Chapter 3: Weekend With Lorelai

Lorelai thought about the best way to explain to Lucy what happened over the weekend, without lying to her anyway, as for some reason, she had trouble lying to her. And it's not that a lot occurred or was difficult to describe, but Lorelai knew she had to be careful with what she said, keeping her facts straight. It was a typical weekend for her but most of the activities weren't family-friendly, I suppose that's the easiest way to describe it. "Well... I had a date on Friday" Lorelai said and Lucy got excited, asking for all the details, what they were like, what she did with them, if they treated her nice, and what she wore on said date. "Well I did dress up a little and it was right around sunset when we met up, we took a nice walk until it was dark out so just before 7 I guess," Lorelai said as her mind flashed back to what actually happened.

Lorelai was certainly dressed up but it wasn't what one would normally wear on a date, hell, you couldn't even tell it was her as not only was her face covered, but her body seemed to be a slightly different shape, maybe even a little taller. Lorelai had on full body armour, including thick metal toe boots that gave her an extra 8 centimetres in height, it was the kind of gear a motorcyclist might wear, it covered every inch except for the very tips of her fingers. As for her head and face she, of course, had it covered, wearing an all-black custom tactical motorcycle helmet, she built it herself, along with the suit, altering and updating it over the years. Lorelai couldn't see it changing much more in the near future though as the way it was structured and padded protected her well enough. It also gave her more of a full masculine frame, hiding her true identity even better which was key to remaining hidden.

She was already on his trail, following him down the lane from the rooftops above, jumping between the buildings but there wasn't a thrill to it anymore, as Lorelai had done this so many times. It was clockwork for her, a routine she had down so well she never second-guessed herself, she never hesitated, and always got her mark. She quickly leaped over the next building, getting ahead of him, waiting for the exact moment to step over the edge and slide down the wall into the alley below. Lorelai landed, doing so without making a sound before purposefully knocking over a garbage bin, getting the man's attention. The man pulled out his gun, telling whoever was in the alley to come out and that he was armed, but nothing happened. Lorelai made no sound or movement towards the man, she knew he couldn't see her as it was too dark, merely waiting for him to take a step closer.

The man tensed up slightly as he stepped further into the alley, telling whoever was there to come out or he'd shoot, so Lorelai did. Lorelai lunged forward and in one swift motion, grabbed the barrel of the gun, lifting it up, crushing it at the same time before tearing it out of his hands. She then used her other hand to strike him in the neck, a direct hit against the Carotid Artery, knocking the man unconscious. Lorelai knew she would only have a few seconds before the man would wake up, quickly injecting something disguised as an EpiPen. The man's body went completely limp, he wouldn't be waking up for a long time but Lorelai didn't slow down, taking the man's phone, wallet, keys, etc. She then quickly stuffed him in the expanding duffle bag she had, carefully securing the bag onto her back before leaping onto the wall. In an instant, Lorelai's claws appeared through the tips of her gloves, using them to scale the building with incredible speed, quickly making her way back home.

"Yeah, he was quite confident at first, intense even, but the poor guy was a nervous wreck once we were alone, he didn't want to answer any of my questions," Lorelai said to Lucy, followed by a fake-sounding laugh as her friend told her that was definitely a Red Flag. "You can't do this to me man, I got rights!", the man said, bound to a chair in Lorelai's creepy and secret room in her basement. "Last time I checked, dead bodies don't have rights", Lorelai said as she sat down at the table across from him, getting out a notebook and pen. The man froze up at her words, soon saying there were laws and that she wouldn't get away with this, but Lorelai only smiled, she had heard that line so many times before. Lorelai leaned back in her chair, placing her feet on the table, "here's the thing John-" she began, but John interrupted, saying "my name's not John man, you got the wrong guy". Lorelai glared at the man, her expression as cold as the Arctic as she took her feet off the table, slowly leaning in to tell him something.

"I know your name isn't John, but seeing as there's no point in me learning it, I shall call you John, the same as every other man I've brought down here," John's face dropped, but before he could open his mouth to say anything, Lorelai spoke. "I know exactly who you are but I don't really care, I pick my victims based on what they do and who they know, for example, I know you have been convicted of murder on three separate occasions, convicted of Aggravated Assault seven times, eleven accounts of Armed Robbery, along with dozens of charges of Domestic, Child, and Animal Abuse, among other things," she paused, letting it sink in for him before continuing. "I know you're an active member of the Sons Of Blood, one of three major gangs that run this city, you're a high-ranking member who's supposedly in hiding right now, it's why you were in that part of town, you were heading off to buy your cigars because you couldn't find the pack you bought two days ago," Lorelai paused again, letting John put two and two together, as she tossed an open pack of cigars on the table before explaining what was going to happen. "Here's the thing Johnny Boy, I have a few questions and I know you have the answers I'm looking for, and you can try to fight back all you like but I will get the answers I need, one way or another... and just so you know, you won't be leaving here alive, now you can either cooperate or I can make the last hour of your life more painful than you can even imagine", Lorelai said, giving him a bored but intense look before saying it was his choice.

"It did take some time but he eventually opened up, but of course, I had to work my charms, the kind no human can resist", Lorelai joked, pretending to act all flirty and sassy with her friend. "He was pretty much putty in my hands after that, it was actually almost sad how easy it was, I had hoped that he'd make it a little harder, whatever, it's not like we'll see him again," Lorelai said as she stared off out the bus window at nothing, feeling numb and empty as she thought about it. They always resisted, not that it mattered as by the end Lorelai would have all the answers she needed and they'd be more or less braindead. After that, she'd come over, get in real close, and place her hands on their face, draining their lifeforce until they were cold and stiff. As Lorelai did so her hair would grow and for the next several hours Lorelai would feel amazing, with all this energy coursing through her body she wouldn't feel any pain. But eventually, it would wear off and she'd have to find other ways to numb the pain.

"So what did you do Saturday, Lorelai?" Lucy asked as she sat down in a newly opened seat with her friend adjusting to stay close, the lady in question responded by admitting she did some community service. In reality, Lorelai's community service was scouting and taking down the main headquarters for the Sons Of Blood, raiding and knocking out everyone involved. She'd then located their stash, checking to see what they had before seeing what information they had on other gangs in the area. There was the usual stuff, most she already knew about but there was one thing of note, the mention of a group called Angrboða. Lorelai added it to her list of things to research about before leaving to call her contact at the local police department.

Every time she'd take a gang like this down, Lorelai would leave an "anonymous" tip with the detective she picked out, often making their career in the process. She really had been doing this since the 70s, with those in the known believing she was a secret insider group known as Rune, it was quite amusing. So again, for like the six-hundredth time Lorelai watched from a nearby rooftop as Swat swarmed the place, arresting all the criminals who were just waking up. She'd of course leave before anyone saw her, not that it mattered too much, as Lorelai was usually standing too far away for any human to see her.

"Oh cool, anything interesting on Sunday? It was raining, after all, probably the last rain of the season before we started to get snow instead, eh?" Lucy said giving her friend a big smile. Lorelai said she just stayed inside, doing her homework, while taking the time to remind Lucy that they had a Science Quiz tomorrow and that she didn't study. At that point, Lucy shouted "aww crap" in such an unenthusiastic and grumpy way it made Lorelai nearly burst out laughing. "Well, I hope everyone is having a better week than us, cause my mom's going to kill me when I fail", Lucy said, slamming her face down onto her friend, groaning and whining the rest of the way to school. Lorelai gently placed her hand on Lucy's head, informing her friend that they arrived at school, while also promising to help her study during lunch. This earned a loud "thank you" and a hug from Ms.Ghent, something Lorelai always loved receiving, as Lucy was the only human she really cared about.

It was late and it was raining as a man tried to shake the need for sleep by rubbing his eyes and a sip of joe from a mug with his Stationhouse on it. He went through file after file, of all the major players of the Sons Of Blood he helped arrest yesterday after his tip from Rune. He noticed something, pulling a photograph Surveillance taken a week ago, and comparing it to another from a case in another city. He knew he had seen this face before, so he rummaged through box after box, file after file until he found what he was looking for. He pulled out the photo, the hair was a little different but the face seemed to match, the only thing was, this other picture was from over 20 years ago. So how could someone look the same after all these years?
