Kelvin was really confused about his next course of action. The message from the mysterious echoing voice, had ended a few minutes ago; even though the message was clear and gave the exam candidates a specific task to do, Kelvin hadn't moved an inch from where he was.
"Wait is that it? They're just going to dump us on a god forsaken island and tell us to kill some beasts?" Kelvin said with doubt and disbelief written all over his face.
Although Kelvin had his doubts, he wouldn't be so surprised if what the message projected eventually turns out to be true. So just in case, he tightened his grip on his sword.
"I guess I should head to the green beacon." Kelvin said while walking deeper into the dense vegetation of the island.
The green light beacon shot up so high into the sky to the point that it could be seen from literally anywhere on the island. Kelvin proceeded towards the assigned location; he used his sword to cut through the grasses and vegetation that covered his path. Kelvin followed the path he created to an open and lesser dense area; he looked around the area, hoping to avoid as much danger and trouble as possible.
After looking around, and confirming that the coast was clear, Kelvin made an attempt to continue but stopped. This was because he noticed a distortion in the air in front of him; the distortion started to increase and after that a portal opened.
Although Kelvin was surprised, he wasn't really bothered about the portal; what really troubled him was the monstrosity that came out of the portal soon after.

In a separate location on the island, Carl and Ray were currently running away from a pack of demonic beasts called the hell hound. A while back, during the jet drop off, both Carl and Ray got blown off to the same direction; and just like Kelvin, Carl had no lost his parachute. Ray saw Carl going on a free fall without a parachute and offered to share his own; that is how the both of them ended up together.
"Why the hell would they drop us out of a flying plane?" Carl asked in annoyance.
"My guess would be to spread us in different locations across the island." Ray answered.
"What about your friend Ken, should we go and look for him?"
"No, he will be fine; we should just focus on the exam." Carl said.
"I just hope he doesn't encounter anything that would force him to use his demonic power." Carl thought inwardly.
Both Carl and Ray heard the same message from the echoing voice and started to head to the green light beacon. On their way there, they encountered a pack of hell hound demonic beasts and that led to their current situation.
The hell hound was a dog like demonic beast; and they are slightly larger than your average dog. A distinguishable feature of the hell hound was the fact that they always moved in packs. In terms of appearance, the hell hound had a tarred black body, with barely any flesh covering it; parts of their skeleton were visible and lava was driveling out of their mouths.
At first Ray and Carl tried to fight off the hell hounds but they were vastly outnumbered and over whelmed, so they resulted to running. They ran deeper into the island in an attempt to shake off the hell hounds; That would have worked if the hell hounds weren't fast enough to catch up to them.
The hell hounds continued in their pursuit, which was bad for Carl and Ray, because a few distance ahead of them was the edge of a cliff.
"Hey, Carl I have an idea."
"Well, whatever it is you better hurry it up because we are seriously running out of options here." Carl said.
Ray put his hand into his quiver and brought out 5 identical looking arrows with unique designs.
"I wasn't planning on using this so early into the exam, but I guess we have no other choice."
"What do the arrows do?" Carl asked, as he was expecting something better.
"They explode; when you reach the edge of the cliff, jump as far away as you can."
They continued to charge on, closing the distance between them and the cliff. On reaching the edge of the cliff, they jumped, and Ray started to put his plan in motion. Now imagine this in slow motion; while he was still in the air, Ray turned his body and was now directly facing the hell hounds behind him. He stringed the five explosive arrows to his bow, and aimed at the center of the 40 or so hell hounds.
When he acquired a good aim at his target, Ray fired the explosive arrows. The arrows left the bow string with tremendous speed, and as soon as the arrows hit the specified target, a huge explosion erupted, killing all the demonic hell hounds and at the same time, clearing out a huge chunk of the area.
The force of the explosion blasted Ray and Carl further away, as they fell and descended down the cliff. At the end of the cliff was a really shallow lake, with lots of rocks and boulders sticking out. So to avoid falling to their deaths, Carl got to action and quickly stabbed his trusted chained dagger deep into the cliff, to use it as a support; he then went on to grab Ray's hand, in other to stop his descend. Now the both of them were hanging by the cliff's edge.
Although the explosion solved the problem with the hell hounds, it also invited or rather attracted a lot of unwanted and troubling visitors.

At the same time, Kelvin was currently in a heated battle with a huge, ugly looking, reptilian demonic beast.
The beast possessed a black scaled skin, with streaks of bright red energy pulsing through it. It had a humanoid body structure; and also had a set of four arms, two extremely pointy horns, and a really long tail. The beast was two times larger than the average human being and was also very violent in nature; a clear trait that showed that the beast lacked intelligence.
The first few times after its arrival, the demonic beast had relentlessly attacked with full speed; but after getting cut several times by Kelvin, its speed and strength gradually reduced.
"I have to say, the inscription on the sword is really effective. I just have to cut it a few more times and I will be able to defeat it." Kelvin said, while charging in for another attack.
Kelvin's swordsmanship was really sloppy and far from impressive; one could even say he was doing child's play with his sword. This goes a lot to show how unskilled and bad Kelvin was at using a sword. Kelvin continued with his usual series of attack, which includes the violent swinging of his sword at the demonic beast, in hope that he would be able to cut it. The reptilian demonic beast dodged most of Kelvin's attacks, but in a few occasions, the sword would graze through its scales a few times.
Out of anger and frustration, the demonic beast gave an ear piercing roar and then punched Kelvin really hard on the stomach using two of its arms. The blow would have been lethal and would have left Kelvin with a few broken ribs if it wasn't for the sword, which he used to reduce the impact of the punch. Although Kelvin reduced the impact of the punch, it was still strong enough to blow him away; this caused Kelvin to slam his back really hard on a nearby tree.
Kelvin coughed out a mixture of saliva and blood; he was in a whole lot of pain.
"How the hell is this stupid beast still so strong? It's almost like the sword isn't affecting it at all." Kelvin said, as he stood up.
The beast charged towards Kelvin, and jumped; it raised all four of its arms and brought it down in an attempt to squash Kelvin flat. Luckily for Kelvin, he was able to see this on time and rolled off to the side, avoiding the attack; he looked up and saw the exposed side of the demonic beast, and went for an attack.
He quickly closed the distance between himself and the demonic beast, and lifted his sword, going for a downward strike. Kelvin was fast, but the beast was faster; the beast was able to sense an incoming attack and quickly grabbed Kelvin on the arm, and lifted him up with no effort at all. The beast used its two upper arms to grab hold of Kelvin's arms and using its downward arms, the beast delivered a series of powerful blows to Kelvin's stomach.
Kelvin was at a huge disadvantage; although he learnt how to control his powers to a somewhat decent level, he could only control his own blood. Not that controlling external blood could help him in this situation; he wasn't even sure the demonic beast had any form of blood, because so far he hadn't seen any. Plus he couldn't risk exposing himself to the demon hunters. Even though there were no cameras on the island, Kelvin was pretty sure they were being watched through some other means.
The feeling of immense pain on his stomach was unbearable and Kelvin was about to lose consciousness; that was until he heard a gunshot that splattered the head of the reptilian demonic beast, killing it on the spot.
