Chapter 6: Merlin's true feelings

The bewildered trio just stood there in amazement that they didn't notice Rei on the floor

"Rei!" Shin shouted at the top of his voice bringing back Merlin and Melinda while hurriedly dashed towards him.

Merlin immediately picked him up dropping him on his laps

"Ahh gramps it's like I too careless, I forgot that I've not perfected it" Rei squeezed out the words from his lungs

"I know you've tried just take it easy now and rest " Merlin calmly told him making him to sleep off immediately

"That was one dangerous move was it even a magic or just a normal combat technique" Melinda still shocked on what just happened right now

"Well it's no surprise as somebody who has absorbed in all Michel teachings on body movements and our teachings on magic he was supposed to be like this" Merlin stood up carrying Rei towards the house.

"Um will Rei be alright" Shin asked with a teary eyes looking at his big brother

"Don't worry about that for he will be alright" Melinda tried to console him while shuffling his hair

" Let's head back home for now"

At home Rei woke up to see Shin who've already dozed off beside him

"Such caring brother I have" he shuffled his hair

"But what happened to me..." a gush of memory flooded into his head

"So that was magic exhaustion gramps was talking about I guess I was too careless" Creak the sound of a door opener was heard

"Hmm?"

"Oi Rei your awake"

"Oh? Grandma"

"You made us worried sick" she draws close to him sitting on the same sofa

"what was that you pulled out there"

"it was something i was practicing for a long time now"

Melinda trying to remember the training

"Was it that magic regeneration you always talked about?"

"Yes but in a better and much larger scale"

"Huh? what do you mean by that"

Creak, again the door opened but this time it was Merlin who entered, and the door sound made Shin who was fast asleep to wake up

"Rei your awake "

"Yup"

"Rei nii-san are you hurt " Shin asked sitting upright

"No shin, just tired nothing else" he reassured him pating his head gently

"So back to my discussion, as you guys draw majority your strength from magical energy, I draw mine from natural energy that us why the attack us far more deadly and it is like a double edge sword, it is a deadly weapon against your opponent and also a deadly weapon against you. Ti use it you need a strong body and that's why I still experience some side effects afterwards. My body isn't yet matured enough to pull off those stunts but I'm still in progress" he then takes a pause to check if there were catching up

"I'm sure that this will bring us close to a new power if we all could learn..."

"That's enough!!!" interrupts him furiously

"Rei you are just still a child of eight years how can you be this obsessed with power Rei, for once think about your social life , everything is not all about strength, at this young age you took down a catastrophe class beast without even breaking a sweat, what other power do you now seek"

Rei just sat down bewildered, words trying to come out but his mouth wasn't opening, at that moment he remembered his past life

'Yeah his right I'm too obsessed with strength and that was why I couldn't find a worthy opponent, but strength defines a man's will, its because I was weak that my family had to die my father, my mother, my brother, my wife, my child even I myself died because of that weakness'

"And it's about time I tell you guys" Merlin then looks at Melinda for approval, she followed by replying with a nod

"Rei and shin we are not your true grandparents, we are not even related by blood. It was on that day, in the day off an accident I found both of you under the protection if your mother in the midst of dead bodies it was so cruel and I thought if I was your true father will I allow you to die a meaningless death, then I decided to adopt you guys and train both of you." he looks at Rei in the eyes

"But that doesn't mean I don't want you guys to be strong, I just want you guys to have a happy life, marry beautiful ladies and give birth to beautiful children and not to be obsessed with power like some freak"

Shin holds Rei in the shoulder looking at him straight into he eyes

"Rei gramps is right, as for now we are already strong so we should take it easy for now"

"ok shin, gramps take you for what you said and finally, grandpa grandma"

THUD!

"THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING US AS YOUR GRANDKIDS"

Both of them fell on the floor bowing their heads in appreciation

Merlin and Melinda were over filled with joy began to shed tears of joy

"Oh stop that you dump kids" Melinda protested
