Zubair Met Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf

The next day, Hajjaj called Muhammad and told him the good news that the Caliph of the Muslims had arrived from Damascus. He has written that you should be sent to Damascus immediately.

Muhammad said, "I am ready to go, but the big dignitaries of the Caliphate will see me and think that I have been treated badly because of you."

Hajjaj replied. Precious stones are recognized not by their thickness but by their luster. I have only sought a suitable environment for the development of your natural abilities. For this reason, in the Court of the Caliphate you will act as a member of the Majlis Shura of the State of the Estates of Harb and if you impress your companions and the Caliph as I did. If you can, be sure that no one will complain about your young age.

Muhammad said,

But I wonder what the Majlis Shura does in Damascus!

The Caliph has entrusted all the responsibility of war affairs to you.

The envoys of the generals come directly to you, all the orders of movement go from you." This is because the Majlis Shura lacks active and alert brain members like you and they burden me with a lot has been put on.

Now, if you go there, at least the smell of monitoring the African front will be removed from my head. They calls me for advice every second or third month on the slightest change in the conditions in Africa. Perhaps, seeing your abilities, I will not feel the need to call them so often and I can devote more attention to the Turkestan front.Muhammad asked, when should I go?

"I think you should leave tomorrow. I will arrange for your mother and Zubaydah to be sent to Damascus for a few days. "Muhammad was about to leave when slave came in and informed Hajjaj that a young man wanted permission to be present. He would say I have brought very important news from Sarandeep. Hajjaj said,

"Call him and stay with Muhammad! My heart bears witness that no good news has come from Sarandeep."

Shortly after slave left, Zubair entered. His clothes were covered with dust and her beautiful face showed signs of sadness and weariness. Hajjaj recognized him as soon as he saw him and said,

Zubair, you have come.

Your ship... Zubair replied I am sorry that I did not come to you with good news. The governor of Dabil on the coast of Sindh has robbed our ship. The other ship on which the King ( Raja )of Sarandeep sent presents for you and the Caliph has also been plundered, and the Muslim orphans whom I went to fetch have been taken prisoner?

Hajjaj said,

"How did you get here?"

Tell me all the events.

Zubair narrated the entire incident from beginning to end. The flames of anger started burning in the eyes of Hajjaj.

He started pacing the room, clenching his fists and biting his lip. After a while he stopped near a wall and started looking at the map of India and a sound similar to the roar of a wounded lion came out of his mouth. This courage of the king of Sindh?

Goats also started showing horns to lions. Perhaps he has also come to know that our forces are pinned down in the north and west.

After saying this he turned towards Hajjaj Zubair, "You have not told this news to anyone in Basra yet."

Zubair replied,

"No!"

"I have come directly to you,"Hajjaj says, "there cannot be a declaration of war against us in more clear terms than this from Sindh, but you know that at this time our compulsions do not allow us to advance to a new front."

I want this sad news not to reach the people, they may not be ready to go for Jihad themselves but they will not fail to curse me. Zubair said: You mean that you will bear all this silently.

Hajjaj replied that there is no other option for me except silence. I write to the Governor of Makran to go to the King (Raja) of Sindh himself. He may be willing to atone for his mistake and hand over the Muslim children to him.

Zubair said, I can assure you that they will not be willing to admit their mistake. You sent the Governor of Makran there even after the disappearance of Abul Hasan's ship, but he expressed his ignorance and I believe. It is said that Abul Hasan's ship was also looted and he and some of his companions are still in prison. I myself have met Makran's agent, he used to say this.

They were told that the King ( Raja )and his officials had treated them very humiliatingly in the previous meeting.

Therefore, he himself does not like to go to him again, but without consulting you, he has sent a delegation to the governor of Dabil under the leadership of Ubaidullah, the chief commander of Makran, from what I have seen I guess. It is said that the King (Raja) of Dabil is extremely ruthless and obstinate and Ubaidullah is also quite, it is possible that they will be treated the same way as we have been treated and they will be aware of any danger before meeting the King ( Raja). Be a victim.

Hajjaj said. I will wait for Ubaidullah's return. And if he also did not bring good news?

I can't say anything. Sindh is a vast country and we need a long preparation before marching there. It is also possible that Amer-ul Momineen,

Do not allow us to march on Indus before the conquest of Turkestan, Africa, and then perhaps Andalus.

Muhammad was listening to these things in silence till now.

He was impressed by Zubair's disappointed eyes and said. I take it upon myself to consent to the Caliph

If you allow, I will leave for Damascus today instead of tomorrow.

Hajjaj replied, "Blessed!" By giving such advice to the Khalifa as soon as you leave, you will not show your military skills well. Your honor and bravery do not speak for themselves, but the enemy's forts are not conquered by empty strategies. Many soldiers will be needed for this campaign and Iraq, Arab And we don't have many forces in any position in Syria.

Muhammad bin Qasim replied, I am not disappointed with the honor of the Muslims. Such news may also affect those whose comfortable life has deprived them of the spirit of jihad. You may be disappointed with people of your age but I am not disappointed with the youth.

Those young people who do not like to go to Turkestan and Africa to fight because of differences with you and the Khalifa. Muslims will surely be affected by hearing the story of the atrocities of the King of Sindh on children. There are thousands of young people whose pride has not yet been destroyed, those Muslims whom you are disappointed with.

But they are not dead, they are sleeping and the cries of the nation's orphans will surely prove important to them. Hajjaj fell into deep thought.

Seeing the opportunity, Zubair took out a white handkerchief with Naheed's writing on it from his pocket, presented it to him and said. This letter to you was written by the girl of Abul Hasan with her own blood and she told me that if the blood of Hajjaj has frozen, then I should present this letter, otherwise there is no need for it.

Hajjaj read a few lines of the writing written in blood on the handkerchief and trembled and the flames of his eyes started turning into water. He gave the handkerchief to Muhammad and went to the wall and started looking at the map of India. Muhammad ibn al-Qasim read this letter from the beginning to the end.
