540. Yellow-gold

Mauve stood in front of the open door to her room while Jael stood right outside. His gaze on her, made her hug herself a little.

"You don't like it?" She asked when he didn't say anything for the longest time.

She swayed on her feet. Her shoes were a little higher than normal. It wasn't like she could have worn regular shoes. The dress covered every sign of feet. Even with the heels, it still trailed the floor.

"Surely, you jest," he said, his voice deep.

"Mill has been saving the dress. Well, she wanted me to wear it before now but I told her to save it for an important occasion, and according to her there couldn't be any occasion more important."

Mauve forced a chuckle. She knew she was babbling but she didn't know what else to do as she stood in front of Jael and under his gaze.

"She was right to save it," he whispered. "It really does suit you exceptionally."
