The cup fell to the stone floor as Cat had jumped from shock.
"Cobrantes." The only word she could squeeze out.
"It is queen to you." Cobrantes leisurely made her way over to her. Her arms were folded across her bosoms, draped in an all-black gown. Her eyes never left her as she casually approached her side. "When you have fulfilled your purpose and earned your name only then will you call me by mine."
Cobrantes reached out and grabbed the other goblet that Kilik had left behind. She walked past Cat to look towards the direction where the light was shining past the mountain.
"Would you like to know what's out there Cat?" Cobra side eyed her as she nodded towards the mountain. Cateile only stared. She tried to gather her thoughts on how to ask her sister what had happened those times. Her appearance was so unexpected that she was still baffled.
"No. You are too weak to know what is out there. That's why your father couldn't throw you away like he did me. Protect you, is what he calls it." Cobrantes took a long sip of the wine, emptying the goblet.
"What did they do to you?" Cat was interested now. She felt compelled to know what happened all those years ago. No one else had the same experience as she did with being condemned by the High Priest. Only her sister. She needed to know.
"Do you really want to know?" Cobrantes grinned and tilted her head in curiosity. After a slightly reluctant nod from Cateile, she chucked the goblet over her shoulder and off of the side of the terrace. Grinning, she leaned back against the railing and folded her arms.
"I was told lies of love, protection, and family. But no one ever told me the truth. The truth of blood, fire, magic….and dragons." Cobrantes made direct eye contact with Cateile as she uttered the last word.
Cateile's eyes widened as she stared at her sister. There's no way that she could be talking about the same thing. Not certain if she was, Cat fixed her expression.
"Dragons aren't real. Neither is magic."
"What about fire, kitten? What about blood? Only those two cannot be real, but the other two are?" Cobrantes chuckled and rolled her eyes.
"What are you trying to say?"
"I am trying to say that it is real." Cobrantes turned away from Cat to point to the mysterious light shining behind the mountain. "I may not know what is out there, but I do know that God's, dragons, and magic are all real."
Cateile waited. She dared not say another word so as not to give her sister the upper hand. She couldn't discern if her sister was toying with her mind or what. She didn't know of what she spoke, but she was frightened about the words Cobra would utter next.
"You want me to say it aloud?" Cobrantes inched closer to Cateile. She stood slightly taller than her little sister. As she reached out, she stroked her beautiful curls tussled around her face. She leaned in to her ear and whispered.
"He is real. Your dream. The dream you have every night that you are so desssperately afraid of. He will come with his blood and magic. Balls of fire will rain down upon your kingdom."
Cat's throat closed up. Her eyes began welling with tears. How is this possible? No, she's lying! Wait…how did she know about her dream?
"How did you know about my dream?"
Cobrantes' eyes turned serious even more so than what they had been. She almost looked a bit annoyed. She rolled her eyes and stepped back from Cat.
"It's not a dream."
"Never mind that! Tell me! Why are you here? What do you want from us?" Cateile tried to change the subject quickly before she became so far entrapped in her sister's lies.
"Us?" Cobrantes placed a hand over her bosom and erupted into a deep laughter. "You're not one of them."
"Why?"
"You know why. You pretend the fool yet cannot play the part, kitten. I'm here to unturn your family's little secrets. A secret about you that they have hidden from you. Years ago, two men from your kingdom sent a small girl to her death. Jarhod and Saith of Kajor. I will exact my revenge."
"Our father put him to death for his accusations against us! You no longer need revenge...!"
"DO NOT PRESUME TO TELL ME what it issss that I need!" Cobrantes yelled at Cat. Her voice rumbled with a slow hiss as she unleashed a part of her anger. "Kitten, you see what you wish to see and I see it all! Go find your dear mother and ask her what is hidden in those deep, dark places of hers."
Cobrantes started to storm off from the terrace, angry. Before she could make it far, Cateile launched out to grab her arm, stopping her midway.
"Cobrantes. I am begging you to stop now! If you attempt to hurt my family, I will be your enemy."
"Then I must apologize now, kitten." Cobrantes swiped her hand from her arm and straightened herself. "However, I must tell you this now while you are not yet my enemy. You will know what it feels like to try so very hard to protect them but fail at doing so. I tell you this now that it is not your fault for when they cast you aside. You only meant to protect them. You will see it clearly. He will help you see it."
"He is not real! Stop saying that!" Cateile was yelling franticly. Slightly bewildered as she shook her head. Tears ran down her cheeks as she stared at the expression of doubt her sister gave her. She searched Cobra's face for any signs of deception but could find none. Surely her sister was lying to her. This much she knew! There is no man in this world capable of destroying kingdoms with rain of fire!
"He is real. You cannot stop him. He is coming for you." Cobra turned and made her way through the door
