My dad's always said I was special, and would do great things when the time comes he could see it, I have to admit I did believe him at then. But as I grew up I realized he was just bluffing a friendly father daughter encouragement, I didn't take it serious. I mean, have you seen me? I'm not all the bad, but I'm not special, I'm just plain ole Mazikeen, I'm not as special as daddy made me out to be. Yeah, another thing about me, my mum named me after her favorite fighter from the TV series you all guessed, Lucifer. Don't get me wrong, Mazikeen's one role model I wouldn't mind being, then I'd be special. But she's an f'n demon. Well, my mom meant well. Yeah, back to home, I am a disappointment to my family and all. I'm good at school, top of my class well everything I do, well, Gregory Alan is too, a thorn in my side. Always tries to best me at every little thing, scoff. There was this one time I signed up for ballet and he fucking did too. I mean he wasn't any good but, who said he could any way just because I did. His dad and mine were business partners, they usually come over, or we do go over for dinner and even then, I couldn't get the liberty of not seeing his face and risk the portability of getting indigestion every time.
Well, today's a School day best get ready I taken my bath, did the usual daily clean up routine put my uniform, and I'm off, I'm a senior and I want to go to either Waseda university or Kyushu University both in Japan. My Japanese is pretty good, so I don't have an issue. Daddy dearest and mother dearest want me to go somewhere close like Cali U but, I want to leave my comfort zone. Besides , I've always wanted to visit Japan, so it's a win-win.
I style me ombre shoulder-length hair in French braids, and also put in gold hair accessories, I have a nose piercing and two ear-piercing, which daddy didn't approve of, but I go it done anyway, and he paid for it, he-he. So, also put in matching jewelry and grab my bag ready for school. I came down the stairs and turned the corner and into the kitchen to find my parents full on making out on the kitchen island didn't need that image in my head, burgh.
"Ehhhnph, let's leave the PG 16 stuff for the bedroom sha we, or I'll be late for school. And good morning". I said, walking past them and getting seated farthest from them.
Mum is flushed red and takes cover at the stove where my breakfast is burning, she quickly turns it onto a plate and heaves a breath and turns.
"It's still good, umm good morning sweetie" she flushed again when she caught my eyes. She looked at the direction of my eyes and realized her blouse was opened and her boobs trying to run out of her bra. She clears her throat and escapes. I turn to face my dad, his face and ears are flushed red, but he pretends like nothing happened.
"I don't mind you guys making out as long as I get a younger brother or sister and you do the making in your room". I say, munching on my food.
"You ready for school". He said, clearly flustered
"Yes dad, and I'm going to be at Gloria's if you need me" Gloria Estefan and Miranda Cosgrove were my childhood girlfriends, we've been a pack since forever. And Gloria and I leave on the same street, she was on the far end, a ten-minute walk and Miranda being on the next street, roughly twenty minutes.
"Please be back on time for dinner, the Alan's are going to be over for dinner, and please stop picking on Gregory, ok sunshine". He says, smiling at me.
"Fine, but he should seat as far away from me as possible". Then we ate in quiet. When we were ready to leave, I realized mom never come down.
"Mum we leaving you ready to leave, are you coming?".
"I'm coming sweetie be only a minute". She said well I'd go easy on her, I didn't let her finish up on breakfast, but it wasn't my fault they decided to make lil them on the island, not that I'm complaining, being an only child is cool. But I can't say that aloud. I know how long they waited for me and how much they prayed for another, but we don't always get what we want.
Mom finally came down, and she's stunning and dads awestruck, I walk up to her, and she kisses my cheek. Dad finally clears his throat and walks over to her, and his red in the face.
"What's the occasion". He grumbled, not liking the idea of his wife being this dressed, not that he had any issue with her dressing up. But, this wasn't for him, now that's the issue
"We have a lunch meet with the partnering firm and as the CEO I have to look my best don't I sweetheart". She leans on his chest and says, trying to appease her jealous husband while drawing little circles on his torso. The love they had for each other was beautiful, I wish I could have that, but, with a non-existent love life, I'm a long run from a happy ever after.
"Fine but if anyone gives you, as much as a side glance I'm breaking their heads". He says, his nostrils flaring. His talking about the last time, the vice president of the partnering company tried to hit on my mom, and dad happened to be in the district, so he came to take mom out for lunch.
Well, let's just say poor Valdez had to get 6 stitches on his jaw, it was a pretty sight. Dad got a restraining order slapped on him, and Valdez stopped doing business with mom.
"Let's go people, I'm going to be late". I walked out the door to the door, walked out and went straight into the car, turned on the radio and my favorite jam camera burst through. And I'm dancing and shaking, Reggie is the best. I didn't even hear my parents come in, but I'm pretty, dad was the one who turned it down the nerve on that man.
"What the big idea". I said coming down from my high. Mum giggles at a joke they shared, which I wasn't part off.
"Rude" I mumbled, and ran my hands through my hair.
"Did you say something, sweetie". And I choke on my saliva
"No nothing mom". Dad pulls out of the driveway finally. I can't wait to get to school and hear all about Gloria's family's weekend trip to the Maldives. She sent pics and shit, but I want first-hand description of the place.
We arrive at the school in no time and I hop off the car, and I hear dad call for me.
"Urgh, what dad?".
"No goodbye kisses". I give him a long stare,
"Good bye would surface". He says, scratching his nape. And I hold back a laugh.
I kiss him on the cheek and go around and do the same for mom.
"Bye" I say, waving at them
"Have a great day at school".
Third-person POV
"Cupcakes do you think she'd take the news well". Samantha says watching her daughter disappear in a crowd of school children. Her husband reaches over and takes her hand in his, and holds tight, not enough to hurt her, but enough to give comfort.
"Our daughter is strong, and it's time she knows about the family's legacy and secrets. She'll do just fine, just u wait and see". He says, looking at his wife with pure admiration and pride in his eyes.
"We going to be late Benjamin". She says, resting her hand on his chest and returning his gaze with the same intensity and desire.
"I know I know but, we both CEO's so, we can afford to be a little late. And we didn't get to finish what we started in the kitchen". He said, leaning forward and easing himself out of the seat belt.
"We In front of a school Jam"
"I love it when you call me that and, yeah, I'm going to drive you to our penthouse".
" You kept the pent house"
"Well for special occasions, but if you don't want to I could get rid of it". He said feeling down cast.
"No that would be perfect". And she kisses him, he caresses her face and deepens the kiss then, she pulls away.
"Tease".
"Let's go already".
