CHAPTER 42

TADE

Tade's doorbell rang, ever since the intense divorce process started, she has been careful of whom she opens her door to. Nora had called her a day before to inform her that she was coming over to her place the next day to spend some time with her, so she called Nora's phone to confirm if she is the one at her door before she answered it. Jide's constant harassment has made her security cautious, she now spends less time at home. For the past months, she had shuffled to stay at her boyfriends' house and her parents' house.

Spending time at her boyfriends' house was something she enjoys doing but with an ample of

them at hand, she keeps her phone on silent and

out of sight to avoid unnecessary explanations and arguments with them, which goes on round and round whenever she opts for another house to spend the week. It was at this point, that Tade

realized how stressful relationship was. When she was home, she didn't have any reason to hide her phone or put it in silence to avoid so many calls. She decided to let some of her boyfriends go, she didn't find fault with them before but after spending quality time with every one of them, she knows who disgusts her that she only coped with for that period of days, she also knows those who she fell heads over love for again and again. Tito used to be her favorite but after spending a week at his place for the first time since they started their relationship, she regretted ever responding to him the very first time they met. Tito is breathtakingly handsome, she had fallen for his looks that she thought other things didn't matter. When she met Tito, she knew immediately that he fits the show-off boyfriend category that has been empty in her life. He is straight, got good looks, is a superb flatterer, a social butterfly like herself, a smooth talker, and has the perfect dress sense. Little did she know that he was an empty vessel, she foot every bill they spent during her stay at his place, this guy borrows everything he flaunts even the clothes he wears, she was so ashamed of

herself. He had no job, she wondered why she didn't notice quickly all this while they dated and

realizes maybe she also didn't care at all. While she was there, he basically spent most of his hours of the day on his laptop compiling matches to stake bets on with high hopes that he was going to win millions when he could have been out there working like his mates. He always has a reason to justify himself whenever she catches him with her purse or in her bag, a man that steals from his own woman! He is so less of a man. Tade had packed up her holiday bag in anger when he came home with his friends and demanded that she gave him money to buy some liquor to host them. At that instant, she canceled him off her list of eligible boyfriends.

Dino on the other hand was too clingy for her liking, what kind of man wants to be around a lady all the time? He called in sick immediately after she appeared at his doorstep which she found romantic because he didn't wait to be informed that she would be spending some days at his place before he made himself available. But within two days at his place, she noticed he is super caring and supportive but too clingy and that was a huge turn-off for her. She had her phone switched off all through at his place which cost her lots of money as he was following her around the house like a toddler that needs his

mother's attention. She couldn't spend a minute on her phone, nor was she able to pick up other

suitors' calls or reply to text messages which could have resulted in credit alerts. Tade tagged him as a bad market but made sure she enjoyed the time with him because it was going to be her last time there.

Richard, her shine shine bobo spoilt her silly at his place, he knew her weakness and used it against her. He had fresh food delivered to her every afternoon when he was at work and also when he gets back, he took her out almost every night. He spoilt her with gifts and money, pampered her, rubbed her feet, and massaged her tummy when she was on her cycle. He is perfect in every way except good looks but he is fantastic in bed and that compliments every missing part in his puzzle.

Richard has so many admirers that she became

jealous at a point and even got into a fight with one of his side chicks that came over to his house when she was there. He begged and begged promising heaven on earth when she threatened to leave and also made sure he sent the girl out of his compound notifying the girl that she, Tade is his girlfriend "He can't be canceled, not yet, I still need him" she chuckled to herself.

Tade walks out to her living room to open the door for Nora, Tade admired her as she walked in, touching her skin and emphasizing how Nora's skin glow could blind one's eyes. Nora laughs at her friend, she has become so accustomed to that compliment that she just laughs it off whenever someone else admires her. "It took you a long time to open the door, were you hiding one of your boyfriends in your closet?" Tade shrugs "no, I was just skeptical about who was at the door and I didn't want to take chances. I called you thrice to confirm if it was you at my door knocking but you didn't pick up, so I automatically sensed it wasn't you then" Nora apologizes to Tade instantly. She didn't

hear her phone ring until the last call which she

picked "Is he still bugging you? I thought you filled a restraining order already?" Nora is puzzled, she settled on the sofa and relaxed her back "I did but the idiot shows no single respect for the law, he still comes here to assault me, in fact, the last time he was here, he was shouting in the compound that after paying my bride price in full, I decided to become a harlot." "What???" Nora in shock cuts in Tade's explanation "That one is even small! Chill and listen now, this idiot said if I was sure I didn't sleep with someone else while he was abroad then I should come with him to the hospital so they can run a test to confirm the last time I had sex and how many people I have been with" Tade laughs in marvel "Does a test like that exist?" Nora inquires

confusedly "Do I know for him? The idiot refused to leave my doorstep that day oo! He was just

making noise, calling my neighbors to come and

see who he is talking about, to come and see the

harlot occupying the apartment, I had to pour him hot water oo!" Nora burst into laughter "this is terrible! He is a disgrace to the male gender" Nora pats her friend as she vents "Serious disgrace my sister! Which woman will live with that kind of man? No one! No one can stay with him and that's why he is miserable!". "Well, that aside, how have you been? Are you not going to entertain me?" Tade gave Nora a questioning look after her statement "you sabi where fridge dey nah when you are not a visitor, my dear this is your house, you better go and take anything that you like. Don't wait for me to ask you what you want. Let me go and bring my phone, so we can call Susan and Chichi" Tade leaves the living room to her room to pick up her phone while Nora goes to the freezer to pick up a bottle of whiskey.

Tade comes down with her phone but pauses as

she was about to dial her friend's number "what

time is it in Spain now? Do you think Chichi would

be back from work already?" she asked Nora who urged her to go ahead and call her "Just dial abeg, she would pause work for us". Tade calls Chichi and puts the phone on speaker, as Chichi picked up the call, Tade let out a scream which was followed by screams at the other end of the phone "Boss lady!!! we fasted and prayed before we put a call through!" Tade teases Chichi who couldn't stop laughing endlessly "Tade! Maka why nah? You know you can call me anytime any day! I will put anything on hold for you girls" "Gbam! I told her the same thing just now" Nora replies Chichi who in turn shouted "Nora you are there? Oh God! I miss you all, it's not been easy here, just work no fun" "Ehyaa, come back home where the fun awaits you" Tade tells Chichi to hold on so she can add Susan on, Tade calls Susan's line but she didn't pick up. She drops a message for her and continued with her conversation with her friends. They had so many gists to share and laugh about. Chichi announced that she would be coming to Nigeria

briefly which caused an uproar of excitement for

the girls as they couldn't wait to see her.
