Chapter 10: Miranda or someone else?

KENDALL'S POV -

As soon as the words left my mouth, I simply gasped as I found Miranda standing inches away from Damon.

Eyes drilling deep into his soul.

Placing a hand on Damon's collar, she asked in an otherworldly voice, which couldn't have been her own," Did you do it?"

Damon was unnaturally strong. I could guarantee that. So, I was more worried about Miranda at the moment. But the scene I witnessed left me in a complete loss for words.

Damon shuddered, eyes fixed on the floor refusing to meet Miranda's eyes as he replied," I did not do this."

Teeth gritted together, Miranda pressed on," Then who did?".

Then what I witnessed left my knees shaking.

Miranda lifted Damon up by the collar leaving his feet dangling above the floor as she dangerously whispered," You will make her live no matter what.", before a strange golden light mixed with tinges of black completely burst out of her hurling me off my feet as I crashed into a wall behind me.

Then Miranda fell onto the floor losing conciousness.

Meanwhile, a thousand thoughts raced across my mind, faltering to make sense of what just happened until I finally pieced it together.

But before I could utter anything, I noticed Damon sinking to his knees as a single tear rolled down his cheeks and he whispered," Luce Mia, I am sorry."

I knew what I had to do now.

Hurriedly getting up on my feet, I rushed towards Miranda. Feeling her pulse, at a normal rate, I quickly used my werewolf strength to place her on her bed.

"I am going to get to her later.", I thought as I placed my hand on Damon's shoulder. He looked at me through his hair with red rimmed eyes.

"Stop her bleeding.", I sternly demanded gesturing towards Samarah.

Damon seemed to come out of a daze upon my words as he nodded bending his head towards the injury at her neck. I watched him tensely as he whispered," You remember that I am a vampire right and I can only close her wounds by using my saliva."

"Just get on with it.", I shot right back before he began to lick Samarah's neck tenderly to close the wounds. I visibly relaxed when he stopped soon after and said done.

"Thank God! Now we should quickly get her to the hospital. Looks like she lost a lot of blood and while your saliva can stop the flow of it definitely cannot replenish the blood she lost."

He replied with a flat," No, we can't go to the hospital." My eyebrows shot up in bewilderment at his response as he finally cleared,"She was attacked by another vampire and if we take her to the hospital, it will risk exposing our kind to the entire world." I squeaked in frustration saying,"Then what the fuck are we supposed to do? Just wait for some fairy godmother to magically heal her back."

" No. I will see to it that she gets well. Moreover, I would never disobey Luce Mia's command".

My confusion must have been written clearly across my face as he further explained," Don't tell me that you can't feel her presence and after today I think that it should be pretty clear."

Yeah there was no doubt about it after today's episode.

And sometimes I forget that he too is a guardian of Luce Mia; like me.

Damon's voice cut in abruptly breaking my thoughts," I have to replenish myself and prepare in case Samarah's health doesn't get better quick enough."

"Prepare?", I asked.

"Yeah, I will use my spiritual essence to heal her, in case she needs it." Oh yeah, he could do that too. Probably one of the many gifts he received as a guardian.

But using his spiritual essence makes him considerably weaker and he needs blood to aid in the recovery process. So, he was probably going to drink some blood now, I figured.

"Hmphh", I replied, as he left the room noiselessly.

Sitting alone watching over Samarah and Miranda sleep soon became quite boring and my mind wandered over to Damon.

We had first met as young kids, introduced to each other by our parents. We quickly became fond of each other and got together by the age of 13. But had decided to part ways at age 15 when the truth and of our destinies were revealed to both of us and the peace between werewolves and vampires had been ripped apart.

It was clear that both of our parents, the leaders of werewolves and vampires would want Luce Mia to be only on their side and not the latter's.

I couldn't say that I missed the relationship as it was short lived and we were too young to embrace each other's presence in a sensual way. But it did definitely hurt to lose my only best friend.

But I couldn't say the same for Damon as he hadn't even tried to reach me once all these years.

Although I had tried and miserably failed many times to reach him. Sometimes, due to my incompetent plans and most times as not a single soul was aware of his whereabouts.

Which for sure struck out as false, as he was the freaking guardian of Luce Mia and this alone would create a buzz wherever he went.

And then, as if on cue, Damon walked in, as Miranda's eyes shot open sending the familiar feeling of a jolt of electricity throughout my being.

She already appeared alarmed but after catching the sight of Damon, her eyes went wide as if they were going to pop out of their sockets.

Damn! I have got a lot of explaining to do to her.
