Chapter Fifteen

August 1, 1580

We made it our first full day of walking. It was grueling to say the least, the beating hot sun began to burn our skin to a crisp, bugs had bitten us to no avail, water and food were in short supply, and most of the crew still felt uneasy about leaving the beach.

Once night fell we set up a makeshift camp in a small clearing. As the rest of the crew slept I lied there staring up at the starry sky unable to sleep. Exhausted Weyln was unable to keep me company. The night seemed to last forever. The silence that I had normally found so peaceful was now deafening. I found myself getting up, and walking off into the night.

Not knowing where I was going, my feet moved on their own. Dragging me deeper and deeper into the jungle. I have no idea how long I walked, or exactly how I got there, but I ended up in a large pond similar to the one that I had found two days before.
