Mauve arrived at the dining hall with Jael. He quickly led her to her seat, mindful of her stomach as she sat down. Mauve smiled at him and then turned her gaze to Lady Marceline, who was seated next to her.
She was met with peering eyes as Lady Marceline studied her. "How did the meeting go?" she asked Mauve directly.
"Not great." It was Louis who replied. He leaned back in his seat, staring at them. "I didn't expect your brother to be such a pain."
"Louis!" Mauve scolded. "Don't say that about Malcolm, and you heard his reasons."
"Yes, I can't dispute them, but we don't have a lot of time on our hands right now. Who knows when next?"
"Are you more worried about the attacks or the fact that you can't teach more people magic as fast as you want?" Jael interrupted, tossing a glare in Louis's direction.
Louis smiled. "You got me."
