There's another Webster in town pt 2

One good thing I got from the spider bite was my new body. I was pretty scrawny and short before the spider bit me. But now, I easily towered over most of the male jocks even if it was by a few inches. I basically had the comic book heroine physique curvy, slightly muscular yet agile frame and no acne or black heads in sight.

One of the resulting downside of that however was that I was starting to stand out. People I never interacted with were talking to me for one reason or the other. It didn't help that I had to practically throw out most of my clothes since none of them fit after my growth spurt. As such, I asked my sister Sarah for help buy me some new clothes without my supervision which turned out to be the worst thing I could do.

You see, my sister is a very talented fashionista and was on the fast track to become a prominent fashion designer. As such she loved dress shopping. And she knew exactly what to buy to make you look the best.

For years, she had been begging me to change my wardrobe as I used to wear bland or loose clothing to blend in with the masses. So, when I asked her to pick me some clothes she went all out, buying roughly 500$ in clothes and went far as to burn my old discarded clothes. As a result, my peaceful school days came to an end. I couldn't so much as shake a stick without someone asking me out or trying to butter me up one way or the other. And the worst part, the surge of Teenage Drama that has started revolving around me. I had been accused of having plastic surgery, taking steroids sleeping with a teacher and many other things that thankfully led nowhere. I had even lost some of the friends that I used to hangout with for one reason or the other, which sucked.

And while my social life was becoming evermore turbulent, my life as a superhero kept on getting better. I began programming more and better games and I used the revenue from that to upgrade my gears. It also helped that I could make natural webs made of silk meaning I could make my own bullet proof fabric instead of trying buy kevlar from who knows where. Turns out my The process took forever though as I had to buy and learn how to use an honest to god loom.

Other new gadgets includes a small camera in my mask in case I get framed or something. Lord knows how many times that had happened to Peter over different media. As well as a fully retractable wing suit. I had also been working on a wrist mounted projectile launcher which I can use to throw my smoke pellets and other gadgets farther and with more accuracy.

I have also continued patrolling the city though not as frequently as Peter. It was during one such patrol that led me to a warehouse near the docks. It was an area well known to be used for smuggling contraband into the city which made it an ideal place for me to get some practice without putting any civilians at risk. I wanted have actual combat experience under my belt in case I get dragged into the Civil War or its aftermath.

I scouted the docks atop a street lamp and muttered 'bingo' as I saw roughly 2 dozen men loading and unloading crates into a container. Yet something felt off. These men didn't feel like your run of the mill crooks. They moved with such precision and discipline that might even mistake them for soldiers. I briefly wondered whether I had stumbled onto a covert military operation or perhaps SHIELD until one of the men dropped a crate, scattering its contents.

Guns. And not the cheap ones regular gangsters used. These were top of the line, military grade hardware and the guards here are definitely not part of SHIELD or the military.

I jumped on the lamp post and webbed onto the roof of a nearby warehouse, perching at the edge as I planned my next move. That was until something hit the ground leaving cracks on the asphalt. As the dust settled I saw a man wearing a blue suit with a red and white shield. It took me a split second to recognize the ol Star Spangled Man with a plan by which point most of the guards were already advancing towards him with weapons drawn.

Then suddenly, Captain America threw his shield and ran to the side, barely dodging a barrage of bullets as his shield hit one of the guards before ricocheting and hitting two more guards before it bounced towards the Captain who caught it mid-sprint. As the guards began to focus fire on him, they failed to see a man in a mechanical wing suit flanking them from the air. The newcomer who I identified as the falcon opened fire and I saw many of the guards collapse on to the ground. From the lack of blood I deduced that he was using non lethal ammunition, most likely variations of the night night gun from the Agents of SHIELD series.

I watched as the pair seemed effortlessly take out the guards from my vantage point. It seemed that I wouldn't get get any practice that night when suddenly, I felt my spider sense tingle and leaped from the previous vantage point. A split second later I heard a gun shot and felt a bullet whizzing past me. I looked at the shooter who turned out to be a red haired woman in a skin tight suit. Aka the Black widow.

My first thought was to either escape or try to de-escalate the situated but a more intrusive thought in me wanted to fight her one on one. After all I came here to gain some fighting experience and Black widow is one of the best fighters around. Suffice it to say, my intrusive thoughts won as I shot a web line at her rifle before yanking it away from her. I landed a couple of meters away from her and immediately charged while she tried to unholster her pistols. I began with a roundhouse kick aimed at her face which caused her to duck below it before she raised her pistols at me.

My spider sense flared and as she pulled the trigger and I weaved left and right as she fired her guns, causing her shots to miss before I doing a sweeping kick in an attempt to push her off her feet though as expected she back stepped in order to avoid it before firing more shots. I leapt of the ground and began spring boarding of the objected around us like empty containers, crates and even off walls waiting for a chance to counter-attack.

"Guys, I think we have another enhanced here." I heard her speak as she fired shot after shot which I dodged expertly.

"No I think I can handle it." I heard her reply at while after. Eventually I heard an audible click as her guns ran out of ammo and I used this chance to commence my counter attack. I started with a axe kick while I was mid air which she dodged but not before I followed that up with a spinning kick to the agents abdomen causing her to fall on her back.

She swiftly countered but shooting at me with the widow's bite. I managed to evade the electric projectile but it gave the Widow enough time to get back on her feet and commence her own attacks on me. I blocked several of her punches before attempting to counter with a barrage of attacks. I sent a few fast jabs at her abdomen only of which managed to make contact before twisted to the side she brought her elbow down on my arm causing me to back away while massaging my arm. If I had been a regular person, that hit could have shattered the bones in my arm. I shook my arm in pain before charging at her once more.

What followed can only be described as a stalemate. Natasha Romanov was a beast at close-quarter combat and even with my enhanced reflexes, I found it difficult to land a hit on her. Every time I try she would counter it with her own attacks. Whereas she could barely land a hit on me because of my spider sense. Though if I was being honest, the odds were slightly stacked against me as she began to switch up her attacks and I was slowly but surely being pushed into a corner.

This went on for a solid 5 minutes until someone yelled at us from afar.

"Nat stop that's not a hostile." I suddenly heard someone call out. At his words, I kicked the ground and retreated back, hoping to avoid any potential ambush.

I saw both Captain America and the Falcon approach us.

"This is the new vigilante that has been active around New york. Spider Woman I think" Falcon added as he looked at me as if to confirm as he said my name. I nodded in response.

"Did you get them all?" Black widow asked and Captain America shook his head.

"Crossbone and a couple of his men are not accounted for. Apparently, they left the States earlier today."

"So, what's our next course of action?"

"Nothing we can do. Aside from waiting for him to resurface."

"So what do we do about her?" Black widow said before glancing at me. Her eyes studied me from head to toe as if trying to bore into my soul.

Captain America then turned to face me and took a few steps.

"I saw your fight, kid. Haven't seen Romanov struggle so much against an opponent." he said with an amused tone. Behind him I saw the woman in question exaggeratedly roll her eyes while the Falcon sniggered a little before the former elbowed him in the ribs.

"But from what I saw. You are still green. You haven't been in a real fight much. The people here far worse than regular junkies and muggers and better trained and equipped. You could have gotten seriously hurt." he then said with a serious tone.

The atmosphere got a little tense after that.

"Lucky for you, you don't have to do this alone. The avengers can provide you with training tech and most importantly a team to watch your back." he continued.

I pondered about what he said. On one hand joining the avengers would compromise my identity and should the events of Civil War happen I might end up having to go on the run or risk being incarcerated or strapped inside a lab cause there is no way I was going to join Team Iron man.

On the other hand, joining the avengers is very appetizing for my inner nerdy fangirl. Moreover, it also means that I would get access to better resources which would come in handy to prepare for Thanos's 'inevitable' arrival.

"I'll think about it." I finally replied. The Captain seemed to be content with it before he took out a piece of paper and handed it to me.

"Here. This is a number in with an encrypted channel. Call us if you make up your mind. Till then stay safe." he said with a small smile before he and Widow began walking towards their newly acquired prisoners.

And I in turn read the phone number written in the paper and memorized it before throwing it inside a sewer grate. Call me paranoid but I wouldn't put it past someone like Fury or Black widow to douse the paper in some type of a chemical that can be traced back to my civilian identity.

"You know, I haven't seen someone put up that good of a fight against Widow aside from Cap. She honestly looked almost impressed." The Falcon said jokingly as he looked at me.

I couldn't help but smile sheepishly before muttering thanks in a soft voice as my poor social skills began to rear its head.

"Well anyways. Like Cap said, we would be glad to have you with us. Hope we'll hear from you soon." he added.

I simply nodded in response before shooting my webs at the top of the building. I saw the Falcon frown at my actions. "Is that stuff coming out of you?" he asked. What followed was a few seconds of awkward silence until I opened my mouth."

"Yes." Was all I said before swinging away in an attempt to avoid any follow questions and things had become awkward enough.

As I swung across the New York Skyline I once again began to contemplate about my next course of action.
