THE HOUSE TOUR
Well, this is awkward. I wish I could say that that brunch was a success but I would be lying. I have never wanted to be somewhere else more than I was. Between questions being thrown at me, being assigned personal assistants that I don't need without my consent, to my parents and Sean's parents planning our engagement party and last but not least having to endure my husband-to-be glare.
I wish that I was back home having a lazy day or chilling out with Cindy and Nate. I don't even know how I am going to break the news to them. Am I going to go like 'hey guys, know how we always wondered if I would ever get a boyfriend, I have even better, I am going to be someone's wife. Not just any wife but a rich dude's wife that I didn't even know existed until yesterday. Great right?' Or I am going to go like, 'Hey guys, I was actually seeing this guy for a while now behind your backs and we have decided to settle down. I am still going to finish school but I am going to be married by then. No biggie, right?'
However I am to tell them I am still going to be screwed because I am not a good liar. Cindy might believe me if I lie really well but Nate is not going to believe my bullshit made up story.
I slowly rubbed my temple and let out a soft sigh before looking up from my position on the patio and found the same icy green staring at me. I rolled my eyes and looked away. 'Jerk' what was his problem? Can't he find something else to look at? It's beginning to be creepy at this point.
"Hey honey, I think a tour of the house would help you bond with Sean better. Don't you think so?" I looked up again and found all eyes on me. Lucy had a big grin on her like a kid on Christmas day. She had a look of expectation and I realized everyone was waiting for my answer. I briefly looked at Sean and found him looking at me with a curious look.
"Isa?" My mother called me and I quietly cleared my throat before smiling politely.
"A tour sounds fun, Lucy. Thank you?" I replied and watched as Sean stood up and straightened his coat and pants. He walked up to me and did something that actually surprised me. He offered me his hand. I actually expected him to walk away and expect me to catch up with him. I took his hand and stood up.
"Excuse us for a while. We will join you soon," Sean replied. His voice was a little hoarse from being quiet for a long time. If Cindy was here, she would have squealed, because according to her, there was something magical about a man with a deep voice. A smile made its way on my face but it was quickly replaced with a frown when I felt a strong masculine hand on my lower back, gently applying pressure, to make me start moving. I quickly found my footing and forced my legs to take quick but calculated steps. Sean led us through a small halfway before we stepped into the kitchen.
"Here is the kitchen, obviously," He said before quickly leading to the next room. This continued for all the rooms downstairs before he took me upstairs. It looked like a replica of downstairs except there wasn't a kitchen or a dining area. It had a patio, a sitting area which was magnificent, a mini fridge and other rest rooms.
"There are five master bedrooms. You have already seen the two downstairs and the other three are on this floor. The one at the far left is my parents', the one opposite it is my sister's and mine is next to my sister's. The other two rooms are just guest rooms and that is the end of our house tour. Do you have any questions?" Sean turned to look at me when he was done talking.
"No, I don't. Thank you for the tour," I answered but continued to look around. This place was actually dope. The design of furniture, floor and walls were identical in the whole house. The curtains were the only thing that color changed.
"Can you just drop the act? Our parents are not here, so you don't have to pretend anymore," Sean gritted his teeth and grabbed my arm but did not apply pressure.
"What do you mean by that? I am not pretending. You, on the other hand, I don't know. Are you pretending? And can you let go of my arm?" I angrily replied, as I tried to free my arm from his grasp. Sean only tightened his grasp on my arm. He glared down at me because of the height difference between us. He was about to say something to me but stopped when voices started approaching. He angrily let go of my arm, only to take my hand and lead me to the room that he said was his. After we were inside, he angrily banged the door close and pushed me against it.
"Of course I am pretending. I don't want you. I don't want any of this. Heck, I don't even know you. I am pretending because I have to do this. So much is at stake here because of some little bitch who only wants money. Tell me, please make me understand, what is it that you are giving my old man?" He angrily asked, putting both of his hands on the door next to my head, trapping me into place.
"Don't you dare call me a bitch. I am not giving your father anything. Fuck, I also don't know you or your family. I didn't even know that there was a firm called McCaffrey's Empire until yesterday when my parents decided to make my life miserable by marrying me off to a bastard like you. I am still in school, so why would I decide to get married right now instead of waiting until I graduate? As far as I can see, your family is the one calling the shots, so why don't you tell your father to cancel all of this. Then, I can go back to my life and you can go back to whatever?" I snapped back at him and only then did I realize how close we had gotten during our little outburst.
This just keeps getting awkward
