Danger

After going to the prison, I know I have to warn y/n, just in case.

It's been a day, and I really wanted to tell her last night.

But I don't really know how to bring that up.

'Oh, just an FYI my psychotic dad could possibly escape jail and kidnap you again!'

I don't think so.

So as I meander my way to her house, I think about how to mention it.

Once I see the post office, an idea forms.

I've been purposely avoiding the mail in case dear ol' dad had written again, but if he has, it may help the subject along.

So I hide to detransform, let Plagg get settled in my bag, and go in.

After unlocking the box and taking out everything, I flip through it.

Just as suspected, another letter with the prison as a return address.

"Mail cheese?" Plagg asks.

I laugh and shake my head, since his magazine hasn't renewed.

He scoffs and starts looking through the bag for cheese.

I decide to go ahead and walk home to deposit everything besides the letter, and Plagg can eat.

But that was a bad idea, since a few fans run after me.

I try to be nice, but I really just want to get home, so then I can go see y/n.

When I finally get to my front door, at least a half hour has gone by, in the time it should've taken five minutes.

I go in, and when I stop by the kitchen to get some cheese, there stands Aunt Amelie, looking around in the cabinets.

"Adrien, sweetie! So glad you're back!" She says, as she turns and sees me.

I try to not seem suspicious of her, but it probably doesn't go all that well.

"Uh, hey. What are you doing?"

"Just looking for a glass! Usually I'd expect someone to get it for me, but I can't seem to find anyone."

"Oh yeah, I let them take off for a while between Christmas and New Years."

"Uh-huh. Well, where are the glasses?"

"In there." I say, nodding to a cabinet away from the one she was just searching.

"Right, thanks. Whatcha got there?" She asks, nodding to the stack of envelopes I pulled out so they wouldn't get cheese all over them.

"Just the mail."

"Ooh, anything interesting?"

"Not really. Bills, fashion stuff."

I don't exactly want her to know about the letters my father has sent.

Especially if she really has been going to see him.

"Oh yeah? What sort of fashion stuff? Do people still order things?"

"It's mostly the opposite, they cancel orders."

"Huh. I can take care of those, if you'd like. Your parents did ask me to help sometimes, when Gabriel was just getting started."

"I don't know, it's not that hard, I can do it."

"Well ok, but if you ever need help with it just ask."

"Thanks Aunt Amelie." I say, and turn around to go up to my room, but while I'm throwing a snack for me into my bag, I drop a few letters.

I try to get them all before she does, but she ends up grabbing the only one I really didn't want her to see.

"Oh, Adrien. I didn't know your father was writing to you."

"Yeah, he only has a couple times. It's probably just a Christmas thing."

"Yes, maybe."

"I wonder if he'd sent you something to your house in London? Maybe asking you to come check on me, since he didn't know you already did?" I suggest, figuring I might as well try to see if she's been in contact with him.

"No, our Butler has been forwarding any mail to me online, and I haven't received anything from him."

"So you haven't been in contact with him?"

"Not at all."

"Right. I was just wondering."

Then I get out of there as fast as I can, without seeming even stranger than I already did.

It seemed like she was telling the truth, but I'm not sure.

Besides, if it wasn't her visiting him, then who?

And why?

I don't know, but I do know that I have to go, so I can warn y/n.

There's no telling when my father is wanting to put whatever plan he may have into action.

So once I've made sure Plagg has eaten and is ready, I transform and grab the letter.

Stuffing it into my pocket as I look out the window to check that nobody is around, then jump out.

I keep a watch out for anything as I make my way to y/n's house.

Though the only thing of interest I see is that guy Jean chatting up some girl in the park.

But I stop short, when I realize where they're sitting, and what the girl looks like.

That's not just

That's girl.

My girl.

Not in a possessive way, of course.

But still, he's supposed to be leaving her alone.

From the building I'm on, I can't hear their conversation, but from what I can tell, y/n is letting him have it.

I try to get over to the tree she always sits under, which is where they're at.

Just in case I need to step in.

Not that she couldn't kick his sorry butt.

"Go away! You've been told to leave me alone. This makes twice! So shoo!" Y/n says.

"Oh come on, why? I thought we bonded! Remember our books?!"

"There are tons of people in Paris who like them, I'm sure. Go find someone else!"

"But they won't be as cute as you!"

"Maybe they will. And maybe they'll be single!"

"Whatever." Jean says, standing up.

"!" He sings as he walks away.

"Cat Noir is way hotter than you, thank you very much!" Y/n calls after him, and I try to hold it in, but I laugh so hard I almost fall out of the tree.

She quickly looks up and must see me.

"Cat!! How long have you been there?!"

"Oh, just long enough to hear how hot I am." I say, dropping down beside her on the bench.

Still laughing.

"So you're creeping on me?"

"Nah, I was just wondering what Mr. Bigshot was doing back."

"Wanting me to come to another meeting of the book club."

"Ah. Well, I'm glad I found you, before I went all the way to your house!"

"It's like five minutes from here? Probably only two, in your case."

"Yeah, but still. Anyway, if we could go somewhere private that'd be great."

"What for? Wanting to talk about how hot you are again?"

"Ha ha, very funny. I was actually hoping to talk about something more serious." I say, and pull out the letter enough for her to see.

"Oh. Yeah, we can go. Is my balcony ok?"

"That's fine."

We stand up, and she lets me pick her up and vault us into the sky.

I don't know how I'm going to tell her about the danger she could be in.
