62. Vae Left

Mauve had the last meal in her room. She had been unable to hide her shock when Mill had brought her dinner. She had tried to hide it but it was too late, Mill had already seen it.

When she had asked for Vae, Mill had given her a flimsy excuse. She had not pestered but now she was worried. She slipped to the edge and stood to her feet.

She sat back, she couldn't exactly go out and demanded to see Vae. Something was definitely up, she had to be patient, she saw her before sunset and nothing seemed out of place. She should try to be calm.

A soft knock and Mauve jumped to her, she threw the door open and didn't bother to hide her disappointment. She moved out of the way so he could walk into the room.

Mauve watched him drop the tub and after giving it some thought she asked, "Have you seen Vae, my maid?"

Mack stared at her, his expression was unreadable. He slowly shook his head. "I don't know."
