638. Peachy

Mauve's eyes cracked open. Her room was dark; the candlelight must have gone out at some point. Something had woken her up, she was sure of it. She blinked, hoping her eyes would adjust to the darkness even though she knew that was practically impossible.

"You're awake," he whispered.

"Jael!" She cried and tried to sit upright.

"Don't move," he said, and she felt his hand on her arm to stop her from moving.

"How do you feel?" She asked as she laid back.

"I should be asking you that," he said.

She could tell he was looking at her, but it was annoying that she couldn't see his face. All she could tell was that he was sitting not too far away from her, and if she stretched, she could touch him. Mauve stretched her hand until she touched his back, then lifted herself from the bed and leaned against him.

"You shouldn't be moving," he said.
