Death's Call

The men all eagerly enter the woods, heading to the estate with excitement burning within their eyes. They knew the dragons weren't around and they only had three or four people max inside the estate. This was going to be child's play.

It almost felt as if they were using a fist to kill an ant but instead of feeling bad, they were excited. They would kill the monster, grab the goddess, and rescue the King. Their names would go down in history! The King will also give them rewards for saving him and the country.

They rub their hands together in greed as they all walk further into the woods. Suddenly, the man walking in the front steps on something and causes a large pillar of golden light to shoot up into the air.

They flinch, covering their eyes before all looking up with their mouths open. What the hell was that!? They all wait, holding their breaths as they wait for something to happen, but other than it getting a little darker, nothing happens.

They look around at each other, trying to gauge each other's reactions but several of them just shrug. They're a little hesitant but they grip their weapons and keep going. Suddenly, someone yells causing everyone around him to turn and look.

He was on the ground holding his face. They look at him with a frown, fussing at him "Why are you yelling!? Are you trying to give our location away?" The man looks up, dropping his hands. Everyone sucks in, taking a step back when they see the large gash on his face.

Another man yells, "What happened!?" The man points at the tree nearby and says, "It slapped me!" The others pause, looking at him with a frown as another says, "You mean you walked into it?" The man with the gash on his face yells with anger, "Does this look like I walked into the damn thing!? It whipped me in the face as if it was alive!!"

Some of the men look at the tree with fear while the others start chuckling. Half believed the man while the other half thought the guy was drunk or made a mistake and he's just too embarrassed to admit it. A large man walks over and grabs the man with a gash on his face, pulling him up to his feet and patting his back before saying, "Just stay close to me boy."

The 'boy' was a man in his twenties. He grumbles under his breath as he watches the tree with narrowed eyes. He holds a cloth up to his face to stop the bleeding when suddenly another man yells, but this time it's longer.

A man suddenly flies up into the trees by his feet, screaming the whole way up!! The men surrounding him all turn their weapons towards the treetops, looking around for someone when suddenly they see the man hanging from his feet.

Their weapons lower as their mouths drop open in shock. The trees we taking turns beating the man like a living punching bag! They whip him over and over, causing the man to scream and shout but he can't escape their hold.

Before the others could react, the trees begin attacking them all. Chaos breaks out as several scream and run in all different directions. Suddenly the ground was opening up from under them and they were falling!

A commander steps forward and yells, "Order! Fall back in line! Attack the trees!" Cultivators step up and start attacking the trees. When the power hits the tree, the tree splinters, and snaps in half! The large tree groans before snapping and falling over.

The men below yell out as they try to avoid being crushed but before they could attack another tree, something dark flies over and takes the head off the first Cultivator! His body remains standing for a few moments before slowly falling over just as the tree had done.

More chaos breaks out as several dark shadows suddenly descend upon them like a dark wave! Screams of terror and pain are all that's heard as the army of hundreds begins to die! The shadows tear at them slowly, drawing out their deaths as if it were personal!

At this point, no one could bring order back as the shadows fall upon them like a blanket of chaos and death. No matter where they ran or hid, the shadows were able to find them! Either the shadows were attacking them, or the trees were!

Weimin grits his teeth in anger as he watches the entire army fall under Bolin's attack. He looks up at the sky and curses. He had no idea she could do that... He looks back and takes a step forward with determination burning within him.

He uses his blade and his power to cut through the shadows but for some reason, they weren't really attacking him. Was it because he no longer had a shadow? He smirks at his good fortune as he uses his power to quickly travel through the woods, ignoring the pleas for help.

If Bolin was busy out here with the entire army, that meant Lyra was alone. He smiles when he thinks about their reunion. He has a surprise for her.

LYRA

As soon as I feel Weimin use his power, I slowly open my eyes and use my magic to slowly descend to the ground below. I walk into the gardens within the estate and sit down, waiting. Soon enough, Weimin appears before me in all white, looking like a knight in shining armor.

The runes I had placed all over allowed him to make his way all the way here without disruption. In a way, I rolled out a big red carpet for him.

He puts his blade away with a smile and says, "I knew you'd be here all alone." Suddenly, he pulls out familiar chains. He holds them like whips and splits them into two. I watch as they both grow in length as he asks, "Are you going to come willingly, or am I going to have to convince you?"

I smile at him, remaining seated as I say, "Oh, you'll have to convince me but before that, I have a score to settle with you." I slowly stand up as I stare at him, trying to control my anger as I say, "You owe me blood and I plan on collecting it with interest."

He gives me a dark smile as his chains start to come to life. They resembled metal snakes in the way they move. He looks me up and down and says, "You can collect as much as you want once you're back where you belong and in my bed. I should have made you mine while I still had you. I treated you with kindness and you spat on it!"

I scoff at him and say, "You truly are insane." His dark smile grows as he says, "I have you to thank for that. I'm this way because of you! Don't play coy with me, you know exactly what I mean. I can tell that Bolin has still yet to make you his as well. You seem to have a gift for that. To make a man pine over you until they go insane."

This time I actually feel my face blank as I stare at him in complete disbelief. I blink a couple of times before muttering, "You can't argue with someone who's insane..." I grit my teeth as I glare at him with disgust and say, "I don't know how you can tell something like that, and I don't want to know. This ends today, Weimin. The world is better off without someone like you."

He snaps the chains as I bring my hand up, summoning my magic.
