101. Something's Not Right

Jael held her closer as they spoke, his forehead etched with worry. He doubted she was aware of it, her voice sounded fine but occasionally, she would shiver and he knew it wasn't because she was cold.

This was his fault, if he hadn't left the castle he would have known as soon as Seraphino stepped onto this floor, he wouldn't have had a chance to walk into her room let alone put his hands on her. 

He wanted to rip the maniac's jaw out, his fangs weren't nearly enough. He couldn't help but think about what would have happened if he had been a minute late.

"What are you thinking about?" Her voice broke through his thoughts.

"Nothing specifically," he replied and ran his fingers through her hair

"You went quiet," she mumbled.

"I'd rather listen to you talk."

She buried her face in my side, "I don't have anything else to say."
