Trouble

The next morning, I meet Li Jie and his men downstairs. The men twice my size still give me wary looks, but I ignore them as I get ready to leave. The faster we leave this city, the better. I don't want to run into the weirdo again.

No matter how good a guy looks, if he's off his rocker... it isn't worth anything! I follow them on my horse as we head to the Fang family residence. On the way, I try to find the right time to leave once this is all over.

When we arrive at the large residence, Li Jie and his men dismount and head to the entrance. Li Jie suddenly stops and looks back at me. I raise a dark eyebrow and smirk before sliding off the horse and walking over.

As I step up to him, he clears his throat and says, "I think it's best you come with me." I try to hide the smile as I nod and follow him in. He genuinely seems worried about my safety and doesn't want to leave me out here by myself.

As we step in, several servants rush forward as the male servant in front bows and ask, "How can I help you? May I ask why you are all here at the Fang residence?" Li Jie frowns a little before saying "I am the young Master of the Li residence. My father was here investigating the Fangs before we lost touch with him. I'm here to inquire about the situation and what happened."

Suddenly, a middle-aged man with a round stomach walks over with his arms behind his back and his head held high. He gives Li Jie a condescending look before saying, "Like father, like son. Your father was just as rude. He was indeed here but he left once he realized he made a mistake."

I frown at his words as he lifts his hand and waves us away while saying, "You're disturbing my peace. Leave." I arch my dark eyebrow again as Li Jie clenches his fists and says, "I know he never left here! I have reports and evidence. Where are you keeping my father?"

This time both my eyebrows shoot up. I didn't know that. The last I heard was that he was last seen around the Fang residence. The middle-aged man glowers at us and snaps "Leave now before I call the Chief of guards over here!"

I frown at that. Was that like the police or something? Suddenly, I'm hit with an unpleasant feeling. I slowly turn my head and look over to a path leading to the back of the residence. I turn and slowly start walking that way.

The middle-aged man was in the middle of yelling when he suddenly sees me heading towards the back. He panics and yells out "What are you doing!? You're trespassing! Leave!" I ignore the man as I continue walking. The middle-aged man then yells out "Guards!!"

I keep a steady, unbothered pace as Li Jie and his men quickly follow after me, pulling their swords and ready to fight. The guards from the residence quickly try to stop me. Li Jie runs up, preparing to stop the man when suddenly, the charging guard falls to his knees.

Every guard present drops to their knees with cries of surprise, unable to move. I silently use my power to hold them all down. Li Jie and the others pause with their swords drawn; confusion written all over their faces. I continue to walk over to the large building that looks like a stone shed.

Li Jie and the others look around before looking at me with surprise and slightly lowering their swords. Yes, this was the same chick who used her face to slide down a hill.

The older man stumbles over, yelling "Stop!" As I reach for the door. I use my magic to shatter the old, rusted chains and pull the door open. Ten children huddle together in fear, retreating to the furthest part of the dark shed.

Anger swells within me as I silently take in the scene. It doesn't take a genius to see what's happening here. I turn around to see the middle-aged man running over with a face full of anger. I place myself between him and the children as I say, "I see pedophiles are a thing here in this world as well."

The man stumbles to a stop. Fear, embarrassment, and rage twist up his chubby face as he yells "You seek death! Hold your tongue woman!" Li Jie and the others stand rooted to the ground, eyes wide in shock as I turn to them.

"So, my question to you now is... is this kind of behavior acceptable here?" I ask in a low dark voice. The anger and disgusts in my voice can be heard, causing the air around us to grow cold. The children behind me flinch in fear as Li Jie blinks in surprise. His brain struggles to keep up before quickly shaking his head 'no'. He suddenly turns to the man and says, "I think I now know why my father was investigating you. You sick bastard!"

The man lifts his hand, as he yells out in anger. I feel a strange power building as the man aims straight at me and unleashes it. Li Jie and the others were further away from me but as soon as he realizes what was happening, he yells out in panic and tries to run to me.

He was too slow. Heavy, old power crashes into me causing the whole stone shed to creak and sway but when the dust settles, I stand untouched as I brush my dress off. Li Jie and the others nearly fall over when they see me completely unharmed and unbothered.

The man's mouth drops open as he studders out "You... you aren't a Cultivator! How!?" I give him a blank stare as I take a step closer. Suddenly, a large number of official-looking guards come rushing into the courtyard with weapons drawn.

"What is the meaning of this!?" Yells out an old man with grey hair. The guards all make way for him as he quickly walks over with a stern look on his weathered face. I stand my ground and remain silent, watching. Wanting to see how this all plays out.

The middle-aged man from the Fang family snaps out of his daze and yells "Old man Ru! This group of misfits came barging into my residence and are now accusing me of horrendous crimes! I demand justice!"

My eyebrows shoot up to my hairline, impressed that he's trying to flip this and make himself out as a victim here. Li Jie quickly snorts out "Misfits!? I'm the young master of the Li Family and I'm here because of my father's disappearance while investigating your residence! How would you like to explain all of the children!?"
