Toying with ones opponent?

Jake slowly ascended onto the platform. He was confident in his capabilities.

He looked around. He scanned through numerous faces. They were all here. Wang Ben, Knuckles, Marcus His eyes later stopped on the infantry unit cadet leader.

Arthur

Arthur had a big smile on his face.

"Please call forward your opponent," Arthur said in a rather calm tone.

Jake looked back at the crowd. He slowly scanned the crowd until he landed on his opponent.

"60," he said in a rather nonchalant tone. He felt like his opponent would definitely be weak.

The person didn't look surprised though he slowly made his way to the platform. He also had the most natural expression on his face.

"You may call me Artus," Jakes' opponent said.

"Jake," Jake replied calmly.

"You underestimate me ?" Artus replied.

The way Jake acted, it wouldn't be strange for him to come to that conclusion. Everyone saw it, including Wang Ben.

"Let's begin." Jake tried to change the subject.

"Well then let's see if I can take you down a few notches," Artus replied.

As soon as he said it, he took a fighting stance.

Jake looked at him stunned. This ordinary looking guy was quite arrogant. His face was deceiving though.

Jake also assumed a fighting stance. This stance was known by all in the firebird base.

In fact, it was more often than not referred to as an ordinary technique.

"fire-bird dance" jake started moving

For someone with a muscular build, he moved beautifully. He was approaching artus fast.

Artus didn't budge, though he maintained his stance.

"boom"

They collided but Artus didn't budge. He had a sly look on his face.

"You think you are so strong?" Artus said

"Take this."

A punch came flying towards Jake. He tried to block it but was a second late.

He was flung back a couple of steps.

"cough"

Jake now realized that this ordinary-looking guy was more than meets the eyes

He stood up and straightened his back.

The scene left the crowd a bit dumbfounded.

"You were the one who got pushed back. Why are you stretching?" they thought

On further inspection, one would notice his clenched fist. He hated being underestimated more than anything. You could only imagine how many times he had seen things like this showboating. He hated it.

"I did underestimate you. I apologize," Jake said.

Jake added in a calm voice, "but you are still going to lose." It was so natural, as if it was natural for him to lose.

"fire-bird dance" Jake activated the technique once more, but this time it felt different.

He was fast, really fast.

As soon as Artus noticed his increased speed, he made his move.

He jumped back and took a guarding stance.

Jake didn't hit him directly, though he was trying to get an opening so he could strike. He was moving incredibly fast.

Artus knew this, so he kept his guard firm while he thought to himself.

"How is he so fast?"

He recognized the fire-bird dance. The fire-bird dance was a very common technique in the base and no one really paid attention to it other than those who had no background.

"If I had known that it could become this powerful, I would have practiced more." Artus was now sweating. He was trying hard to keep up with Jake's speed.

"damn"

The sweat had dripped into his eyes, and he involuntarily closed them.

Jake saw that opportunity and attacked with full force.

"boom" this time artus was blown back a few meters

"arg"

He landed on the ground and quickly got to his feet.

But

Before he could locate Jake

"boom"

"Damn I have to do something," Artus thought.

He was panicking at this point.

"Damn fiery palm!" Artus screamed.

He attacked Jake head on.

Jake saw the palm coming his way and instantly felt its power it was dangerous

But he didn't feel fear, so he responded in kind.

"raging fist rapid 2"

"boom"

Artus and Jake were both knocked back a few steps. They both looked at each other in disbelief.

Jake wondered how Artus could stop that level of raging fist.

If Artus had known what Jake was thinking, he would have gone crazy. The fiery fist was a secret skill he learned from his father.

Actually, the fiery fist could have become much stronger if he wasn't so lazy.

Jake stood up and was ready to continue fighting. He still hadn't used his raging fist to the peak of rapid 2 yet, so he still had a trump card

Artus also stood up.

He was going to try again.

But then

"boom"

Artus fell to the floor. He was done for.

He was exhausted.

Jake stared at him dumbfoundedly.

"What the hell, why did you even bother standing up if you were already at your limits?" he thought.

"ha-ha"

"Good fight," Arthur commented from the side. He looked at Jake with a knowing smile.

He then made a quick gesture so someone would come to pick up Artus off the floor.

"Jake wins"

Jake looked at Arthur and then at the old man sitting behind him.

He bowed in the direction of Wang Ben first, as a show of respect and to show who trained him.

He then bowed to the old man because of seniority, and lastly he bowed to Arthur.

Then he turned around and walked off.

He walked down and Artus was carried down. That was the difference between them.

"Number 21" Arthur called for the next candidate as soon as Jake stepped down.

"Joey, it's your turn." Jack smacked him on the back of his head.

Even at this time, Joey was still sleepy.

Joey said and nodded.

He started making his way to the platform. He looked, well, how can I say it, drunk. He looked drunk, but he also had bags under his eyes.

When he got onto the stage, he smiled and stared blankly at the crowd.

There was a moment of awkward silence.

"Call your opponent," Arthur said while shaking his head. He knew the person that trained Joey. He knew his character, so he wasn't surprised by Joey's sleepiness.

"Oh..... ummm number 1?" Joey said

The whole crowd looked stunned.

"number 1? Wasn't that Wilder's number? This sleepy guy got wild as an opponent? What bad luck "; these were the words going through the minds of everyone in the crowd.

In fact, his battle, albeit being the first fight, was stunning. He was a born fighter.

But this guy looked like he hadn't had a day of sleep since he was born. What could he hope to achieve in a battle against wilder

Wilder didn't think too much about it though, as he calmly walked onto the stage.

and stared at Joey.

"Wilder" Wilder introduced himself once more. He was rather fond of doing so before any fight.

But

He was met with absolute silence.

Joey was just staring at him calmly.

The whole crowd went wild with murmurs.

Did this guy have a death wish? He was doing the same thing the youth with no shoes did to Wilder. This would definitely piss Wilder off the more. "They thought

That was what was going through their minds.

In the crowd, though, Frank, Jack, and Jake were currently standing with their faces in their palms.

"Joey was sleeping." They all knew it and soon the whole crowd would too.

Not long later,

"snorrrrr"

The crowd heard snoring noises from Joey and they were shocked once again

"He was sleeping with his eyes open?" they thought

Wilder also frowned.

"What is wrong with this guy?" he thought.

"Can he participate like this senior?" Wilder asked Arthur.

The whole crowd seemed to agree that this guy was in no condition to fight, especially with someone like Wilder.

"What is your name?" Arthur asked Joey with a loud voice.

"Huh?... Joey," Joey replied after a brief pause.

"Are you in any condition to fight?" Arthur asked.

"Oh yes, yes the fight, let's fight," he finally recalled the fight.

"You heard the man," Arthur replied. Of course, he knew that Joey would fight no matter what.

"If that's the case, don't blame me for not holding back," Wilder explained.

"This should be over quick," they thought.

Wilder dashed toward the sleepy joey.

"Take this."

A kick came flying the way of joey

The kick had a lot of power poured into it.

But it missed its mark

Joey simply tilted his body sideways and dodged

"Hmm" Wilder had a look of surprise flash through his eyes, but not for very long, though he immediately responded with another flying kick.

But Joey simply dodged with the slightest movement.

Soon a barrage of kicks and punches was sent the way of Joey and he blocked every single one of them. He was like a leaf being blown by the wind.

But that wasn't the most annoying part. The most annoying part was that he was doing this all with his eyes closed.
