Chapter Two: Story From The Past part I

" happy birthday!!!" the scene was .... interesting a young girl about seventeen years of age stood among the floating confetti and magic dust ( these are the remnant particles from a weak spell ) smiling brightly as she accepted wish after wish, her dark red hair was decorated with even darker flowers and her light gray eyes were curved in a happy smile .

"thank you so much father " she chirped sounding super excited her father was rarely ever there he was always too busy working even now he looked pressed time the man looked at his daughters large gray eyes and smiled . " don't you want to open the parcel?" glancing at the wrapped up present in her hands

"alright father , father don't worry you can leave I can take care of myself you don't have to stress yourself like this , just you being here made my day"

"I am a horrible father aren't I , I can't even spend your birthday with you .... that book why don't you use it to pass time I'll be back before midnight bye love"

As the man ran out the door in a hurry Evelyn could still hear his pager beeping, what could she do he picked the career himself with a sigh she opened the wrapped gift...it was an old book with the crest of some unknown family maybe royalty she knew this book her father always put it on the mantle piece always guarded with a spell he said it was from her mother, her memories of the woman that sired her were very few even non-existent this was the only thing her mother left for her with yet another sigh she opened the book it was plain all the pages every page just plain old paper perplexed she tried again and again until finally giving up, what was she even expecting as she was about to leave her finger got cut by one of the pages of the old book and a drop of blood landed on the page.

"well that's new .... someone that didn't use magic to open it .hah this race is dying slowly" said a voice it sounded flat and cold without emotion and it was hoarse as if the owner had not spoken for a long time" what's your name little one " the voice seemed to come from the book.
