Chapter Six

July 31, 1580

After sleeping on the beach I longed for my cot on the Thisbe. Sleeping on the ship was rough, but I grew used to the crashing of the waves. The beach was lumpy, and hot.

I was the first one awake that morning. I washed off in the ocean, while I waited for the others to awaken. Not long after that the others come too, and we come up with a game plan.

No one was coming to look for us. We were on our own. So we had to take matters into our own hands.

We decided that the best course of action was to look for some sign of civilization on the island. In order to do that we’d have to make our way through the jungle to the other side of the island.

We took the little that we could carry and set off into the jungle.
