Chapter 43: Is it the end?

DAMON 'S POV -

I heard frantic knocks on my door. I winced trying to get up in the dark. My back hurt from the driving.

On finally answering the door, I found Miranda behind it. She tried her best to push out the words but her lungs didn't support her. She managed to get out three words after heaving for someone," Get everyone...Samarah's in...." , I didn't wait to hear the rest of it as I broke out in a sprint to get Ken and Kendall, dragging the already out of breath Miranda behind me.

I tried to mentally connect with Samarah and barely managed to let out,' Hold on love... I am coming."

I could feel she was barely there.

I knocked at the ornately carved door while Miranda knocked the opposite door. I grabbed Kendall and barked at her," Samarah's in danger. We got to go." Ken followed closely behind.

Miranda lead us to the living room and informed that she had heard the voice from under the floorboards. Kendall took a sharp turn towards right and ordered," Follow me. She must be in the torture cells."

I gasped at that. My love...in a torture cell. My claws sprung out.

KENDALL 'S POV -

The huge wooden doors were clearly locked and all I could hear was the sound of cracking whip in the silent night. The absence of guards and servants in the mansion had proved that all of this was preplanned.

But who had planned it?

I broke the door open with a kick, sending someone flying across the room who must have been standing on the other side of the room. Pieces of splinters flew across the room.

I just hope that the person wasn't Samarah.

My jaw hung open at a sight worse than a nightmare before me.

Samarah lay dangling in chains, from her feet and wrists while a man lay at the end of the room with a whip in hand and at a distance a familiar female figure stood with her back towards me. I prayed that I was imagining all this.

The figure turned to face us, revealing the evil grin plastered on my mother's face. I froze in my spot as my legs threatened to give out any minute.

"Why?", I felt the strained voice leave my lips and my eyes burning with tears. With hatered. The woman before me appeared alien, even though I had known her all my life.

Icily, she remarked," She failed in he task to kill you. Obviously, unlike you she couldn't fullfill her task. She has always been the less achieving daughter of mine. I decided to teach her how to be an obedient daughter like you." I felt my legs stumble back and the strong hands of Ken grip my waist protectively.

I heard Damon's dark voice bellow," Daughter? And yours? You have either completely lost your mind or this is some really sick game." I saw Miranda slip out and slowly tip toe over to Samarah, hair pin in mouth. Ok, we have got to keep her talking a while longer.

Pushing through my nauseating feeling, I still egged on," How come you kept her hidden for all these years? Why did you even do all this? You had everything, good family, good pack and life. You had EVERYTHING!!!!!!"

" So many questions all at once. I will try to answer them all until my patience lasts doll.", I almost hurled when she calle me that. " I had my ways to raise her in secrecy. Being the only pack leader gives one too much power. And I agree, I really ahd everything I ever wanted. Moreover, after you father died, no one was there to stop me. It was then that I met Samarah's father and got pregnant. She was a half blood so she was going to be killed anyways until I came across the prophecies which threatened my rule and I devised this masterplan."

My blood boiled at this.

She turned around and landed a resounding slap on Miranda who had managed to unshackle Samarah's legs. Miranda landed on the floor and my abominable mother sneered," Is this really the God of the prophecies, that is destined to protect/ destroy? This sorry excuse can't even protect her ownself let alone anyone else. Look at her lying on the ground, all powerless. Such a shame."

At that the ground began to tremble while I felt the air change. Footsteps surrounded us, as a cloaked figure slowly approached through the door. His eyes burned red as he spit," Leave my daughter alone, Harper."

My breath quickened as I felt a wave of shock run across the room at the undead king's statement. Even my mother's face flashed of momentary panic as she saw enraged face before her. Slowly, pacing to the side, she hissed," Fine, take her then. She has become useless to me anyway. But I won't spare....", with that she lunged at Miranda as the room got enveloped in darkness due to the cracking of the only light bulb in the cell to pieces. But the darkness enveloping us wasn't only due to the light source being gone, it was heavy....different.

My thoughts were proved right when even Damon failed to maneuver in it even though vampires didn't have much problem navigating in the dark. The vampire king charged forward (hopefully) striking my mother.

" What did you do Harper? Quit your tricks now and I might make your death less painful." An ear deafening screech of my mother bellowed," Shit! It has started. The medicine has worn off. Everything is just as he predicted."

Suddenly, I saw a glimmer of light floating about in mid air. I failed to make out its source. But another appeared right next to it. I gasped sharply as I looked at what appeared to be massive eyes in front of me. The wind in the room picked up pace and I struggled to keep myself rooted and I guessed the same happened with others as the grabbed whatever they could to steady themselves.

Soon, an army of vampire guards marched into the room but as soon as I had reached the glowing pair of eyes, screams broke out from them and I heard each of them fall to the floor with heavy thuds.

The pair of eyes glowed brighter and inched down to us, filling a sense of dread in the room. Suddenly, I saw my mother levitate in the air and directly stare into the two deep charcoal embers. The she screamed and screamed like a banshee till she was flung at the floor.

The darkness inched closer. Headed for me. I shut my eyes bracing for whatever lay ahead. " Don't. Samarah, honey stop. Your father begs you.", the darkness stilled and the glowing eyes turned to my right, facing the undead king. It lay still for a few seconds before a furious earth shattering roar broke out and dangerously closed a huge gap between itself and the vampire king.

I heard the shattering of glass as a figure entered and came in between the shadow and the king, softly speaking," Rose....stop. It's our dad.", his voice seemed to hypnotise the creature as it stopped dead in its tracks and the orbs of light went on and of...as if the thing was blinking. The mysterious voice lulled the darkness," It's me Rose. You remember me, right?" At once the darkness ebbed away slowly, revealing Samarah in its place, lying on the cold floor. Damon rushed to her alongwith the king, both falling to their knees at her side, while Ken and mysterious life saver rushed to Miranda.

With the little strength left, I slowly staggered towards my mother and spluttered out," Why, mom, why?" , I felt my eyes water up as my mother lay huddled on the floor, broken, eyes clouded and distant as blood ooozed out of her mouth," It started doll. The prophecy has started. This is the begining of the end. She is the darkness after the light. She is the end of L...l..lllu" , with that her head went limp and I choked on my own sobs.
