A soft sound drew Mauve out of her bed. She sat upright with a frown on her face. She must have dozed off.

The sound that had pulled her from sleep resounded, and it seemed as though whoever was knocking wouldn't come in unless she said to.

"Mauve, it's me." She heard Malcolm say.

"Come in," she attempted, but her voice sounded hoarse. She tried again, this time speaking louder. "Come in."

The door opened immediately, and Malcolm walked in. "Mauve," he called, rushing to where she lay on the bed. "What's going on?"

She folded her knees and placed her head on her knees. "I suppose I am a prisoner now," she replied with a sad smile.

"What? Galath told me he saw some guards escorting you to your room, and when he asked to see you, he was declined. What in hell happened? I know you were supposed to speak to Father after lunch. Does this have anything to do with it?"
