A New Beginning (7)

After a friendly chat, Ivan left six Aurors behind as guards for Seaton and led the group back to the French Ministry of Magic to clean up the mess.

Grindelwald, the main culprit, may have been executed, but many of the messes he left behind were still there.

The most urgent of these was the election of a new French Minister to end the chaos of the French wizarding community.

Fortunately, Ivan was very experienced in this, and after some inspection and Legilimency, he found the most tactful and favourable Head of the Department of Magical Co-operation.

The disturbance caused by the huge tornadoes at the Palace of Versailles was also dealt with, with every Muggle high-ranking official in the know suffering from a Memory Charm. It was easier to deal with the ignorant masses below, and with the help of experts and the press, it quickly became an ordinary natural disaster.

After settling this mess, Colin Morton and the others, who had returned to the International Confederation of Wizards, hesitated for a while before asking.

"Herr Hales, is it really okay for us to treat the French President this way?"

Ivan glanced at him and explained patiently, "Don't forget, these are special times, Captain Morton. Imagine if we tried to talk him out of it. Would President Seaton listen and cooperate?"

Corin-Morton thought about it for a moment, but could think of nothing to say. If Ivan did not put on a strong front, Seaton would never agree to the addition of an Auror as a personal bodyguard, which would most likely give the Saints who were still on the run an opening to exploit.

And without official full cooperation, the two riots in Paris would not have been so easily quelled.

Of course, as a wizard, Colin Morton did not care about the French President's mental health at all. He brought the matter up deliberately just to give a subtle hint to the President in front of him that someone had broken a total of seventeen League regulations today!

… .

Early the next morning, the news spread throughout the wizarding community that Ivan had led a surprise attack on the French Ministry of Magic and successfully killed the Dark Lord Grindelwald.

Mainstream papers such as the Daily Prophet, the European Times, and the International Society for Magical Exchange all went out of their way to advertise Ivan's acumen and decisiveness.

Not to mention the regular wizards, who were relieved to hear the news.

Ever since Grindelwald's escape two years ago, the harmonious wizarding community has been plunged into chaos, with reports of mad saints attacking Muggles and even Mudbloods affecting half-bloods.

They were further horrified when, two months earlier, Grindelwald, disguised as the President of the North American Ministry of Magic, wreaked havoc inside the Houses of Parliament and killed several ministers, leading many knowledgeable wizards to despair that the Second Wizarding War was inevitable.

However, Ivan's appointment to the post of Acting President quickly changed the tide of the conflict, as a large number of rioting Saints were sent to prison, and even the Dark Lord Grindelwald was killed in a duel.

Almost overnight, Ivan became famous, and under the adulation of the media, he became the undisputed strongest wizard, the new savior of the wizarding world!

All of Ivan's previous legends were brought to light, taking up almost every page of the newspaper.

It was also inevitable that there would be some dissent, such as the Nordic Magical Times alluding to the misuse of power by an acting President of the Ministry of Magic, who had started a war against the French Ministry of Magic without first convening a Wizarding Conference to liaise with other countries.

Ivan was not going to go easy on these media outlets, who were trying to get attention by making up stories about him.

It is also worth mentioning that the System's task of dominating the wizarding world has finally been completed!

[Mission Objective: Dominate the Wizarding World

Task Progress: 100%

Task Reward: Legendary Points*5 (Collect or not)

Task description: In order to gain control of the wizarding world, you treacherously used Grindelwald to clean up his political enemies and slaughter his opponents, extending your influence to every corner of the globe.

Now that you're full of wings, you've finally decided to shed your disguise. It's time to take the world into your own hands!"

Even Ivan, who had been mentally prepared for this, was caught between laughter and tears when he saw the mission instructions in the system.

How could he possibly get himself such a chuunibyou thing…

Ivan grumbled to himself as he took the prize.

Five Legendary Points was enough to exchange for the next Bloodline Fusion in the Protection Mode, but considering that there was no one in the entire world who could match him, Ivan was in no hurry to do so. Instead, he decided to study the information that Slytherin had left behind and choose the most suitable Bloodline from all the magical creatures…

In addition to this, Ivan did not forget that his top priority was to prepare for the meeting in a month's time, so he was busy for the next few days, and the first thing to do was to remove the word "agent" and become the true President of the League.

This was not difficult. His feat of killing Grindelwald to stop the war was enough to silence the wizards who had previously questioned him. The only difficult part was unifying the will of the wizarding community.

Although he was now the titular Supreme Leader of the wizarding community, if he were to challenge the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, he would be opposed by all conservative parties and might even be made a public enemy, a second Grindelwald.

Fortunately, Ivan never intended to make the leap of faith, as the longevity of the Elixir of Life allowed him to have the patience to spend decades and centuries integrating wizards and Muggles.

The meeting in a month's time was only the beginning, and the reason for the rush was that the timing was perfect.

He controlled Britain and France, both of which were wizarding powers. The new presidents of North America and Russia were in a hurry to gain power and needed his support.

The remaining president of the Asian Association was a smart man and did not have the guts to openly oppose him, even if he had some ideas.

It must be noted that the most elite wizards and witches of the wizarding world were all under the control of the Magical Marker in the newly formed Swift Response Force. This, combined with the prestige gained from the recent killing of Grindelwald, gave Ivan a chance to negotiate on behalf of the wizarding world and the Muggle heads of state!
