Chapter 23: Forbidden

MIRANDA 'S POV -

I had slept like a log yesterday night partially from exhaustion and partially after finding out about Ken's true intentions by taking a peek into his mind. Yet, I had woken up considerably earlier than Samarah.

Sitting on my bed, I tried to meditate to better control my powers. But I found myself getting distracted by Samarah's...moans... WTF!

I stilled hoping that she would stop. Instead, she got louder.

Ah...ahhh...auuchhh....

Oh hell no.

I couldn't stand being in the room any longer so, I got out. But even after staying at this mansion for almost two days I still didn't know my way around here. My skills of direction had never developed after my toddler stage it seemed.

Neither did I encounter any other living soul to ask for directions. Not even the servants. Damon had told me that they knew how to make themselves dissapear and do their work efficiently without coming in other's ways. I had seriously began to question if that dissapperaing line was a metaphor or a fact. They possibility that they were ghosts didn't seem as far - fetched as me being a Goddess.

So, I stood in the hallway, trying to figure out in which direction to go. The hallways seemed as deserted as always. Even the curious residents had stopped coming after the first day.

So, I tried to feel for some familiarity and my mind urged my feet to move in directions I wasn't aware I could go. After a series of twist and turns, I was met with a completely black wooden door.

Opening the door, I stepped inside watching a wide eyed Ken jump at my presence, clutching a paper in his hand. One look at his face and I could tell that I had probably stepped into something I wasn't supposed to know about.

But curiosity getting the better of me, I locked the door behind me and lunged for the paper figuring that he wouldn't be able to escape without giving me answers first.

The instant my fingers brushed the tip of the paper, Ken threw it into a nearby fireplace.

Rage burned through me at his actions.

The next second he shrieked, as unable to get ahold of the paper, my hands latched onto both sides of his face instead.

Holding him down, I bore into his eyes searching for answers. I only got the gist of the story as I was met with frantic words such as - Damon's better, few days more, prophecy, danger, keep secret.

I abruptly let go of him as I faced the last word, resulting him falling onto his back on the floor. He groaned before getting on his feet.

Shifting to his icy voice, he said," Don't stress on it Luce Mia. I will take care of everything. No harm will befall you."

I eyed him skeptically.

He was considerably less powerful than my guardians; let alone me. I had been informed that my guardians had already possessed more powers as well as unique gifts such as non other in their kin did.

Moreover, their powers had been increasing even more as the day of the prophecy closed in. Being a Goddess meant that I had more powers than any of them.

I had to enhance them; to get better control over them so, that I could be ready to face any danger thrown at my face.

I couldn't just go waiting hand - in - hand as others risked their lives for me.

With renewed determination, I turned to Ken and asked him whether he could teach me to better use my powers. He threw a startled glance at first but slowly bowed before saying," I will teach you all I know even though it wouldn't be as much as Damon. I will try my best.", he paused.

" And I will take all the help I can get.", I finished. Within a few hours, I had marched back to my room, informed a sleepy head Samarah that I would be with Ken, got ready, had breakfast and made a straight beeline to the familiar black doors.

Stepping in, I witnessed a well groomed Ken already waiting for me. "Let the games begin.", I announced shutting the door close.

Ken stood with his back towards the window. " Do you know what you are up against right now?", his voice boomed through the room.

Half a smirk, pounds of muscles and just a little bit of sass was what came to my mind.

Then the floor beneath me trembled as the room around me shifted. I stood frozen gawking at the amazing sight before me as the room morphed. Walls shifted backwards to reveal as much space as an indoor stadium, the ceilings rose evn higher and the fireplace just turned around to reveal books. I had expected to be met with weapons but ok.

" Do you know what you are up against?" , Ken's voice came from behind me m. Instinctually, I reached for him but caused a gash to his cheek. Within seconds he stood at least 20 feet away from me.

" That's the only lucky hit you will get. Now the real games begin." With that he shifted to his werewolf form and I stood gazing at the ethereal being before me. His fur was black with certain intricate silver patterns on parts of his face and paws. I noticed the gash which was on his cheeks moments ago was gone. I mentally noted that must have both vampire and werewolf genes to be able to heal so quick.

Then with a terrifying growl he leapt towards me and landed with a heavy thud on the ground as I stood 10 feet away from him.

I smirked before replying," Looks like you won't even manage a lucky hit." I swear I saw his wolf form smile at me a devilish grin. Then he got up again and looked at me as if I was prey.

Suddenly picking up pace he began to encircle me, breaking into a run soon after. I looked in bewilderment around me, trying to figure out from which side the next attack was going to be. Then I heard a sharp voice command me," Focus. Close your eyes and feel." I let out a huff at the stupid piece of advice. Obviously he would pounce at me the second I closed my eyes. " Just try it once. Remember you want help so take it when I am providing it."

I sneered a little before closing my eyes. Then energetically I felt a single presence of energy circling me rapidly. I just focused on its pace for sometime before lifting both my hands towards the left. With eyes still closed, I felt the energy slam into my hands and then I caught hold of it before slamming it on the ground. I saw Ken lying at my feet, now transformed back into his human form. He panted deep breaths before I bent at his side to help him sit up.

But with the palm of his hand he stopped me. This man is unbelievably egoistic! Then I heard the crunch of his bone before he stood up on his own.

My face paled knowing I had done that. Noticing my horrified expression he cooly said," No harm done. My spine is healed. But I honestly didn't think that the Goddess Of Light and Peace would be such an avid attacker. I expected you to be more on the denfense side. Good to know that training you wouldn only be half as boring as I had thought it would."

Amused I said," And that's why folks, never judge a book by it's cover." I turned away but he shot back instantly," We aren't done here delicate fairy."

Now, I was almost happy that I had broken his spine." The only thing I am delicate to here is your nakedness. So save me from going blind and cover up."

I imagined the annoying smirk fall of his face as I heard the ruffle of clothes. He coughed before speaking again," D....Do...Done. Now, we will start the meditation."

I smiled cheekily enjoying his flustered state of mind. Perhaps my last smile for this would be the part of the lesson where I fell asleep.

KENDALL'S POV -

It had been hours since I had been to Miranda's. God! WTF was she even doing with Ken for so long.

My entire being ached to see him. But I knew better as one look from him would be enough to make me...

I just had to hold on a little longer. I didn't know how but I had to. I would never violate him.

The soft way with which he looked at me, the firece way with which he had held me a few days back, the tenderness with which he fed me the soup before both of us leaned in towards each other; closing the space between us before she came.

Damn Miranda!

But the logical part of my brain thanked her as it knew that had our lips tastes each other I would have craved for much more than just a taste right now.

I tried to restrain such thoughts to myself as sweat broke out on my skin. But instead, my mind relieved even more intimate moments as it flashed back to the memory of his body crashing into mine while I clutched his hand with my own. Then a slight blush crawled my cheek by the caress of his finger before he held back and rushed out of the room.

Something about that particular touch seemed irresistible to me. As if it were a forbidden fruit waiting to be relished. It never failed to turn me on even though I couldn't figure out the exact reason why.

I felt the sweat from my skin dampen the sheets around me before kicking it off the bed. I didn't know how much more time I would be able to hold myself back.
