Odd Guest

As I stare at him, I realize that I'm being unfair. We do have an odd guest at the moment so right now isn't the best time. I sigh and say, "I'm guessing it's not simple. I'll be here when you're ready to talk but... I won't wait forever. If you want this to work out, we need to have a talk."

His dark eyes watch me close, but he nods and says, "I understand. I won't keep you waiting for long." I give him a small smile as I release the bubble of privacy. As soon as it falls, the man says, "Now that is a trick I'd like to learn! Master, please teach me your ways!"

He rubs his hands together in eagerness as his eyes shine with excitement. Bolin growls out, "Who's your Master!? Leave, you insufferable idiot!" I roll my eyes and walk out of the estate, leaving those two to argue as I head out.

When I reach the woods leading up to the property, I look around for what I need. While those two are busy, I'll make the mirrors.

After an hour or so, I walk back to the front gates with a satisfied smile on my face. Now that the mirrors are in place, we won't be surprised when we have visitors. I didn't just place them in front though. I placed them all around the estate so if someone were to approach from behind or from the sides, we'll still see it coming. Plus, I've hidden them well, so others won't find them easily.

Especially Dade and his group. I wasn't too worried about Aiya though; I know her too well. As I walk back into the estate, I find the two still silently glaring at each other. As soon as they see me, the man sits up straighter and says, "Master! When can we start lessons?"

Bolin grips the bridge of his nose in annoyance as I look the man over and ask, "What is your name?" The man gives me a winning smile as he says, "Master, my name is Fei Yue. Does this mean you're willing to teach me? I'm extremely strong and a fast learner. Master won't be disappointed in a disciple like me."

My lip twitches as I say, "I'm not your Master. I just want to know what to call you. As you can see, we're both extremely busy people with a growing list of enemies. It would be wise to leave while you still can."

His lower lips sticks out as he deflates and says, "Nonsense, if my Master is in trouble, I'll protect her. I won't let anyone show my Master disrespect." The teacup in Bolin's hand shatters causing us to look at him.

He slowly brushes his hand off as he picks up a cloth and says, "First, she's not your anything. Second, if anything were to happen, I will protect her. You've outstayed your welcome Deity of the East. LEAVE."

Fei Yue smirks at Bolin and leans to the side in a lazy manner as he says, "So you know who I am, interesting. You know who I am, but I don't seem to know who you are. So, tell me Monster, who are you really and why are you holding back?"

They go back to silently glaring at each other, so I walk off and start placing mirrors all over the estate. When I come across Bolin's office, I hesitate. For some reason, I feel like I would be prying if I were to place one in there.

He's always meeting with Haun in there and talking about important things. Mago softly says, "If you place one in there, I can keep an eye on things and keep you updated about what he's doing. Who knows, maybe even protect him."

I smirk and walk past the door, walking away from the office as I say, "Wow, you must really want to spy on him. Your level of persuasion needs work though. I wouldn't appreciate it if someone spied on me like that, I won't do it to him."

Mago grumbles as he says, "I don't trust him! He has too many secrets and he clearly has an agenda!" I nod my head, placing another mirror as I say, "Yes, but who doesn't? He's never hurt me Mago, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt."

Mago scoffs and says, "Oh, like you did with Aiya?" As soon as he says it, he shuts up. I come to a stop with a pensive look on my face. I feel the moment he slips away, hiding in another mirror as far away as he can get. He knew the comment was too far, but he still didn't apologize for it.

Though his method was wrong, I understand that it's coming from a place of concern. But it still stung and pissed me off. Yes, I have trust issues and I'm emotionally stunted but that's exactly why I'm trying to be so understanding.

I don't want to project my past experiences onto Bolin unfairly but that didn't mean I wasn't insecure or scared. It just means that I know my shortcomings and I'm trying to face them head-on for the person I care about.

I clench my teeth as I turn around to walk back but as soon as I turn, I run into someone! I stumble back as a hand reaches out and grabs my arm, steadying me. Fei Yue blinks in surprise as he asks, "Master, are you okay?"

Bolin suddenly appears and pushes Fei Yue back with anger. Fei Yue releases my arm and quickly steps away with ease and says, "Calm down, I was only helping my Master. What are you so insecure about?"

Bolin's anger peaks as he snaps, "She's not your anything! What do you want to leave? I'll give you anything if you leave right this instant." Fei Yue smirks and says, "A shame really, all I want is for my Master to recognize this student and teach him her ways."

Bolin looks like he's about to explode as I lift my head and look up at the ceiling with exasperation. Before Bolin snaps and loses it, I look at Fei Yue and say, "look, I don't even know if you can learn Magic. It's not like Cultivation."

Fei Yue smirks as he says, "We won't know unless we try." We stare at each other for several seconds before I say, "Fine, I'll try to teach you, but I can't guarantee anything." Bolin rounds on me, his eyes wide with disbelief as he says, "You can't be serious! We can't trust him!"

I nod and say, "I never said I did. I just agreed to teach him, that's all." I turn back to Fei Yue and say, "Once I'm done teaching you everything I know, you have to leave whether you've learned it or not. Deal?"

Fei Yue's smile grows as his eyes sparkle with excitement saying, "You have a deal, my beautiful Master."
