MYSTERY II

Cynthia was going through the hidden cams Thibaut installed all through Zho city, she did that everyday. The base got boring quickly for her whenever she wasn't in the library, and so she resorted to watching the cams. The guys whiled away their time with all sorts of video games, leaving her all alone to the cold embrace of boredom.

She had seen all manner of crimes including murders committed but she couldn't do anything to help the victims, Thibaut said they hadn't gone very far in their training and he couldn't risk letting either or both of them out of the base especially since they hadn't reached immortality like most high profile gods.

It was almost time for their daily routine practice and she began hurriedly going through the footages, on reaching the last one, she heaved a sigh of relief. She hated starting up something without finishing it up, it left a certain void in her heart. She fast forwarded the footage at certain points in order to finish in time for practice, she was the weakest of the trio but that didn't deter her from practicing. It instead further motivated her.

As she watched hurriedly, she found footage of a place where there was intense earthquake. She saw people run in all directions in a bid to make it out of the region, what surprised her was how the earthquake seemed to cut out that region while other parts were perfectly fine.

The atmosphere was chaotic, people had began trampling on one another as they all struggled to save their lives. And then all of a sudden, it all went down. The place became as quiet and calm as a graveyard, she saw the dazed look on the people's face which didn't last long before they began celebrating.

She smiled, happy that they were safe and was about to shut down the computer when she saw weird creatures spring out of the ground.

They looked so scary and intimidating. And for some reason, they seemed familiar to her. She tried hard to remember where she had seen them before but her brain was not giving in, she watched the creatures murder every single human there was.

She hurriedly shut down the computer, it was becoming too much horror for her mind to endure. Beads of tears had started forming in the corner of her eyes and that was when she remembered where she had seen the creatures before.

She rushed into the elevator that led to the floor where the library was. As she came out of the elevator, she ran into Alex who was always overly excited during practice. Alex enjoyed the feeling of being powerful far more than she had expected. "Where are you up to sis? You should be going down to the practice field , not coming up." he asked, squinting his eyes slightly.

Cynthia knew better than to lie to him or cause an argument, he would surely go wild and try to show his authority as the senior. Her brother had changed over the few weeks they had discovered their powers, he didn't think things through anymore. He felt his power answered all questions, and he didn't care about the effects his actions had on others. He was blinded by power, she hoped it wouldn't drown him someday.

"I saw a footage from the cameras in the Southern part of our city, there was some sort of attack from weird creatures. A larger chunk of the population escaped, but a few remained and they were brutally murdered by the creatures. And I think I've seen those creatures in a book before and I want to confirm." She explained in details to win him over once and for all.

Just as she finished, he glowed a bright red and in a flash they were out in the practice field. "That can wait sis", he felt proud of himself for the speed with which he moved her out and he wasn't hiding it. He smirked at Cynthia, making her look defeated. And how he enjoyed that look.

In no time, Thibaut joined them and the practice session began. Alex requested to spa with Thibaut, Thibaut was reluctant at first. He wanted them to focus on honing their skills first, especially the special ones that came with the heavenly bodies to which they are connected. However, Alex was always interested in fighting, but Thibaut didn't consider it much of a problem since he still moved at a considerable rate.

Thibaut created a force field to mark their fighting ring, Cynthia stayed outside of the ring and played the spectator as she usually did whenever they fought.

The fight began with Alex starting strongly on the offense, he lit up a dark golden colour. A sword made of a dark-red fire appeared in his hand, he jumped high in the air " fiery blades"

A fiery energy came out of the sword and made for Thibaut, but he was not getting him that easily. Thibaut released several energy balls, easily countering Alex's attacks.

Thibaut was not really into swords, this was mostly because he was from a lineage of gods who were indestructible and so he wasn't scared of close combat with sword users since he wouldn't get hurt anyways.

Alex wasn't relenting, he kept throwing attacks at Thibaut and the latter kept cancelling them out. Thibaut was literally having fun with Alex, he was seeing alot of faults and holes in his fighting styles. He laughed at the inexperience of Alex and decided to have some fun with him.

He hit his fists together creating a shockwave, forcing Alex to create a solar shield in front of him. Just as he was cancelling out the shield he put up, he felt danger behind him. He turned sharply to meet a separated fist coming from behind him, he reacted quickly by covering his fist with flames and meeting the incoming fist. On meeting the fist, a shockwave was created destroying half the battle field but as he thought he had cancelled it out, he realized that wasn't the main attack.

Shocked by the trick, he turned quickly but it was too late. He turned to meet Thibaut's fist, covered in weird energy and about to hit his face directly. His eyes opened wide as the fist hit his face, knocking him out in an instant. Alex tried his best to stay conscious, he closed his eyes in the painful realization that he had lost to Thibaut again.

As soon as Alex passed out, Thibaut cancelled out the force field and carried Alex to the lab for treatment. "Cynthia, come assist me take care of him, his face is pretty messed up." He said without looking at her, but got no reply from her. This prompted him to look to her direction as he was getting ready to increase his voice. Surprisingly, as he looked towards her direction, he discovered that she wasn't there anymore. He felt foolish, he didn't give much thought to it though. He knew she wasn't the careless type and she probably just went to get something and will trace them to the lab when she's done.

Meanwhile, in the base, Cynthia just rushed out of the elevator and was heading as quickly as she could to the library. She couldn't concentrate on their fight and had sneaked inside the base, she had always been the type of person who couldn't control her curiosity. She knew if she decided to stay to watch the fight, she wouldn't even know who won after the fight.

She pushed the heavy iron door and it creaked as it opened up, letting her into the room filled with all manner of ancient history books. She began searching her favorite shelves in hopes that she had returned the book to one of them after reading it, but she was so wrong.

She searched every shelf she could remember taking a book from but didn't find it, she walked over to her reading table and sat in frustration.

She had searched for exactly an hour and was very tired, she rested her head on the table and stretched her hand forward. She felt a book under her forward stretched arm, she raised her head lazily and picked up the book. Just as she was about to return the book, she realized it was the book she had been searching for.

She wanted to smile that she had finally found it, but at the same time she was very angry that she searched for a book that was just on her reading table for an hour.

She hurriedly flipped through the pages of the medium sized book, searching for the picture of the creature. After a brief search, she found it and read the brief writing under it ' the second most valued creature of Lucifer, they originate from the deepest parts of hell and can only be released by an arch demon'

" Does that mean the demons are back?" Cynthia asked aloud as the book dropped out of her hand involuntarily.

"What demons?" Thibaut asked. He knew the only place she would be would be the library and he was right. He always wondered how she could sit for hours to read.

Just then, an illusion of a monsterous demon appeared before he and she instantly passed out, Thibaut was quick enough to catch her. He now had two unconscious siblings on his hands.

As he carried her to his lab he thought, 'what has she found out that could scared her so much? And why was she mentioning demons, those creatures have been gone for a long time, I would have read what she read but I'll be deceiving myself because I won't last a minute with the book's he chuckled as he said that. 'Well, she has a lot of questions to answer when she's awake' he concluded his thought.
