Mauve didn't say anything for a while. She just hung onto the Jael as the carriage swayed from left to right.

They most likely still had a long way to go. Unfortunately, they would have to stop before dawn so the vampires could find a place to set up for the day to hide from the sun.

Inconvenience, huh? She bent her head a little. The King has told her in every way possible what she meant but for some reason, it wasn't sticking.

She would have to stop holding out hope that her relationship with the King would ever change. He wasn't her father, never been and he has only seen her for what he could use her for.

She wanted to change the subject. Wallowing in this was depressing. She didn't want to think about it anymore, it wouldn't change the situation.

"How's the castle?" She asked suddenly.

Jael bent his head to look at her face, she could tell he was surprised at the question. He shrugged before looking away.
