Level Seven Alchemy

Ivan's words stunned Nicolas Flamel.

He taught many students during his six-hundred-year career, but he was the first to work as hard as Ivan.

No wonder he was able to reach a level of magic far beyond that of ordinary wizards at such a young age.

Nicolas-Lemme sighed to himself, but ultimately rejected Ivan's self-tortured study plan.

After more than a month of high-intensity learning, even if one's body could withstand it, they would be mentally dispirited and might even affect their learning efficiency. It was simply a loss-making move.

The most important thing was that his old bones could not take it. He did not want to wake up before dawn to teach Ivan about alchemy.

In the long run, even if this kid could withstand it, he would not be able to…

Seeing that Nicolas Flamel was determined to cut his losses, Ivan did not argue further. He was free to use those breaks however he liked, such as reading.

After making his plans, Ivan devoted himself to his studies of alchemy for the next few days, and Nicolas Flamel was generous with his advice, devoting a great deal of time each day to answering Ivan's questions.

Ivan was disappointed when, despite his rapid improvement in alchemy over the past few days, his level was still stuck at the limit of Level 6.

"What went wrong?" Ivan muttered, confused.

Unable to make head or tail of it, Ivan decided to put the idea of a breakthrough out of his mind for the time being. Whatever he had learned recently would not be false, and his own alchemy had indeed improved, and that was enough.

Ivan believed that if he continued to improve at this rate, one day there would be a qualitative change…

And it shouldn't be too long, because he had left thousands of GPA unused during his school year, and now he had spent it all on alchemy.

Under the double BUFF of cheating and hard work, Ivan was able to master all of the subjects that Nicolas Flamel expected him to learn in a week, often in two or three days, much to the surprise of Nicolas Flamel.

The high pressure lasted for over a month, and Ivan lived the boring life of sleeping with his eyes open in class.

It wasn't until a week before school started that Ivan heard the long-lost system prompt in his head.

[Ding, after a period of practice, your level of alchemy has greatly improved, current level seven (11/32000)]

Ivan calmly finished carving a ring and placed it on his left pinky before opening the status bar to check it.

"After being stuck for the better part of a year, I finally made a breakthrough," Ivan said, sighing in relief as he saw that his Alchemy skill had been upgraded to Level 7.

This was his fifth skill to reach Level 7, and it was also the most arduous. Just by looking at the long progress bar, one could tell how much effort he had put into it.

In order to break through this bottleneck, he used up all of his accumulated achievement points, read most of Nicolas Flamel's alchemy books, and mastered the art of Guidance Magic.

Ivan would be devastated if the system did not recognise him as a Level 7 Alchemist.

By contrast, he was highly talented in mind magic, and his Memory Charm, Legilimency, and Occlumency naturally broke through to level seven, with little targeted training.

Ivan suspected that this talent might have something to do with his frequent use of the Academic Genius Card to speed up his brain.

Of course, the Dark Wizards who were kept in the cells were also credited, as Ivan often experimented on them in Knockturn Alley.

"My magic has also increased by twenty-two points, almost as much as the last time I fused my blood." Ivan nodded in satisfaction, muttering to himself.

Starting at the age of fourteen, he was at the height of his magic's growth, and would continue to grow faster and faster until he was twenty-two or twenty-three.

Ivan estimated that he would have 2.7 times the magic of an adult wizard by the end of the year.

Unfortunately, it was still not enough…

Ivan was greedy, but he quickly turned his attention back to the experiment table. He did not forget that he had a very heavy task in the afternoon, so he immediately picked up another ring and started carving.

Time passed slowly. By the time he put down the carving knife in his hand, the sky had already darkened.

Ivan heard the faint sound of footsteps and turned to see the lab door swinging open.

"Well? Did it go well?" Nicolas Flamel asked as he entered the room.

"Yes, it's all done!" Ivan nodded, proudly holding out his hand to show off the protective rings on each of his fingers.

The corner of Nicolas Flamel's mouth twitched slightly. Ivan was prepared to use his newfound knowledge of alchemy to modify all of his magical tools and enhance their abilities.

However, he did not expect Ivan to forge ten enhanced protective rings and put them on his finger.

Wasn't this… too much of a life-saver?

Niko Flamel shook his head, speechless. "Hales, I think you should know that the more magical tools you have, the better."

Ivan nodded sheepishly. Of course he understood that.

It was already the limit for an ordinary wizard to be able to split his attention to control four or five magical objects in battle. Any more than that would only cause him to panic in an intense battle and drag down his combat strength.

However, he was an exception. With the help of the Academic Genius Experience Card, he had no problem controlling a dozen magical objects at once.

In addition, the high attack and low defense of wizards had always been a sore point for him, and he could not transform into a black mist to be immune to most attacks like Voldemort, so he created the Ten Commandments to protect himself!

Other wizards' magic, and even Muggle hot weapons, would have to pass through ten layers of protection, each of which was tougher than the Shield Charm he had cast himself. Even if he were to be attacked by a dozen wizards at once, it would be impossible to break through…
