There's a another Webster in Town(MCU/Spiderwoman Oc) #Title's a Work in Progress#

I'm sure you have heard this story a million times. Rando gets hits by a truck, gets sent to fictional world and all that crap. Well that's also my story. In my previous life, I was a lonely woman in her middle ages who took solace in works of fictions. In this life, I am Jessica Drew, an orphan who lives with her Foster family. Oh, and yes I am Spider Woman. OK let's rewind back.

As far as I knew, I had been left at the orphanage when I barely a month old. Growing up there was a hassle to say the least. The nuns were strict and spent their time shoving the Bible down out throats than actually caring for us. The neighborhoods kids constantly harrassed us as did their parents. I hoped for someone to adopt me but no one ever did. And that's just the tip of the ice berg.

Eventually, when I got old enough, I was placed in foster care which did make things better. I mean we weren't exactly 'family' but they made sure to keep me fed, clothed and had a good education so honestly, it could have been much worse.

Over the years, I have come to realise that I was in the MCU. Which both frightened and excited me. Excited because I would get to see such legendary characters as real people and frightened because of everything this planet will go through in the coming years.

Now, since I was isekai ed does that i have a cheat. Well kinda. I was much more academically smart than I was in my previous life and I even had a better memory. My intelligence was on par with the likes of Peter Parker which I abused greatly for my own benefit. I learned coding and began designing apps that were famous in my old world but not present in this one.

I mainly focused on games like the Geometry Dash and plants vs zombies. Games that were relatively simple and would net me a decent amount of money. I probably could have made better games but I didn't want to attract too much attention. Young game designers are not exactly uncommon but releasing games like far cry and such when I was around 10 was going to attract way too much attention. Not to mention the fact that I can't exactly create games like the witcher 3 and such all by myself no matter how smart I was.

Anyways with the app creation side buisnes, I didn't really have any need for money and honestly, I was perfectly content with living a relatively ordinary life until life chose to throw a fucking curve ball.

You see, I was enrolled in Midtown High. You know who else was in Midtown High? Peter Parker aka Spiderman. In fact we shared most of our classes. So it didn't come as a surprise when we had to go on a field trip together. I knew this would be the fateful day when he gets bitten by the Spider. Starting his journey to become spiderman. And as a fan of the movies and the comics, I wanted to witness it with my own eyes. But make no mistake, I had no intention of letting it bite me as well. Being a superhero honestly seemed like a hassle after all the movies, video games and comics I have read and I had no intention of being that self sacrificing.

I stuck to Peter's side like glue once we got our destination which turned out to be Roxxon Corporation HQ. I guess they were the stand-in for Oscorp in this universe.

The trip itself was pretty exciting as well as they showcased some prototype techs that Roxxon had been working on. And unlike Hammer Industries, they had actual original ideas. If I didn't know just how shady these guys actually were, I probably would have enjoyed myself more.

Eventually, our class reached the department responsible for genetic research and I put my guard up. I didn't want to miss the moment when the spider bites Peter. And then I saw it, A lone spider hanging on the ceiling which began descending just as Peter was about to pass under it while talking to Ned. I saw the spider grab onto his bag before crawling towards his neck and my eyes were locked in on that sight until Peter suddenly winced in pain and I knew that it was done.

I still kept my eyes open for the spider in case it bites some one else. And then, all of a sudden, something jumped at me from Peter's backpack. I yelped in surprise and sidestepped the arachnid flying at me. The said arachnid fell onto the floor and I wasted no time as I brought my foot down on it, crushing it to death. I then dragged my feet, scraping its remains for good measure before turning towards my class, who had moved on.

I walked faster, trying catch up to the rest of my class when I suddenly got the urge to yawn. I opened my mouth and brought up my hand to cover it only to find another spider, with a light red iridescent glow on it. I swear it looked right into my eyes before it leapt from my hand and into my mouth in that split second. It touched the base of my throat and I involuntarily gulped as a result, swallowing it before I began hacking and coughing.

"Whoa there. You alright Kid?" I heard a familiar elderly voice speak before feeling someone lightly patting my back. I nodded while coughing before looking at the man. He was a bespectacled man wearing a janitor's attire, complete with a mop and a bucket.

"Yeah. I think I'm fine." I stammered. I tried to maintain a calm facade but inwardly, I was panicking. I didn't want to end up like Carl King yet I had just accidentally ingested the spider just like he had.

"You best go and catch up to your class. There is still much for you to see here. Who knows, perhaps you will come to enjoy this journey." he said cryptically before walking away. I then resumed trying to catch up to my class while trying to recall if I had ever met that man.

It wasn't until I came back home and fell asleep when I realised who he was. I immediately shot up from my bed before cursing that man. The man who was probably responsible for my presence here. Stane Lee.

---------------------------------

Several months passed after I ate the spider and as expected, by the time I woke up the next day, my body had undergone a lot of changes. I grew up a few inches, my muscles became more defined and many of my acne scars had healed. I was looking good. And the best part was that I didn't turn into a parasitic spider like Carl. But once I stopped celebrating new and improved body, I became serious.

Now that I had powers, I had to kiss the chances of having a normal life goodbye, before executing it 'of mice and men' style. Sure I could try to live a normal life but I seriously doubted it. I don't know whether I was part of the web of destiny or not but I couldn't take the chance of being blindsided by dimension-hopping vampires. Or the countless number of evil organisations that dotted this universe. All it would take is a simple blood test or medical check up before they kidnap me, strap me to a table and dissect me for their own agendas.

And so I had no choice but to prepare for what may come. I enrolled myself into martial arts classes, started working out and began designing gadgets and such for my use. All the while learning the limits of my powers. Speaking of which, it seems that I had gotten the powers of Jessica Drew, aka Spiderwoman. But it was a little bit weird in the sense that I got powers of 616 Jessica while also having the organic web creation of 1610 Jessica as well. Oh well, it meant that I didn't have to go through the effort of designing and creating my own web shooters and web fluids so it's a win win situation.

Next was the suit that was the biggest issue at the moment. I simply lacked the materials and funds to make a suit with decent features. I modeled it after one of Spiderwomans more recent suits complete with gliding capabilities and other assorted tech. Ideally, I also wanted to sew vibranium into the fabric so that it would provide better protection. But this same issue as the others with the added risk of making Wakanda my enemy. So I made a prototype suit with spandex, lined with a special blend of polymers that would provide me moderate protection, at least against melee attacks. The suit cover my entire body and the back of my neck up to my nape. It also had a magnetic slot to fix my mask on either side. The suit also housed some minor circuitaries intended to power other add-ons once I develop them. The circuits were powered by a rechargeable lithium power cell. It was no arc reactor but it was more than adequate for my purposes. I also made a Batman-style utility belt which held my gadgets like smoke bomb pellets, flashbang pellets, specialised tools for lockpicking, dismantling electronics and of course my phone. And finally the mask which was a pair of goggles with fibreglass extensions that started from the rim and went down to my jaw. Its purpose was to hide the overall shape of my face, making it difficult for people to deduce my identity while also letting me expose a part of my face. The mask was remotely connected to my personal computer and with a simple voice command, I can transmit data between the two of them which is projected onto the mask's visor.

When I wasn't busy designing my suit, I was training my powers. Harnessing venom blast was more difficult than I thought. Mostly because it was so hard to adjust it to be nonlethal. Thankfully, my pheromone control came naturally for me, as did using my webs. The same however couldn't be said about my ability to stick to things. It took a while for me to stop randomly sticking onto one thing or another. But I was slowly improving little by little.

------------------------------

A few more months passed and during that time, the events of Age of Ultron has passed meaning I had roughly a year before the events of the Civil War. I also started to keep tags on any heroes/villains I could find. Like the Defenders, Hank Pym and Scott Lang. I kept my distance from Spiderman as I knew that Stark would find him at some point before the Civil war and I didnt want him to find me in turn. I was strictly team Cap both for the comics and the MCU and had no intention of being dragged into it.

I was currently in the middle of a shopping spree with my foster sister, Sarah after I got my latest royalties cheque for my apps. Officially, we were there because it was almost time for Halloween and this year, we were the ones in charge of buying the candy and decorations and we decided to use this opportunity to buy our costumes as well. My sister bought a Black Widow Costume while I bought a classic She-Ra costume.

Unofficially though, I wanted to use this chance to stock up on some materials for my suit and such. If anyone asked, I needed them for some elaborate Halloween decorations so it was the perfect time to acquire them while remaining under the radar.

"Ok. I think that's everything. But are you sure we can fit all of them inside the car?" Sarah asked starting at the piles of decorations.

"We can but I don't think there will be enough space for me to sit. You should go on ahead. I'll take the bus." I said.

"You sure?" Sarah asked and I nodded.

After that, I helped her load the decorations into her car and after she left, I began walking towards the bus stop with my backpack. While I could have just let Sarah take it with her, the bag also happened to store my suit and materials I bought to upgrade it as well as notes about potential future upgrades to the suit and I couldn't risk her or her brother Sam looking inside it.

I was halfway to the bus stop when I suddenly smelt something burning. I looked around and found a building on fire about a block away. A small crowd had gathered outside the building but no fire fighters in sight. For some reason, I felt the urge to walk closer and found that several men were trying to keep a woman from going inside. The woman in question was bawling her eyes out as she kept on trying to fight off the men.

"Is there anyone still inside the building?" I heard someone ask.

"Yeah. A kid. About 8 years old. Lives with his Mom on the top floor. Damn it!!! where is the fire brigade? They should have been here ages ago." A man yelled out.

"Why is no one using the fire escape? We could go up there and save the kid." A newcomer asked.

"Look again, idiot. The fire escape is damaged. The landlord hadn't replaced it since the Invasion. You'd have better luck going through the flames than taking the fire escape." Another man chided.

"Let me go!!! My son!! He's still in there!!!" the woman continued to cry while the bystanders looked at her with pity.

I felt bad for the woman but thankfully, the fire still hadn't spread to the top floor and was three floors below it. The fire brigade would sure arrive before the fire spreads too much, right? I told myself as I turned to leave only freeze as an explosion suddenly came from the building. The people outside quickly moved just in time to see debris falling. The mother began to cry even harder as the flames began spreading even faster.

That was it for me. I threw caution into the wind before running into an alleyway.I practically ripped the clothes of my back before putting on my suit. I shot a web line towards the top of the building closest to me and hoisted myself to the top. I used the rooftops to get close to the burning building before jumping off and aiming a web line at one of the windows on the top floor before pulling on it, propelling my body straight through it.

I found myself inside a living room filled with fire and smoke that obscured my vision as I began searching for the child. One by one, I looked through the rooms until I found myself inside what looked the mother's bedroom. Inside huddled into a corner was the unconscious body of the child. I quickly grabbed him before running back to the living room and jumping out from the same window I entered through and landed right in the midst of the crowd that was gathered outside.

I heard people yelp and step back as landed in front of them with the kid still in my arms. A brief moment of silence followed before the kid's mother saw her child in my arms and she stepped forward with tears in her eyes and her arms outstretched while thanking me. I placed the child in her hands before making a hasty exit even as I heard someone telling me to wait. I increased my pace before anyone could pursue and I disappeared into the alleyways before taking off the ground with a web line.

As I swang further and further away from the blazing building, I began thinking about the repercussions of my actions. I had just made my debut in broad daylight and there was a good chance that many people had caught me camera. Meaning that there is high chance that I fall into someones list, whether it be SHIELD, the Army, Stark or the countless super secret organisations on Earth. On the other hand, I prevented a mother from losing her child. And honestly, I don't regret it. It felt good.

All this time, I had been so adamant about trying to live a normal life, to not be a superhero. Yet I had spent the last months preparing, training myself for what is to come. And now I am not sure it was for my own safety or because deep down I knew that I would always end up here no matter the path I took. I sighed in exasperation, reminiscing about the days before I ate the spider. Back when things felt, simple.
