What? Was That What I Thought?

Huh? What? Was that what I was thinking?

Ivan was so stunned that he couldn't think straight for a moment. He hadn't expected his accidental mistake to be misinterpreted like this…

Fortunately, he reacted quickly and swallowed his apology.

At this point, Ivan certainly would not expose the truth. It would be a thankless task, and not only would it damage his image in everyone's eyes, but it would also make old Rosier unhappy.

Therefore, Ivan had no choice but to go along with the old Rosier.

Ivan cleared his throat and said slowly, "Ahem… Very good. It seems that you understand my intentions!" Then he pretended to be a drama queen and continued.

"But I thought you'd be smarter. You wouldn't have to reveal your identity, and you probably wouldn't need this backup plan. I didn't think they'd find out."

"I'm sorry, Sir Harls, but I tried to be as careful as I could… Foley was too cunning, and he paid off my servants. He only became suspicious when he found out that I was out more often these days…" Rosier explained in frustration.

Previously, he was still a little puzzled as to why Ivan did not directly say that he had such a plan. What if Ivan did not think of it and even resented him? Wouldn't all his efforts be in vain?

It was only now that old Rosier realised that he had been too clever!

And turned out to be quite unworthy!

Thinking of this, old Rosier was very ashamed. He only thought of the first and second levels of meaning and was secretly delighted. However, he did not understand the third level. It seemed that he was still very far away!

Ivan did not dare to put on too much of an act in the face of such a imaginative expert. He quickly offered a few words of comfort and even generously praised old Rosier's quick-wittedness in the meeting room.

Ivan was pleased with Rosier Senior's ability to instantly realise the significance of lights-out without prior notice, and to intervene to cause chaos.

After a round of praise, Ivan took out his wand and cast a counter-curse to remove the wound from old Rosier's waist.

Seeing this wound that had troubled him for a long time gradually heal, old Rosier was relieved. He had been worried that he would bleed to death for the past two days, so much so that he could not sleep well.

"All in all, you did well this time. What do you want?" Yvonne asked old Rosier casually.

Based on his many years of experience watching television dramas, he felt that it would not be good if he did not reward the person who had just surrendered.

However, Ivan regretted his words when he realised that he had nothing to reward her with.

'How about a hundred Galleons?'

'Is that too little? Another hundred?'

Ivan was torn, and worried that old Rosier would say something he couldn't, which would be awkward.

After a moment's hesitation, the elder Rossier said, "I would like to ask Lord Harls to spare Foley and the others!"

"Are you sure?" Yvonne was surprised.

He remembered that old Rosier had been very quick to betray the pure-bloods, and now he was pleading for his life. Ivan couldn't understand what he was up to.

"Although we had some conflicts, we've been friends for decades, so I wanted to try and persuade them to work for you. Please give me a chance!" Rosier said with a sad expression.

Ivan raised his eyebrows. He did not believe old Rosier was doing this thankless task for the sake of so-called friendship.

This was because it was easy to imagine that Foley and the others, having escaped capture, would most likely seek revenge on the traitor, old Rosier.

However, the disposal of these pure-bloods was a major headache for him, so he did not mind if Rosier Senior persuaded them to surrender.

The question was whether Rosier Senior would be able to do so, and whether the pure-bloods would be willing to surrender rather than pretend to do so.

"Do you know anything about Reese Nott?" Ivan asked suddenly.

Old Rozelle paused for a moment, not quite sure why Ivan had suddenly brought this up, but then quickly replied, "Of course I do. He's the nephew of old Nott. He was taken by one of your werewolf wizards two days ago during the battle at the Manor."

"So how did he get on with the Norts?" Ivan asked.

"Old Nott didn't have a son, and when he dies, Reese Nott will succeed him!" Rosier explained to Ivan.

There were very few Norts, and all of them had joined the Death Eaters during the last Wizarding War, either at the hands of Aurors or in Azkaban.

He also subtly reminded Ivan that using Reese to intimidate the old Notte might be a good idea.

"Like that?" Yvonne said, nodding that she understood, and then added:

"Rhys Nott died two days ago!"

"Died? How?" Old Rosier asked in confusion, but he quickly guessed what had happened. He quickly changed his tone, pretended to be disgusted, and shouted.
