50, when I did not expect to be able to have more children, I had you. Your father did not have biological children and I wanted to give him one so bad. So I prayed hoping if there was a real God out there ,he would help me. And then I had you. I wasn't religious before, but you gave me faith. So, I want to have faith once more. Faith, you will be fine."

Sandra got a headache after crying so much and after taking a tablet, she crashed on the bed. Faith was on the couch, in a pensive state.
