Scarlett bit down on her nails as she paced back and forth. She had discussed joining the pack with Simon when they met yesterday, but he had a requirement before he would accept her. 


Scarlett scoffed when she heard the word he said right out of his mouth. "Seriously? Before I can join the pack, you want me to learn about your kind? Simon, you want me. You need me. At least you did. You approached me a week ago, wanting me to join your pack, and now that I have reached out to you, you demand a condition?"


Scarlett had departed early yesterday after school had ended. Since it was Friday and she was aware that not getting along with her friends would prevent her from going to any parties, she made the decision to meet Simon instead. They had both met at a cafe. They met at the cafe because it was less crowded at night and the ice house was too exposed for him to be seen there.
