Chapter 5: RAIN

Rainy days, the sweet smell of the soil, the gentle yet cold wind, the peaceful sound of rain drops smashing the ground, just puts me in a mood to think. I've always loved the rain, and I never 'love' anything this much. I was asleep till I heard rain drops. Then I left the dorm and sat ontop of the tallest building I could spot. The rain makes me ask a myself "what?" "what am I?" "What's the point of anything?" "What is the truth?" "Why am I? Why do I?" "is anything even real?" "what does real even mean?" and even with top tier brain cells, my answer is always "I don't know". I never get tired of watching the rain, especially at night, normally it makes sleep better but this time I want to watch it and be under it! I just sat on top of the building for hours, thinking and feeling. Then I heard someone's voice and wondered who would be awake at 3 AM in the morning. It was a female voice, the I realized I was above one of the female dorms. She said "Aren't you worried about catching a cold?" I wondered how she could even say that to me, I'm pretty sure I can get sick. I asked her "what about you?" and she said she had heat & fire related abilities. Then she joined me on the roof and sat down. She said "you like the rain too huh?" and I was like yea, I love the rain. She wondered how long I had been there and why so early in the morning and I just smirked. She checked my card and said "Harper, that's a nice name... so you're that guy from the battle yesterday! I'm Tani Candela, or just Tani". She was quite decent, I actually looked inside her head, so much innocence, such fighting spirit, so much belief, so calm, kind of like the rain even if she's technically an opposite. Then I asked her, "Tani, do you ever wonder what we are? Or what anything is? What is the truth? And she said, "I think life is whatever you want it to be, there might not be any special truth to it, it might just be a figment of our imaginations, we are meant to live life, and I think if you spend your entire life chasing a truth, you just might waste your life but as they say, there's always light at the end of the tunnel". I smirked, and made the rainfall heavier. She might have just taught me something there and that's not something that happens everyday, ginger colored hair, a pretty cute face, 5'7 and medium sized valuables, I should keep her around. I put my hand on her head and said "we should talk again sometime" I saw the sleep in her eyes so I took her to her room and went back to mine. I decided to actually get some sleep, because of the rain, this island has a lot of secrets, I just want to enjoy it till I'm ready.

9AM in the morning, Rana came looking for me, she took me to one of the training facilities and begged me to fight her again. I told her she was no where near ready, she wouldn't stop bugging me so I flicked her forehead, she landed on top of the lead punching bags. I told her to put speed before strength, and gave her 20 hyper-powered death bots to train against. I went out side of the facility and saw Tani sparing with someone in another training facility. I sat and watched, she burned him and he submitted. As soon as she noticed me she walked up to me and asked me what I thought about her skills. I smirked and said "well... not bad I guess..." and she said "wow, she's never heard such a bland reply concerning her skills, given the fact that I rank P as a mancer". Then she said she was curious about my own skills and asked me to spar with her and I replied (laughing) "not today". She told me it wouldn't take long and that it was going to be a short sparing match. I said fine then, she told me to feel free to wear fireproof armor or something but I declined. We started the sparing match, and she didn't start slow at all, fire balls were coming nonstop, she was trying to burn my hair off, I kept on dodging and she teleported behind me and hit me with flaming fists, turns out she had enhanced strength too. She told me I couldn't dodge forever as she kept charging, I waited exactly one minute before attacking, I gave her a kick to the gut and chopped her down to the ground and she stayed down till I picked her up. The shock in her eyes told the whole story as she asked "how???" and I said "look who's asking questions now" whilst laughing. She was finally able to sit and talk and she said she had never been beaten before and I said "we were just sparring, technically didn't count". She wondered how I was ranked as low as F. Tani clearly found me intriguing, from out of nowhere she tried to set my pants on fire, they didn't burn, she said she wondered why during the match. I told her they happened to be fireproof but I doubt she believed that. We talked, and talked, and talked, she wanted to know everything about me, she preferred to call me by my other name, Reguilon. She wanted to get stronger too, stronger than me (clearly impossible) would be fun to watch so I accepted her and then I thought "Why do I only get challenged by girls?" maybe it's because I never actually go around other males. Should be more fun to fight guys.

Whilst talking with Tani, it started raining, we were advised to go back to the dorm since it was already 5 PM, I carried Rana back to her dorm while Tani waited for me, only took about half a second. Tani was still recovering so I gave her a piggyback ride under the rain, I had no reason to rush, we just walked to the dorms under the cold, beautiful rain as she fell asleep.
