Chapter 1: It's dark

SAMARAH 'S POV -

I saw darkness swirl around me in the form of heavy mist. I didn't have the strength to fight it this time. I felt exhausted so I allowed it to enter me this. To become me just this once.

After all this was just a dream like all the other ones had been. Perhaps I was just hallucinating. I couldn't seem to tell which was which. Whether all of this was an illusion or reality.

All I saw was the disgrace of a mother in front of my eyes flinging Miranda as if she were a ragdoll. Something in me snapped and I beckoned the dark to me. To use it, as it wanted me to.

Misty dark tendrils swept around me and soon coursed through my veins as I embraced them instead of fighting them back.

The next moment I became aware that I was nothing more than a mere spectator now. All my actions seemed to be dictated by something that wasn't me. I was just a mere puppet.

I concentrated my vengeful energy on Harper and just like that, she was lifted off the floor. I held her stare and showed her the souls which commited treason and how she would have to follow suit in hell in a few minutes. She yelled nonstop seeing the disastrous fate that awaited her which consisted of foulish looking incomplete zombies, usually with one or the other bodypart missing. Recieving punishments for their wrongdoings.

Until a familiar voice pierced my consciousness. I faced the vampire king before me. I remained transfixed at him until I heard another voice reverberate around me. Then a small amount of relief until...

My head started to throb from within and I thought I would loose all rationality and go crazy when the familiar soothing voice echoed," It's ok. Let go now. You are safe "

With a last push of all the energy I had left within me, I gave a hard push to the dark force in me thus compelling it to retreat to the abyss from which it arose.

Releasing the last bit of energy, I fell into a much needed slumber.

MIRANDA 'S POV -

I floated towards the darkness. For the first time in ages I dared to venture towards the darkness. It's snake like charm had always captivated me. But this time I would have gone to it even if it had showed nothing but its true ugly rear end to me. I saw Samarah dangling at the mercy of a creature .

The term 'Goddess' seemed nothing more than an honorary to me. It never provided me with any power to stop my loved ones from getting hurt. Rather it acted as a noose around my neck by placing unrealistically high expectations on me.

I heard all the chaos and commotion around me but I couldn't even peel my eyes open let alone lift a finger to stop the enemy. I heard a voice laced with thorns mock me and that's when I knew I was done being weak.

Thus, for the very first time I went searching for the dark abyss instead of letting it seek me out. I called out to it in my mind and sure it came with its tail wagging. It swirled around me hungrily, ready to claim me for itself. But it waited for me to submit, to give up on my will. Since this way I would forever be a part of it.

I reached out my hand and pulled it in me.

KENDALL 'S POV -

After watching the life ebb away from my mother's eyes, I sunk down on my knees. I froze and just sat staring between my two unconscious friends and the woman who claimed to have wanted me dead after raising me my whole life.

I saw everything move in slow motion. Ken held me by the shoulders and talked with his angelic words but I couldn't make any sense of what he said.

Just then a sense of sudden peace spread throughout the room and somebody caressed my hair softy. I looked up to discover that the hand on my head belonged to the vampire king.

Instantly, I was thrust to memories of my childhood where he would comfort me similarly after a fight with Damon. His soothing pheromones always relaxed me enough to get ahold of my feelings.

I saw Ken relax as well as the king's pheromones settled down everyone in the room.

I saw Damon with Samarah on his laps ; holding onto her for dear life. I saw Miranda lie as still as the undead. But something unsettling marred her expression by a microproportion. The vampire king reached towards Samarah but another hand beat him to it as it cupped her cheeks and exclaimed," Sis....." , the voice never got to completed its sentence as the owner of the voice landed his eyes on Miranda and his eyes opened wide.

I found this very unsettling and wanted to protest but my voice came out gravely.

"Who are you?", Damon said before I got snatched up in an abyss of the unknown.
