A TALE OF TWO SIBLINGS II

Alex stared blankly at the two unconscious people in front of him, he wasn't sure he knew the slightest thing to do. He looked round at the different tubes containing different chemicals, a few of which he could recognize because he had seen Thibaut and his sister use them before but he didn't know their use as he was never interested in their science sessions. He found them extremely boring and now he was regretting it.

Alex walked round the lab continuously, busy doing nothing in particular, reading the labels on everything and anything he picked up in his bid to find a drug, or possibly a potion that could wake them up. After all, Thibaut was a magician.

After a long search, he finally stumbled on a magic potion that read 'life potion' on a very old possibly abandoned shelf, Alex was thrilled, there was a chance he had just found what he had been looking for. As he was about to try out the potion on Thibaut, he suddenly became skeptical. This was a magical item he was dealing with, if movies had taught him anything it would be that if something went wrong during this process, they could both end up as crooked looking birds or some weird creature and he'd most likely have to kill them. He felt a chill down his spine at the thought of that.

Alex dropped the potion rather angrily forgetting that he left it half opened, the cap came off and a few drops of the liquid spilled on a medium sized space rock that lay underneath the table. Thibaut had about five of those lying about in his lab, Thibaut once wanted to touch them but Thibaut hastily pulled him away before he made contact.

Alex always wondered what could lie in those irregularly shaped space rocks but never got the chance to find out and here he was alone with enough time to feed his curiosity, Alex rubbed his palms together expectantly at the thought of that.

He bent and reached for the rock on which the magic potion had spilled. But just as he was about to touch it, the stone suddenly came alive. It moved at neck breaking speed knocking Alex down in the process, it showed a slight glow which the other four rocks responded to instantly. In a moment, they were all floating in circles around each other. Alex would have smiled at the colourful scene that looked like one from a Hollywood movie but he was still nursing the pain resulting from the hit he got from the rock.

After a few minutes, they all dropped down to the ground. Alex was now more curious than ever, he watched the rocks carefully as they cracked open slowly but surely. Alex ducked quickly and narrowly avoided an incoming energy ball that shot out of one of the rocks, " I really have to work on my reflexes" Alex said amidst gasps, realizing he almost lost an ear from the blast.

After the blast shot out, the rock began to crack open. From the cracks on the rocks, Alex could see a dark blue light. The other rocks released their energy balls successively, forcing Alex to hide behind shelves to prevent being turned to ash.

After about two minutes, the five rocks clashed together, forcing themselves open and causing a shockwave that left half the lab in ruins.

Alex groaned in pain as he struggled to get out of the rubbles, he looked around the lab in awe. The half where he was was totally destroyed and the lab was supposed to be indestructible " Cynthia!" he shouted as he realized that Thibaut and Cynthia were at the other side of the lab.

Alex tried to peer through the thick mist that had seemingly divided the lab in half, he walked very close to the mist wall wondering what was going on behind it and whether or not to go in.

A strong wind suddenly blew out of the mist, blowing Alex to the ground and clearing the mist wall as well. As he stood, he saw five alien looking humans (three females and two males) with elf like ears and light blue skinned, their eyes shone bright as crystals hit by sunlight. Alex rubbed his eyes in disbelief, he had thought of all possible outcomes but not this.

" Thanks for releasing us, we'll be on our way now and we'll serve justice to everyone that was involved in the destruction of our clan", one of the females spoke with a voice do smooth it sounded unreal. ' She must be the leader of the group' Alex thought.

Where the supposed aliens stood, sun rays began entering through cracks formed after the explosion. As the sun rays met their skin, the blue pigment slowly evaporated until their complexion became normal. " finally, we're back" one of the males said, a cunny smile plastered on his face, one that screamed 'criminal'.

Alex was rooted to the spot on which he was standing. Despite their overly pointed ears, they were the definition of beauty. If they had as much power, they'd be perfect he thought.

He finally got his mind over that and decided to focus on whether or not to let them go, " and why should I just let you go?" Alex questioned realizing they could have been trapped in those rocks for a reason.

The female from before smirked and replied nonchalantly " since when did children start getting involved in issues concerning elders?"

Alex was confused and he wasn't hiding it, her voice sounded serious but her expression was a sarcastic one. She obviously looked his age so how was she an elder? And was she calling him a child? He cast her a warning look and thought ' I'd show her who the child here is '.

Without any form of warning, Alex increased the temperature of the room. He had been looking for a place to practice his latest move, what better place than here? He thought.

He now had access to plenty more moves since he had been working on his pure energy reserves and was almost prepared for the unlimited pure energy he was entitled to as a protector, this left him with one more job which was to build his physical strength. Being the major weakness of all protectors, it wasn't going to be easy and he knew it.

An ultra violent wave spread across the room, cutting whatever was in its path. The five sub humans avoided them without stress but he wasn't done yet, he closed his eyes for a few seconds to summon his pure energy and soon he was glowing a bright red. He waved his right arm towards the sub humans, a destructive flame followed the direction he waved at and made for them but yet again they avoided the attack. Alex could see clear mockery in the eyes of their leader, she didn't even seem it fit to retaliate. " You're still too weak, you're not worthy of a fight with the least of my people" she scoffed and squinted her eyes at him. In a second, she was in front of the surveillance system in the lab. She seemed disgusted as she watched the hustle and bustle of the people and she wasn't hiding it, ' isn't such a scene supposed to make one smile at least?' Alex screamed in his head.

"It seems the naivety of humans is beginning to rub off on the supernatural beings who live on Earth with them, such a shame. We should be in control of everything but no you all choose to hide under their shadows. Well thanks to you for bringing me back, all that will finally stop" she smirked evilly at him, electricity sparked and the surveillance cameras were burnt in an instant.

Three quick flashes of light went past him almost making him dizzy. Beside him, he heard a familiar voice chant some magic words. As he turned, he saw the remaining two sub humans trapped in a kind of magic reinforced force field and behind them stood Thibaut and Cynthia both giving him questioning looks, ' I'm so in trouble' he whispered.

After a few hours, Alex, Cynthia and Thibaut were sitting around a glass table, Alex was done with his assigned task of cleaning up the lab though he considered it more of a punishment and the after effect of the tough job was still very evident as his eyes showed signs of heaviness.

" So Alex, do you mind telling us how you released one of the most dangerous groups in the universe?" Thibaut questioned turning to his left were the remaining two sat in force field cells, he had taken them every where he went today. He didn't plan on taking any chances or losing them, the three that were out were enough bad news.

Alex explained to them how the old man had come into his room, their fight, how he got convinced to join the academy, and how he had a feeling Cynthia was in danger and rushed over and destroyed the swordman that tried to kill her and then his rock adventure and the story just went on.

Thibaut shook his head in disbelief of how much he was oblivious of, " those creatures are dangerous, they are built killers. Their speed is top notch, it took lot of efforts from past magicians to trap them in those rocks and now that they're back, they'd hunt down their generations."

Thibaut stood up from the couch and circled them for a while, " you know the worst part is they're shape shipters, they can take the form of anyone and anything and know what they know too'. We have to mark ourselves to prevent a mix up in the future he suggested, the siblings both nodded in approval and he conjured a flame and made the markings.

As Alex made to return, he tried to convince Cynthia to go with him but she refused. She felt it would be ingratitude on her path to just leave Thibaut and as much as he wasn't pleased, she did have a point and he had to respect her decision and so amidst a very emotional atmosphere, he rubbed the talisman and disappeared.
