98. An Intruder

A soft knock, quickly followed by another.

Mauve sat immediately, she rubbed her eyes even though she had not been sleeping. "Come in," she called out.

The door opened and Mill walked in holding a board. Mauve frowned as she tried to decipher what it was. It took a minute but when she saw the tiny ink bowl she understood immediately.

"Sorry, Mauve." Mill said as she walked closer. She dropped the board on the table.

"I got distracted and completely forgot I was supposed to bring this to you and then it took forever to find it in the study."

"It is no problem, Mill. I literally have all day." Mauve said with a smile.

Mill's face fell, "I know it must be annoying to be stuck here."

"It's not so bad," Mauve replied.

It wasn't bad, it was the worst. All she had done was stay in bed all day and when she wasn't in bed, she was pacing the room like a lost soul.
